So I was the one to request some musical variety last week and since Duby seems to be open to a crowdsourcing type of thing, I'd like to kick off the contributions with one of my favorite artists and an Oakland native in tUnE-yArDs. This one may be familiar to anyone who was plugged into the bay area music scene 7 years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbiFcPhccu8

Saw tUnE-yArDs live. Was powerful. I have a harder time listening to the studio records. Merrill is intense.

Did you go see them live at Stern Grove park in SF a few years ago? That was a pretty fantastic performance. Agree she is better live but I still enjoy listening to them on youtube or spotify.

Not that show. I don't recall which venue it was, but it was indoors a few years ago.

This game aside, I have an issue on my mind. Now, let's first stipulate: I love Klay. I'm *still* all earl about some of his great games, replay them in my mind or in actuality. Can't wait for him to come back, hope he's his old self.

BUT I think the narrative certainly among the chattering classes is that the Dubs are "Waiting for Klay to come back, and then they'll truly be a contender." Hold up a sec. You're telling me that the best team in the league, with the best defense and an absolutely incendiary offensive player plus a deep bench, isn't a contender without Klay? I'm over it. I thought the same thing in the summer -- we gotta just treat water until Klay comes back. Now? Of COURSE I want him back, of COURSE I want him to be great. But I also think the team as it is is better than the other teams as they are. Do you?

Don't listen to them. They all think that they're Earl and they try to be Earl with their hot takes, but we all know the truth. They wouldn't know real Earl if it bit them in the eye.

We'll let Klay ease in, keeping it Earl all the while. It's still too earl to know anything for sure.

In a couple games, we have a pretty hard stretch - 76ers, Blazers, @Clippers, @Suns, Suns. Clippers is the one I'm most interested in. See if Steph struggles again against their defense.

The first game was a battle, for sure, but I wouldn't describe 45 points on 16/25 shooting with 10 rebounds as "struggling."

That first Clips game was my favorite of the year so far. Extremely high level of play by both sides. (Of course I enjoyed the Brooklyn game, too, but Brooklyn wasn't what they could be - hampered by the injury to Harris and the MIA flat earther.)

Will the Sixers have Embiid back?

As I said at the start, I am always satisfied with a .500 road trip. Too much stuff happens to take road dominance for granted… a home team gets hot, or Harden does a flying karate kick into your pelvis, or Kerr rests a third of the team…

If you're gonna roll the dice on playing without the starts, a 4-10 team is a good choice. Other than Jerami Grant I have no confidence in any Piston. I barely recognize some of the names and not because I don't pay attention. The rookie looks good but hey: rookies. Everyone on our bench wants more PT. Here you go! Make it count!

I like this Korean song’s English part for Warriors.

Don’t overthink it. The game is Detroit AKA Motown. Pop on the game, pour a cocktail, turn the sound off, turn on Stevie or Marvin (or Smokey or Gladys or the Supremes or the Temptations….)

Can’t lose. Great Friday

Don't forget the Four Tops and Martha & the Vandellas!!

Fo sho. Took my own advice and was listening to some motown. That'll be my official song recommendation, "Bernadette" The Four Tops

Poole &/or Bjelica need to have 10+ assists today.

I think tonight we see Poole's best game of the season. Looking forward to it!

I just hope he shoots better than 30% on 3s

One can hope! He's gonna get 35 minutes to try, I'm sure.

This one was new to me: "Stephen Curry is the first player in the last 25 seasons to double up an opposing team in points and assists in a 4th quarter - Elias"

No Steph, Dray, Dre, Otto (or Klay or James, obv).

So:

Payton-Chiozza

Poole-Lee

Wiggins-Moody

JTA-Kuminga

Looney-BJelly

I still … kinda like that team?

Anche io :)

Sleepy, your starting squad would be *really* good defensively.

If the game turns into a Poole party and Wiggins is aggro-Wiggins tonight, could be a win.

Poole should have some fans there from his days at Michigan.

Reminds me of when the Spurs would sit Duncan, Paker, Ginobili all in one go. Always seemed like they won those games with a big game out of Belinelli (or some other random role player).

You've still got a solid deep roster without an obvious weakness. The psychology of it for the players is like we can step up for one game. And for the coaches they can probably concoct a tricky gameplan.

For the Spurs, in retrospect, it's nice to still be playing a young Kawhi Leonard. Maybe we'll have those nice retrospective games.

yeah, I'm honestly kinda into whatever the hell we are going to see tonight. Outside of Steph, the team has been on a cold shooting streak recently, but hopefully we should be ok against the Pistons.

I'm interested to see what a full game without Curry and Dray looks like though. It's funny to think how much those two have flipped in my head. Like, is Curry out more important to the defense than having Green out is for the offense?

Remove the security blanket, and maybe they take themselves more seriously instead of thinking "Steph is so hot, I probably shouldn't take this shot even though it's wide open". Here's to hoping!
