Nesmith was my pick here. Lots of skill at that ever-important middle height range where you can switch almost anywhere. That puts him in a sort of similar bucket to Klay, Shaun, Andre, & others. A team like the Warriors could use almost any number of those types of guys.

So do you prefer the physically gifted who could potentially grow in skillset or the skilled shooter who can potentially grow in defense/strength? I prefer the latter since I have hopes that Looney and Chriss will play big minutes for us at the 5 and because I think it's easier to slide into a defensive system with a lack of defensive prowess than to slide into an offensive system without the offensive talent. Think adding a killer shooter will help with the lack of shooting but decent playmaking from our current bench. Nesmith wouldn't have to handle the ball, he'll have to move off-ball and have Klay + Poole or Bowman to make the plays. I'm not high on either of them as I don't think either will be able to function with an adequate role for a new death lineup, but I'll put in the vote for Nesmith.

I thought Nesmith had a chance at the upset, but not looking likely. LGW votes keeping Nesmith alive, but Twitter is overwhelmingly pro-Wiseman. Currently 70.8%-29.2% Wiseman with weighted LGW votes.

Honestly not thrilled with Wiseman; Fubs have obviously been looking for a legit 7 footer ever since Bogut left, but everything that Wiseman excels at is just about the opposite of what the Dubs need him to do, not to mention he only played like 3 games this season.

As for Neismith, he is obviously the type of player the Warriors prefer. 3nd wing with an insane shot only makes him look like a BETTER candidate. He would be ideal if not for his apparent injury-proneness. Dubs have snagged players with season ending injuries before in the late 1st round, would not be opposed to doing the same with this guy.

Sign me up for Neismith.

I wouldn’t want either. Based on these scouting reports, all Nesmith can do is shoot; he offers little else. That would be like drafting Kyle Korver with a top 5 pick. Wiseman’s only actual skill is his size; everything else is projection. You don’t draft a one-trick pony that high.

If I had to choose, I’d take Wiseman on the very off chance he develops skills outside his athleticism.

A highly rated HS center? Hard Pass until Picking in the late teens or lower. Nesmith by default. Huge bonus if his improvement was real and not just a small sample size.

These matchups are pretty fun. Give me Nesmith. He already knows how to run around doing the NBA screening actions the Warriors do. He was a flamethrowing 3P shooter at a huge volume last year. He's got good size at the wing and competes on D. How does he not fit the Warriors?

I think Wiseman is actually a safe draft pick too. The tools are exceptional. At the least, I think he'll end up as a very good defensive C who'll rebound and finish lobs. He's got a solid mid range jump shot. I don't think he'll be a real go to scorer like Embiid is, or Ayton might be. He just doesn't look as fluid as those guys. I'm not sure whether the 3P will come.

Do we need to draft a big? I realize that length and explosiveness have been on the Warriors wish list for a while (RIP Damien Jones, Destis Ezeli) but the literally just pulled two young, talented bigs off the scrap heap last year(Bender, Chriss) and had previously signed another(Cauley-Stein) extremely cheap. I think Wiseman would have to be can’t miss talent to be the selection here...and that’s not what I’ve been reading. On the other hand, the Warriors can absolutely use another knock down shooter with defensive upside. Those guys seem to be less available on the cheap these days. So having watched neither player for any length of time, I’ll vote Nesmith.
