Yes yes, everyone knows this is just Summer League and players who succeed here don’t always succeed in the NBA.
Old Dub Nation remembers how Anthony Randolph destroyed the (summer) league, and also how Steph Curry and Brandin Podziemski had rough shooting debuts.
If you think a particular skill won’t translate, feel free to give reasons. But no need for the general caution that “it’s just summer league”. We know, we know.

Who plays Summer League?
So as a loose guideline, of the NBA roster players, you definitely see rookies and usually 1st year players who didn’t get that much playing time (JK and MM played after Y1, so did Keegan Murray), but not usually players after that.
I believe anyone can play SL, so GSW could send out the entire actual GSW team. But the team and player have to balance messing up summer rest, special events like Olympics, injury risk versus a chance to see players possibly get extended run, possibly in roles they don’t get to play in normal situations.
For instance, Post is too established as an NBA player to be selected or agree to play Summer League. As far as I know, there is not a literal age limit.
The rest of the SL teams are made of players wanting to be noticed by NBA teams and get signed to a G-League team or perhaps even a two-way contract. These are usually undrafted free agents, both right out of college and experienced non-NBA pros (overseas or G-League). A small number are free agents like Kevin Knox who were drafted but fell out of the league and are trying to make a comeback.
An oversimplified guide to the roster
On the Warriors
Was two-way contract on GSW in 2024-25.
GSW extended qualifying offer of a two-way so any contract offer can be matched.
Recruited out of Australia in the middle of last season, he’s a dazzling passer and has started filling up the basket at SCW as well. 11.5 PTS, 7.8 AST, 6.0 REB, 2.6 TOV, 1.5 STL, not a bad average line.
Currently on two-way contract. 3-and-D-ish wing who shot 36% 3P in his two year G-League career. 16.9 PTS, 7.8 REB, 3.0 AST.
Alex Toohey, 2025 #52 pick
Will Richard, 2025 #56 pick
Was On Santa Cruz Warriors
Was a tough shotmaker in college and in our 2024 Draft Tourney.
Scored a bunch in Santa Cruz. 20.1 PTS, 5.1 REB, 1.3 AST.
Donta Scott
Solid wing who got plenty of playing time in Santa Cruz. 10.1 PTS, 6.1 REB, 0.9 AST
On our radars
LJ Cryer, 2025 undrafted
Incredibly productive college player, but short
Exhibit 10 which is a bonus incentive to join SCW
Discussed at The new Warriors: Alex Toohey, Will Richard, LJ Cryer and Chance McMillian
Chance McMillian
Incredibly productive college player, but short
Exhibit 10 which is a bonus incentive to join SCW
Discussed at The new Warriors: Alex Toohey, Will Richard, LJ Cryer and Chance McMillian
Update (2025-07-04): Chance had left ankle surgery and will miss all of Summer League.
Marques Bolden
Bruising big who became something of a folk hero in 2024 Summer League until he had a right Achilles injury in Game 4.
Played in 18 NBA games across 5 years, played in the G-League. Grinding, trying to make his dream com true.
Hopefully he is back and ready to impress.
Coleman Hawkins, 2025 undrafted
He’s been worked out pre-draft by GSW I believe in each of the least three years. Looked like a promising stretch-big playmaker last year, but he went back to college for a big NIL deal and had a bumpy year.
Isaiah Mobley
Brother of Evan Mobley!
NBA says: In 2023, Isaiah Mobley led the Cavs to the Summer League title with a game-winner in the semis and an MVP showing (28 pts, 11 reb) in the championship game. In 2025, he’s suiting up for the Warriors this summer

Bonus: Where all the Draft Tourney players ended up
Here are all the players in the 2025 DNHQ Draft Tourney and where they ended up.
Of 21 players we have
5 drafted in second round before #41
6 drafted at #41 or after
3 Two-way contracts
6 Exhibit 10s
1 Summer League
All in all, a very good field for candidates for the #41 pick, except for the minor fact that neither actual draft pick was in the field nor did GSW pick #41. A small consolation is that if GSW had not selectively kept Toohey and Richard’s workouts secret, then Richard at least would have been in the Tourney. Plus I discussed Richard at length with Nic Oza.

On the free agency front
There was nothing settled on Day 4 and Slater thinks the process might go into July. You can catch up on the previous reports here.
The Golden State Warriors, according to league sources, have been searching for a promising young player plus a first-round pick in return for Kuminga, should they ultimately choose to part with him in a sign-and-trade scenario….
They’ve drawn inbound calls in recent days, most notably from the Sacramento Kings, who floated an offer of Devin Carter, Dario Šarić and two second-round picks, league sources said. The Warriors have so far balked at what they felt was a buy-low attempt
The Washington Wizards entered the mix in the last 24 hours, and the idea of Kuminga as a possible fit in Washington’s rebuild has gained real momentum, according to league sources. The Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets have also registered varying levels of interest, league sources said…
That could mean the process drags deeper into July. There’s a tentative plan for face-to-face meetings between Kuminga and prospective suitors in Las Vegas during the NBA Summer League, should the process extend that far.
An eventual compromise and return to the Warriors also remains very much on the table, league sources said, considering the market dynamics at play. The two sides have talked about a sit-down in Las Vegas between Kuminga, Turner, general manager Mike Dunleavy and head coach Steve Kerr to discuss a possible path forward, if his situation remains unresolved in a week.
A ton of info just got dumped by Siegel. The article itself mostly focuses on JK: https://clutchpoints.com/nba/nba-stories/siegels-scoop-warriors-jonathan-kuminga-free-agency-holdup-trade-market-intel
Some snippets:
*"It doesn't appear as if everything has hit rock bottom in the sense that Kuminga truly wants to leave and won't return to the team by any means....[He] has shown flashes of star-like potential. If there is a path to [becoming one] with the Warriors, Kuminga would very much welcome that opportunity."
*"Golden State isn't prepared to let him leave and not get anything of value in return, sources said."
*The three teams currently realistic for a JK S&T are Miami, NOP, and SAC. Miami wants to clear salary first - likely Wiggins or Rozier, but neither for JK. NOP is looking to clear salary - probably by trading DeJounte Murray (who is injured). The Dubs would have serious interest in Herb or Trey, but NOP is unlikely to include them. SAC is trying to move Monk to make JK work, but the only real interest GS had mentioned is if Keegan is included. "That doesn't seem to be a path for the Kings at this moment."
*Some Dubs FO members want to retain JK in case Giannis or Lebron is possible at a later date.
*Horford is still likely to sign, but....."Another holdup with Horford could revolve around how much money Golden State is offering him. The Warriors have access to the $5.7 million taxpayer mid-level exception, but they will be hard-capped at the second apron if they were to use it on a player like Horford or someone else."
On Lillard:
*He has relationships with Curry, Draymond, and Butler. And "it's certainly worth discussing."
On Melton:
*"De'Anthony Melton has been a key name linked to Los Angeles throughout the offseason, and there is a growing expectation that the Lakers will land him in free agency"
On Beal:
*"The Heat, Lakers, Clippers, Warriors, and Bucks would all have interest in a small contract for Beal."
🎆 Happy 4th Everyone!
I watched all the interviews for Summer League. I am always interested to get a feel for who they are as people, not just BB players. First impression is the FO is definitely looking for TEAM PLAYERS with high BB IQ, as well as hopefully some that will make it to NBA status.
Coleman Hawkins has been on my radar a long time. Looking forward to see him on the court. I liked Isaiah Mobley interview. Marques Bolden has also been on my radar for awhile. Bummed about Chance McMillian's literally bad break. A local boy (Vallejo) I'd like to see make good. Down to earth. And of course Alex Toohey. Very nice prescence. Looking forward to seeing him on court too.
Impressed with coach Lainn Wilson at least in the interviews. The Warriors Summer League/G league have proven to be a worthy incubator.
And starting tomorrow, the Valkyries get to prove if they can win on the road. 5 out of the next 6 are away games.
As for the trading I need a chill pill and wake me up when there's a definite signing! 😂
JK was the black cloud over the season and continues to be the black cloud over the off-season.
