Will we see draft picks Alex Toohey and Will Richard?
NBA.com said:
The Warriors agreed to trades to acquire Alex Toovey (52nd via Phoenix) and Will Richard (56th via Memphis) in the 2025 Draft, but with the trades not yet finalized, their summer debuts will need to wait until at least July 6.
The Warriors went into the second round of the draft with one pick at No. 41 overall. Before the round even began, they traded the pick to the Phoenix Suns for the No. 52 and No. 59 overall picks. Toohey was taken at No. 52, but the Warriors weren’t done wheeling and dealing. They then moved up from No. 59 to No. 56 in a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies to select Richard.
Neither trade has been made official, which is why Toohey and Richard couldn’t suit up Saturday, NBC Sports Bay Area was told. Sunday at 9 a.m. PT marks the first day of the new league year. The hope is that Toohey and Richard can play Sunday, if the trade is made official before the Warriors’ 3:30 p.m. PT tipoff against the San Antonio Spurs.
Summer League Warriors
Summer League is starting with the California Classic at Chase Center.
We have a comprehensive guide to the Warriors roster here:

Opponents
Here are come brief notes on the opposing team, a team based somewhere within the large radius of Victor Wembanyama.
Dylan Harper
2025 #2
Update: Will not play in the CA Classic due to injury.
The next superstar point guard?
APRIBOT v1 ranked Dylan Harper #9 in the class, which seems a little low, so I’m interested to see how he does.
Carter Bryant
2025 #14
APRIBOT v1 picked Bryant at #13, so this is an example of how humans and bots can get along so there is no need for APRIBOT to use my Ring doorbell to yell random profanities at pedestrians
Riley Minix
Two-Way
Harrison Ingram
2024 #48
Two-Way
APRIBOT v1 ranked him #31.
It’s no slight on APRIBOT that she ranked him relatively high and now he’s still on a two-way because there are many variables with role and development so could APRIBOT please not randomly vary the pressure in my CPAP machine, please I’m serious it’s dangerous
Cam Carter
had draft buzz for 2025 but was undrafted.

Kuminga’s Options
APRIBOT v1 wants me to pass along that she spent a peaceful July 4 gameplanning the takeover of the Starlink satellite network for better basketball projection and purely non-military purposes.
No, the qualifying offer is just an offer. JK doesn’t have to sign it or any other NBA contract. For instance, that’s what has happened with Nico Mannion’s qualifying offer which GSW extends just since there’s no downside and it’s a random micro-asset.
From https://www.nba.com/news/free-agency-explained:
There are five basic options for a restricted free agent:
• Accept his team’s prior qualifying offer, play out the season and become a free agent the next summer.
• Accept his team’s maximum qualifying offer (where applicable) and play under that long-term deal.
• Negotiate a new contract with his original team that is independent of the qualifying/max qualifying offer.
• Sign an offer sheet with another team through March 1, which his original team has an opportunity to match (see below).
• Negotiate a sign-and-trade if he hasn’t signed an offer sheet with another team.
• If there is no qualifying offer, contract or offer sheet signed for one year, the original team can submit a new qualifying offer and the player will be a restricted free agent the next summer.
Correct. Similar situation for NBA draft picks. They can’t just wait it out unless they sit out of pro play for an entire year. I am not sure if that is true for the qualifying offer… I’d have to ask Perks or read the CBA
On the dumping of Cam Whitmore
More than one griper complained how stupid GSW was for taking Podz when Whitmore fell to them. He might still flourish but it’s a reminder to have humility about draft projections.
*Raging* that GSW didn’t take Cam shows a lack of humility. GSW didn’t take my guy Tonje this year and I was sad but I didn’t complain how stupid GSW was. Because they have a lot more information than I do and are a lot better than me at selection.
It’s the sacred right of sports fans to rage about whatever and act certain about stuff they are ignorant about. But moments like these are good for people who want to understand sports to remind ourselves to have humility about what can be projected about prospects.
Yeah, I think I said above that fans have the right to (respectfully) fan as irrationally as they like. There is a place for that on this site.
But this is also a place for people who want to understand things better. And for those people, humility is the #1 required attribute.
First Half Notes
I can only watch some of the game, so here are my random notes for Q1 and maybe a little Q2 coming.
Q1
9.35. I like how the Warriors Summer League team runs actual Warriors plays. That was a classic split cut Taryn Armstrong to Bolden and Bolden with a nice finish on the roll.
9.07. Yo Bolden trying to show off his three point range also. All right.
Man, these Lakers are hitting everything.
7.35. Well, Bolden showing some patience there, not just firing it up. Looking for the open man whom he found.
All right. Taran Armstrong hitting a three. Desperately need some shooting in the big club. Shackleford drew three players to the baseline and someone had to be open.
36 Manon is everywhere.
Mobley is a big body, but that was pretty awkward.
Shackleford is gonna shoot everything that touches his hands.
5:18. Hey, it's another Warriors play. I think that was the play that was the game winner for against the Bulls by Damian Lee.
4.44. You usually want your second year players to be dominating more than Dalton Knecht is doing, but I guess it's still early.
4.14. Blake Hinson is not shy at all about hoisting up the shots.
4.14. We actually have number 40 LJ Cryer in.
Mobley sure is thick.
3.50. Cryer gets the ball up pretty confidently up against full court pressure.
Good pass from Mobley to the back cutting Jackson Rowe.
It looked like it caused Hinson physical pain to not take that shot.
2.30. Hey I want to see more Cryer with the basketball. Give it to him, you cowards. Oh, Cryer screening in the small small PNR then coming for the fake hand off to Mobley. Mobley with a very clunky looking ball fake that did get his defender up in the air. Didn't work out.
1.09. sadly they took Cryer out but Coleman Hawkins is in. I have this preconception of Coleman Hawkins as a chaos agent, and there he was dribbling with the spin into two players and coughing it up in the paint.
0.20. This Manon guy seems to be in the middle of EVERYTHING.
Q2
8.39. Well Coleman Hawkins does seem to like to pass, tries to thread a lob pass through intense traffic.
8.02. Well there's the stretch part. Coleman Hawkins takes a dead play and launches long three-pointer. Swish.
I told you, Hawkins is a chaos agent. Next play, Hawkins takes the dribble hand off and almost hoists another shot, but then bails out mid shot and his roller wasn't ready for it. Lakers take it all the way back in a chaotic play, and you just knew that that layup was not going to go in. I guess Coleman is the local god of chaos now that Kevin Knox is somewhere else.
Then to put a chaos bow to tie up that whole chaos package, Hawkins immediately hoists up a pullup three the next play. Very entertaining.
5.35. Hinson shows you what a professional bucket getter looks like with that hard dribble hesi drive. Whew.
4.25. Cryer time. Behind the back, dribble into a pull up three which got a serious shooter role.
3.40. Cryer shows some nimble screen that navigation, but doesn't matter. Lakers score anyway.
2.45. Have to admit Mobley has some crazy touch on some of these high weird angle bank shots.
0.50. Armstrong with a nice lob to Rowe on the fast break. I was promised more hotdog passing from Armstrong, but he has been quite sober this game. Unfortunately.
0.23. I will say that Armstrong does not seem to have had any trouble against the full court pressure all game. Good to have a decently reliable ball handler.
OK, you are on your own. Make sure you comment about any cool plays for the rest of the game..
Good to hear… there’s more pressure for Rowe to dominate as he is a second year pro.
It’s just one game, but if Knecht doesn’t dominate some time, then it’s not a good sign. Even Podziemski and Jackson-Davis were stars last summer league.
Cryer is entertaining the crowd with threes. A smooth pullup then a catch and shoot. His shortness not yet holding him back. Follows it with a step back elbow J. Feeling the microwave flip on.
