On a side note, Hartenstein was ranked the 13th best Center in basketball on a down year according to RAPTOR. He accomplished this primarily on the back of his defense, where he was the 7th best center in the NBA.

Hartenstein is one of the best defensive centers and has one of the highest rebounding % as well. If he could simply be in the right team that utilizes his passing abilities (like the Warriors), his scoring limitations could be hidden and he could be celebrated for the underrated player he is.

Sports cliches that are appropriate:

It's always darkest before the dunk. -- Unknown

Let's play two (halves)! -- Yogi Berra

I'm not a robot! I am however, annoyingly inconsistent -- Draymond Green and/or Jordan Poole

Smooth seas never made a good sailor. Neither did pot, poor shot selection, and forgetting to watch the ball as it's passed you. -- Klay

Though shalt not trip AD, unless you really, really need to -- Moses [ Moody ] 11th commandment

I think if the Dubs lose this series there's going to be a lot of changes and that makes me sad. I'm most bummed about Poole being so lost, but Kuminga's banishment to the bench is annoying. You're supposed to dance with the ones that brung ya.

I agree with others that Kerr doesn't seem to know what he's doing sometimes these days. Having GP2 on the bench in the 4th makes zero sense, unless he really was seriously ill (from what I understand, he almost vomited on the court before he ran off early in the game).

3-1 comeback time? Poole/Klay get hot for a three game stretch is definitely possible.

Wondering how illness affected this game. First Wiggins was sick, then Looney is sick, now, GPIIi is sick? Anyone else?

We got to have more court awareness as a team in the playoffs. It's not ideal but a timeout should have been called the moment GP2 stepped off. We have to value every possession.

God, please stop rewarding this crap in basketball. DDV is guilty of this sometimes as well. Just because a guy launches himself to the moon doesn't mean it's automatically an illegal screen.

I've seen too much greatness from this group to count them out before the last buzzer sounds. Having said that, I'm gonna take a little break because the mood has gotten a bit too bleak—here and in my own heart. Hang in there, all.

(Oh, and if things don't go our way, I'd like to request a special 'Jordan Poole trade ideas' thread—I know not everyone likes that sort of thing, but trade machine is my only Plan B for the spring. That, some WNBA, and rooting for a Denver-Miami finals because fuck it.)

If Draymond hits the lay up when we were down 1. The ball most likely wouldve been in Lebum or AD’s hands to end the game and had they made the shot, we would’ve been hearing about their greatness today so I’m glad we don’t have to deal with that.

Interesting read on Poole by TK

https://theathletic.com/4501492/2023/05/09/jordan-poole-warriors-lakers-game-4/

"But Poole’s lack of playoff toughness and his lack of interest in discussing what he’s accountable for in this situation just makes Poole seem like something less than a full partner in the Warriors’ operation these days. Like he’s not quite investing his soul into this. Like his teammates and coaches aren’t quite investing in him, either. I mean, how could they?"

And it ends with this

"The main guys will decide how the rest of this postseason goes. They’ll protect Poole as much as they can, because that’s what the main guys do. But we all know that Curry, Klay and Draymond didn’t need others to protect them like this when they were young. They just performed and won when it was the toughest. That’s how you become a main guy. And if you don’t do any of this, it’s how you show that you probably never will be one."

We can't put in Kuminga or Lamb, but Lakers can put in Lonnie "Some People Call Me MJ" Walker IV. (His stats this season were virtually the same as Kuminga's. )

This is what it looks like when you take a player from your bench and invest some faith in him in the playoffs, and he provides a sudden burst of energy to surprise the other team.

Ham 1, Kerr 0.

Steph n Dray really choked it last night. Giving ppl ammo to say that Steph isn’t clutch. Why we didn’t call time out or get a shot off down 3 was disgusting. Who were you passing to in the end Steph? You looked so clueless throwing the ball away, it was depressing since you had a good game up to that point. If we lose ppl will come up with ways to say Lebron is better than Steph. I wonder where we would be without KD destroying Lebum and ending the Cavs run. Would we have won? I guess no point in that cuz that’s history. But should I appreciate KD more? Since I’m hoping he would be eliminated and never win a championship without us again.

Kerr that’s what happens when you let Klay chuck poor shot selections all year. You got to live with what you created. Poole too that’s a creature of your creation, you’d been letting him think he’s the next Curry and given him the green light for far too long. This Guy think he’s Curry but doesn’t play like it nor have the skills to shoot like him and acts like Harden on the sidelines. Why the hell does he get to heave 29 footers all game long, any logical person would shoot closer to the 3 pt line especially if their shots aren’t falling. This guy will get paid close to a max contract and plays like a 24 hour fitness casual, god have mercy on us.

Such a weird, weird game.

Wait, GPII ran off the court?? Then just came back and played???

AD was unstoppable in the first half; then disappeared again???

Except at the end, when Steph went hero ball against AD, insisting on an iso 3, and missed several times?? Wiggins and Klay were only mediocre??

Moses Moody was our most dependable bench player??

The only normal things was abject failure of bench: Poole can't make shots and JK, Andre and Lamb didn't play.

Was deeply unhappy at the end of that game, sank into depression all evening, no longer speaking to family, kicked the dog, took no pleasure in it.

It's possible, just vaguely, potentially possible, that I take sports way too seriously.

Lots went wrong last night, especially in the end of the game.

Championship DNA got a bit unravelled....

Some of what I read here after the game seemed way too fatalistic for me as a fan.

Can't advocate trading guys (most of team?) now.

These playoffs do show how hard it is to win- put together a roster, pay it, coach it... players play hard and with composure, and utilize the talents that you have, mesh with teammates, and withstand injuries....

Sad, but not ready to give up hope. The season is not over yet.
