Wow. Great question! But, no way.

Giannis is probably a better player than Klay but Toronto just needed a run (well, injuries ended the run) of the best team basketball has ever seen. The core three, from the beginning, are still together. They have the likes of Barkley debating what makes a great team and whether the Dubs changed basketball forever. We have all three under contract for a few more years, they know how to play together (anyone watch that Houston Series? Any KD vs Portland?) and don’t need much more than one or two more very good vets to win another championship or two. If Giannis somehow comes to join these three, wonderful. Not likely, but fine. But I am all in for Steph, Klay and Dray to stick it out for at least two more years and make sure there is no doubt left that their unique brand of BB is the GOAT.

And, yes, Kerr should be included in the untouchable category.

Trade down get a first next year then you can offer 2 first next year another first in 2 years and andrew Wiggins don’t see anyone matching that especially if Giannis says he specifically wants to go to the warriors

If they do they better draft someone who can replace Klay at least Partially and I’m not talking about Andrew Wiggins

No. I selfishly want Klay to stay a Warrior his whole career, and I don't buy into the idea that we *need* a tank like Giannis. If the Warriors move away from their brand, I'll probably watch less.

Wiggins and paschall + all the first round picks for Giannis.i honestly will trade draymond in a heartbeat and leave Wiggins. I don't see how draymond and Giannis will work. Draymond likes to dominate and Giannis will never allow a meh player like Draymond to dominate him. I don't know how the egos will be checked but if I was Giannis, I'll tell Myers I'm willing to come as long as I don't want to see any bit of draymond again.. It's that simple..

Guys , it’s very simple. Curry and klay are irreplaceable and will not be traded In a Giannis trade (or anybody else like Embiid, Gobert...). Everybody else can go .

I mentioned this in the previous article, but the spacing seems pretty bad-mediocre if you replaced Klay with Giannis. Teams have given Giannis fits by packing the paint, and if Curry is the only elite shooter on the floor, you can best believe that teams will just dare Wiggins/Dray/EP to beat them.

Curry would likely have simalar issues, given that he would have to create with even less spacing a la Giannis. Could they make it work? Yea, probably. But it wouldnt shock me at all if they lost a series against a great defensive team who completely abuse a lineup with only one outside threat.

the real question here isn't if "I" would trade Klay for Giannis (which is a pretty strong no); but rather if we think Lacob and the ownership group would do so.

That's a much different question, and I'm pretty sure the team would trade anyone not named Steph Curry

To me, it's not a tough question and sentimentality doesn't hold a candle to getting a player like Giannis. My view will not be a popular one with many fans, but I'd do this trade in a heartbeat if Milwaukee put it on the table and so would Lacob & Cie. It would be a guarantee of top level play for several years to come and I do think the future is important to the team. Of course, I don't think this will ever happen and I'm glad to have Klay return, but this team will need a few tweaks to continue to contend. Being competitive and being a contender are not the same. You build a team around certain players but Klay is not one of them. Steph and Giannis are. There are better SG's than Klay right now but he fits very nicely with Curry. Since we don't have to do a complete rebuild. The Warriors need to get someone who is dominant at their position and has that killer shot that can be relied on. Only Curry is a dominant player on the team. That's why KD was so important in grabbing those 2 titles. Without him, the odds are against them. The team needs better talent on the bench. Last year's crop will not do it. They need players who can step up and start if needs be and they don't have to be old and desparate for a ring.

No. One of you guys (or was it at The Athletic?) that Klay was the best player on the court the game he blew his ACL. Yes, he is a Superstar. But he was becoming a Super SuperStar, if that is possible. We don't know Klay's ceiling. How about 37 points a quarter for 3 quarters? Or 18 3s in a game? 90 points in 45 minutes. Of course, some of these were made possible by Curry. But every so often Klay lights it up with transcendent shooting and clutch play.

Here's what's going to happen. Klay comes back when the season starts again in December. His leg is solid (my ACL recovery took a full year without Klay's professionally guided rehab) and his mind is fresh. It takes one or two games to regain NBA speed. Then he goes on a ridiculous, consistent tear, taking it to the hoop and popping 3s. He averages 41 points on 65%, 58% (3s) and 91% at the line, winning the MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, Comeback Player of the Year, and runner-up Finals MVP (Curry gets one). After playing 13 more years (winning many more awards), he retires to China, where he treated like a God, and has 176 children from his many wives, personally solving China's disastrous demographic collapse.

So Giannis for Klay? No.

Kudos Apricot for asking the tough question! I don't think the Bucks are going to trade Giannis, but if they do, and he somehow comes to the Warriors it almost assuredly costs Klay plus all the other picks. It's just fantasy-land to assume the Bucks are going to trade Giannis for Dray or Wiggins and a couple lottery picks.

Basketball wise - I think Giannis has legit, top 2 or 3 all time potential. He's got the magical cocktail of physical superiority with work ethic and a cutthroat compettive spirit. So if I'm the GM of the Warriors and the Bucks actually offer that? Yeah I have to trade my 30 year old SG coming off an ACL with a few picks and get the 25 year old about to be back to back MVP who's just scratching the surface of his talent. I have to make that trade.

As a fan? I'm a dumb sap. I love Klay. He'd already exceeded what I thought was possible for him, and he was reaching an even higher level in the most recent Finals. Doing multiple times, consistently that unconscious level he'd flashed only once in a while. So I was and am very excited to see what the future holds. I think Klay nearing Steph's star level is one of the key's to getting another ring for them. It's what my basketball heart wants.

I bit.

It’s also the chemistry. Lacob and Gruber have shown commitment to the team. Throwing Klay overboard would be devastating to team spirit. You might as well swap Kerr for Budenholzer while you’re about it.
