Eh, I don't think that's it at all. How many people here knew Steph shot 55% from three from 3-10 this year? I knew it was high but I didn't know the exact figure until I looked it up. I just wish someone would tweet him.
I can believe he didn't know. But then he shouldn't say, "Nobody does that," especially given that it's easy to look up. He could have said, "It's astounding. Only LeBron and Steph Curry have ever done it" -- if, in fact, that's true.
No argument on the superiority of the locker room and overall culture of the Dubs vs. the Wolves. But I thought (and still think) punching a teammate in the face, not physically provoked, should be an automatic suspension.
A is of course Jordan Poole, in a season which started with the punch, during which 75% of Dub Nation wanted him shipped out of town, and national pundits ranked him among the worst contracts in the league.
I really hope he focuses on his on ball defense and rebounding this offseason... he has moments where he moves his feet and really does look like a solid defender, and has a ~6'7" wingspan which isn't bad for a guard, but seems to get undisciplined/frustrated/distracted way too much... I think he (and JK) also defends as though the possession ends once the shot is in the air instead of defending through the defensive rebound.
As far as I can tell, this is the first season since 1983-1984 where no team in the Western Conference has a point differential above 4. Seems like a perfect season for a 6 seed to make the Finals.
They're coming on at the right time. I would /love/ for them to leave a positive imprint on these playoffs. Wouldn't it be something if this was the 1.5 gen championship?
The conventional wisdom is that Wiggins will need some time to reacclimate, but I'm not so sure. He said he's in good shape, he gets a week of practice. He'll probably come off the bench to start off, but also: he's a pretty consistent fellow. He gets ribbed around here for scoring his average every night, but that's the guy he is. His averages the last three years are basically the same. I give him maybe a game and a half tops to be himself.
You left out the Poole, Kuminga, Moody, and DDV games. I would have Loon and GPII games in there, but they tends to do their thing game in, game out. Love those guys.
I can't wait to see our series against Sacto. No better scenario for me than this showdown. Mike Brown's team against Steve Kerr's. Finally, one of these teams gets bragging rights over this season. Neither team will want to be eliminated in the first round. I give the edge to the Warriors only because of their DNA, but an upset is possible considering how the two teams have played all season, Sacto being the more consistent one and keeping near the top. Great fun.............
So far, the Warriors have NO claim to bragging rights over this season. They made it into the top 6, which was the main goal, and I'm happy with that. But in terms of bragging rights, it's no contest so far. Sacramento by a wide margin. They played great, finished #3, and Mike Brown is looking like the coach of the year. Super happy for them.
Hate for their run to end this way, but it is better for the Warriors. Less travel and an extra week to ramp up Wiggs -- so long as the Ws can defeat these guys.
Elsewhere in the bracket, I find myself rooting for the Lakers to take the #7 seed and match up against the Grizz. Don't care so much who wins that one as long as it's arduous and wears down both sides. But I do think it would be hilarious if the LAL knock out the big mouth dynasty and match up against the Dubs -- a series in which Golden State would have home court(!) and would have light travel.
On the other side of the bracket, I want Phoenix to be knocked out ASAP but would also find it delicious to end their feeble championship hopes in the conference finals against a valiant Durant and CP3 gimping along as he usually is by that stage.
Are you already picking out the ice cream? I'm vacillating between vanilla with caramel and something purple to honor the Kangs (thank God there is no actual grape flavored ice cream but blueberry would be a good choice if I can find it).
If you think about it, the Kings haven't really been that much more consistent than the Warriors. We had Wiggins miss 45 games/Curry miss 26 games while the Kings have been comparatively healthy essentially the entire year.
Despite this all, they've only won four more games than us this year!
I don't think it's quite as close or as epic as you're seeing it. I think it might be a fairly easy road for the Warriors. Who will soon enough, if these playoffs go as we hope, start getting called the Road Warriors, and everyone will think that they're clever and that that's amusing, but I made it up and it's not.
Sacto ended up with 4 wins more than the warriors - this is despite have one of the greatest offensive seasons by a team in NBA history. This is what entire sac nation is dreaming about as their reasons for optimism in taking down the DUBS!
But what else could this stat tell us - well for one, their defense sucks pretty bad and we have two of the greatest shooters on our team!
You don't think the same can be said of us? Our defense sucks pretty bad, too. Plus, we haven't been wizards on the road, have we. In any case, good drama awaits us.
There is recent defensive improvement for the Dubs, but not for the Kings. Pre all star break, Dubs’ defense ranking was 20 and Kings were 23. Since the all star break, Dubs defensive ranking is 7 and Kings is 24.
GPII getting back on court has made a difference. If Wiggs can look anything like his old self, you can throw out what the Ws did previously. This will hopefully be a different team defensively.
And yes, I know I'm a homer. I make no apology for that.
our season was largely without important pieces. More importanty, our offense and defensive ratings seems to heading closer to top 10 over the last 15 games or so - still without Wiggins - so our case is quite a bit different as we do have defense - though off and on, but they have NEVER had any defense this season - ands it not going to suddenly appear in the playoffs.
They seem better since GPII has been enfolded. If Wiggs can come back that's something approaching his usual play, the defense is going to be much better than it has been.
But we're gonna get Wiggs back, GP2's now in the fold, and DDV will be a factor on D coming off the bench. The 82 game Dubs are in the rear-view mirror; make way for the 16 win Dubs!
Lol...he finally smiled when he had the ball in his hands. Made up for a lot of lost time in a brilliant career. Definitely best shooting backcourt in the history of the game. He is right up there with Steph, in spite of all the sugar he went through.
Also I'm catching up on what happened in these other games and I'm sorry, Kenneth Lofton Jr scored 42 points and had 14 rebounds? One of the most interesting players in the league lol, people assumed when he bullied Holmgren in Summer League that it was because Holmgren was overrated but perhaps Lofton is actually just good.
EDIT: And yes I know they were playing fake basketball against a G-League caliber team. 17 for 25 for 42 points is 17 for 25 for 42 points though.
Gotta bring this energy back:

Bill Simmons in his latest pod:
"LeBron James, in that 2014 season, shot 55% from 3-10 feet - which is like, astounding - nobody does that"
Hey Bill, someone else did that, this year - Steph Curry.
He fashions himself a basketball aficionado... but he's really just a Celtics fan living in LA with a big media megaphone.
Eh, I don't think that's it at all. How many people here knew Steph shot 55% from three from 3-10 this year? I knew it was high but I didn't know the exact figure until I looked it up. I just wish someone would tweet him.

Sure, most people don't know these deep NBA statistics... but Simmons is still just a Celtics fan living in LA...

I hate to say it, but I think the Minnesota organization handled this better than the Warriors did -- and at a more costly time.
Unlike the Wolves, the Warriors had and have a locker room that could hold Draymond accountable far better than any suspension would have.
No argument on the superiority of the locker room and overall culture of the Dubs vs. the Wolves. But I thought (and still think) punching a teammate in the face, not physically provoked, should be an automatic suspension.
Bummer. I'll be watching that Laker game tomorrow rooting for the Timberwolves.
Young 6’-4” shooting guard comparison (per 36)
Player A: 24.5 pts on .573 TS / 5.4 ast
Player B: 24.7 pts on .564 TS / 4.4 ast
A is of course Jordan Poole, in a season which started with the punch, during which 75% of Dub Nation wanted him shipped out of town, and national pundits ranked him among the worst contracts in the league.
Player B is budding superstar Anthony Edwards.
Player B is a better rebounder and defender fwiw… but Jordan is gonna retake a leap next year and prove he’s worth the contract
Yeah despite Poole's struggles offensively throughout the year, that never bothered me personally. It was the lack of effort on the defensive end
I really hope he focuses on his on ball defense and rebounding this offseason... he has moments where he moves his feet and really does look like a solid defender, and has a ~6'7" wingspan which isn't bad for a guard, but seems to get undisciplined/frustrated/distracted way too much... Golden One Center?
More like Golden State Won Center lolamirite?
But all kidding aside, we gotta pack those away games - this series is going to be so much fun simply due to the electricity in both arenas alone.
It's wild that the Kings and Warriors have never been good at the same time, and when it finally happens, we get to see them go head to head.
And if you don't like that, you don't like NBA basketball!
Ooh ... somebody listened to Grant Napear's calls.
Major douchebag (and probably racist), but a good play-by-play guy. Glad he's gone, though. Mark Jones and Kayte are a good crew.
BINGO. Well-said, my friend....
JK and MM splits are crazy this year. Sooooo much better post ASB
They're coming on at the right time. I would /love/ for them to leave a positive imprint on these playoffs. Wouldn't it be something if this was the 1.5 gen championship?
Both doubled their assists this year as well

I think word is he's going to be starting immediately
I agree on offense, but I think it could take him a series to really be that stopper we saw last year
48 wins got you the 3 seed this year in the WC. 48 wins in 2007-08 for the Dubs and they missed the playoffs. Best non playoff team ive ever witnessed
And we started 0-8 that year too
Ok little homies, listen up. The formula is simple. In the postseason 3 Klay games, 3 Dray$ games, and 6 Curry games = NBA Finals. So let’s ride!
You left out the Poole, Kuminga, Moody, and DDV games. I would have Loon and GPII games in there, but they tends to do their thing game in, game out. Love those guys.
Clippers: I beat the short-handed Suns, but at what cost?
Um, what cost?
They get to face the Suns with CP3, Booker, and Durant. If the Clippers don't get PG back soon, it's gonna be a short series.
Actually, I don't know if they have a chance even with PG healthy.
They barely squeaked by the Suns' bench mob at the end of the season, just to earn the right to face the Suns at full power in round one. Wild.
Not that we can talk much after how much of a scare Sac gave us without all their guys the other day.
Warriors Nation today, watching the rest of the western conference implode....

It will be fun but I’m sorry to say the Warriors will win 4-0.
You should be sorry.
No need to be sorry. I think that would be great, but the gentleman's sweep would be... gentlemanly to our Sacto brethern and sistern...
Do you really think that Sacto is that bad of a team?
Need a reassessment?
We all know they’ll go for the gentleman’s sweep.
Of course they will. Sacto will be thinking the same way as every playoff team will.
Not sorry.
Are you already picking out the ice cream? I'm vacillating between vanilla with caramel and something purple to honor the Kangs (thank God there is no actual grape flavored ice cream but blueberry would be a good choice if I can find it).
Does Sorbet count? What about Gelati?
Ube from Mitchell's

GREAT STUFF. THANKS FOR SHARING.
Weibo, I'm impressed.
found. the link in the r/warriors reddit - the original link cut off JP's game ball - another poster posted this weibo link
Hahahah
Donte says to klay: smile dammit!
Lol...he finally smiled when he had the ball in his hands. Made up for a lot of lost time in a brilliant career. Definitely best shooting backcourt in the history of the game. He is right up there with Steph, in spite of all the sugar he went through.

That Warrior game felt like bullying.
Or as I call it, a clubbing baby seals game.
It was. Particularly when they kept taking 3's in the fourth.
With about 7 minutes left, they could have dribbled it over the center line and just taken a 24 second violation each time and still won.
Sometimes you just have to take care of business, even if it means whipping a bunch of scrubs.
