Has everyone considered what the next 4 year's of sports media would be like if Durant returned? I mean really considered it? We all love basketball. We all consume our fair share of content. If Durant joins the Warriors again, just imagine yourself strapped to a chair with your eyes taped open, ala Roddy McDowell in A Clockwork Orange, and being forced to watch 50 Shades of Gray over and over again for the next 4 years.
I agree with NBC’s Monty Poole that mortgaging our lottery picks, future draft picks, and the new and improved All-Star Wigs for just a 34 yr old Durant is absurd! We won without KD, we should rely on our draft picks, our young lions, who gained invaluable experience winning a chip. How rare is that!
One thing for sure, all rings are equal but some more equal than others. We saw how much this last one meant. That's gone with KD on the team. I don't see why Steph would want KD either. He's a top 10 player now and another ring without KD moves him into the top 7, top 6. Unless he doesn't care about all of that. I also just don't see how you trust KD to stay more than 2 years. He's running away from a situation that he created. He was not traded to the Nets, he chose to go there.
In case this hasn’t been shared yet - good news from Anthony Slater, The Athletic.
“James Wiseman played 5-on-5 full contact today for the first time in this reintegration. He remains on track for a likely summer league appearance in Las Vegas at some point. Jonathan Kuminga will meet team in Vegas, could get some action.”
Is it just me or does this lack of news sound an awful lot like Bob Meyers has the roster wrapped up? The fact that JTA and D Lee have found landing spots so quickly tells me Bob had their roster spots filled weeks ago.
Barbershop debate. There has been a lot of talk about Curry cracking the top 10 (or 15) all time players. However you parse the debate, one thing is for sure: Curry has passed Durant on the list. Is Durant the most lethal scorer in NBA history? Perhaps. But there is more to the game scoring only.
Here is what Curry passing Durant on the All Time List looks like. In this video, Curry is played by Dave Wottle, the dude in the funny hat.
Just got home from Cali Classic, watched all of both games. There were some good players, unfortunately mostly not in warriors jerseys. Of our home town squad, a couple of observations:
Quinones looked really good in warmups, he was draining a lot of threes with a smooth shot. On the court he looked not as good but still decent, until he did hit a couple late. We may see him in the next two years to see how he does.
Jessup does not look good. As one poster said, his jump shot looks weird, he does this weird ball rotation thing right before he fires which looks really unnatural.
Moody did look like one of the better players on the court, but clearly was handling the ball more than he normally does. That’s what summer league is for.
I hope Gui plays G league, He seemed not quite prepared for the speed of these games. My guess is his league does not have the athleticism. A year in the US and he may be legit.
It was a fun event. The half time show from the first game was these trampoline dunk guys. They were good.
anyone that was at the game tonight… that was JTA that showed up in the lakers jersey right? i was sitting on the opposite side so it was hard to see him and i don’t recall them
announcing his presence.
also, time to scout #55 during the kiddies half time game. that little kid put on a show, even did stephs nighty night celebration lol
"Here’s the full list of players currently on designated rookie extensions:
Bam Adebayo (Heat)
Devin Booker (Suns)
Luka Doncic (Mavericks)
Joel Embiid (Sixers)
De’Aaron Fox (Kings)
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Thunder)
Donovan Mitchell (Jazz)
Jamal Murray (Nuggets)
Michael Porter Jr. (Nuggets)
Ben Simmons (Nets)
Jayson Tatum (Celtics)
Karl-Anthony Towns (Timberwolves)
Andrew Wiggins (Warriors)
Trae Young (Hawks)
[Edit: Garland too maybe?]
An NBA team is permitted to carry up to two players on designated rookie extensions, as the Nuggets are with Murray and Porter. However, a team cannot carry two designated rookies if both of those players were acquired via trade."
Laker Summer League team is loaded for a team with no picks. The continuity they have with a lot of those guys like Bass/McClung/Jones playing in the G-League showed, whereas the Warriors looked pretty disorganized.
Edit: Apparently Garland signed a designated rookie max, so they'd have to re-route Simmons to a different team.
I still think it's all a smoke screen from the Warriors front office, but if the trade was going to go through, I think that the Cavs might be willing to enter as third team and re-route Simmons for Love (who the Nets would probably be fine with on an expiring contract). They were occasionally linked to Simmons a few times before the Harden trade, and I'm sure the Cavs wouldn't mind having another tall, defensive player.
Summer League 2. More of the Gui Santos Show, please. 4:30pm. LAL v GSW. Plus open thread.

I'll pass.
Durant reuniting with Warriors highly unlikely: https://theathletic.com/news/kevin-durant-trade-warriors/6QiJnQClVJj6/

Still don't see it happening but these reports coming out lol
All Quiet on the Western Conference Front.

The dream from after the draft of getting to watch a fun 5-7 deep group of youngins play this summer died a sad death.
I get it though, better JW + PBJ are healthy for the regular season.
Missing out on watching Rollins has been the real shame.

If Durant doesn't get traded soon I wonder if he'll call up harden and ask if he can borrow his fat suit.

Based on this tweet, I expect Kuminga to play 1 game max in Vegas
