So, is tonight the night we finally bust out the Steph-Moody-Wiggs-Kuminga-Dray starting lineup that we all know would be totally awesome but somehow never get to see?
• JK back and healthy
• Moods on a heater
• Smallball opponent full of fast, athletic young wings
Nah I’m good with the starting lineup currently. Id obviously like to see what Moody does in place of Klay but they look a lot more cohesive defensively. They are moving like one singular unit out there which hasn’t seemed to be the case anytime Kuminga is out there at least to the eye test
Kerr has talked before (in reference to Podz, not Kuminga) about it being a problem having two roamers defensively. You can handle having one, Draymond, because everyone else can cover when they’re out of position. But when you have two you don’t have enough people to cover the resulting gaps. To my eye Kuminga tends to roam fairly often, and at times he really shouldn’t like when his man is a knockdown catch and shoot threat. They don’t have that issue with the current starting lineup. And while Klay’s a little lower these days Dray and TJD do an excellent job of rotating in when necessary, so him getting beat by quick guards is less of a worry.
Going small with Kuminga starting and Draymond at the 5 is always going to be about generating offense at the expense of some defense to be fair, but I’d rather have it as an option to throw out rather than the go to starting strat.
Agreed, though I'd add that, also, Dray doesn't roam "randomly" and has a preternatural ability to do it at the right time and also to know when and be able to recover to his own responsibility so his roaming doesn't typically leave his man open for very long while the others tend to lose their man when roaming and then ... bad things happen.
Listening to what the Warriors' players and coaches have been saying the most important thing right now is to win games. Teams win games by playing well and playing well wins games (Duh).
So, for me, any emphasis should be on playing well to win as many games as the team can.
That should carry over into any play-in and play-off scenarios.
Not sure if the Lakers are going to lose much if they play all the stars 38 minutes a night every night. Also not sure how much they'll have left in the tank for the playoffs.
I'm on the fence if I think the Dubs should:
A) Make a push up to the Lakers game. If they win and are more or less tied with the Lakers, keep playing everyone, otherwise rest the OGs for a week
B) Coast for 2 weeks, and target the 10 spot, and crush the Lakers and Kings/Suns who will be exhausted from the end of season push
Probably we'll get C) Run like heck to win as much as possible, get the 10 spot anyway, and lose one of the play in games because Steph is worn out.
I will note that if the Dubs can go 6-1, including beating the Lakers, the Lakers would have to go 4-0 in their other games to hang on to #9, if I am mathing correctly this evening.
Dubs have three losses more than Suns, Kinks, and Pels, and four more than the Mavs.
So, if the Dubs go 7-0, the Mavs and Pels both get an additional loss, and the Dubs would own the tiebreak against Pels. Dubs lose tiebreak vs. Mavs, Suns, and Kings.
That means any one of the following gets the Dubs the 8th seed or better:
(1) Pels go 3-2 or worse vs the Spurs, Suns, Blazers, Kings, and Lakers.
(2) Suns go 2-4 or worse vs Wolves x 2, Pels, Clipps x2, and Kings
(3) Kings go 3-4 or worse vs knicks, celtics, nets, okc, pels, suns, and blazers.
(4) Mavs go 3-3 or worse vs hawks, rockets, hornets, heat, pistons, and okc.
So a couple of weeks ago Brian Windhorst had made a half joking comment about the Lakers making their push with the help of the officials. Then he didn’t try to backtrack but gave some decent basketball takes about why they were primed to make a run. It’s unfortunate though because the Warriors strength right now is defense BUT we won’t be able to play any against the Lakers. I think best case scenario for us is just hoping the Suns drop to 9th and the Lakers play the Kings. Beat the Suns in Phoenix and hope the Kings (more potent offensively) can beat the Lakers and Ill take my chances with the Kings and the officials on the road rather than having to face the Lakers at any point.
We beat them twice in the playoffs last year even coming in with the disadvantage of coming off that game seven at Sacramento with only one day in between. We were right there in the pivotal game four and that easily could have gone our way. Not saying it’s a gimmie or anything but we can totally beat them.
Timpf has a great breakdown of Wiggins on-ball defense vs. Luka is superior to other Dubs, and how it consistently hampered the Mavs defense. He also breaks down the great team defense on traps.
How do non-network commenters get footage? Like Eric, like others who break things down. Where do you get the footage, how do you download it, does this cost buckets of money?
Looking at the standings, we’ve done pretty damn good considering what’s happened this year. Dray missed a bunch of games. Wiggins has been bad more often than not. Looney same thing. Klay been picking it up recently but was not good in the first half of the season.
All that and we’re 4 games behind 6. Kind of sucks dray made us essentially throw this season (barring a miracle) considering we don’t have that many seasons of Steph left
I think the bet is that the young fellas get a lot better while the OGs slowly fade, so we can still be a playoff team next year — especially if Wiggs can be consistently good, more like we've (mostly) seen lately. Getting to the Finals is far tougher of course but then only one team in the west will accomplish that.
"Steph Curry holds the record for the most three-point assists to a single teammate in NBA history, with 614 assists to Klay Thompson. Following closely behind is Draymond Green, who has dished out 598 assists to Steph Curry."
BINGO. THAT, is the GRAVITY of the HOF HOMEGROWN Dynastic CORE/TRIO I talk about. It is synergistic and mutually-supporting...the SUM of it is bigger gravity than just STEPH. That is why I want them on the floor TOGETHER as much as possible. For KLAY it is critical as he relies on catch-n-shoot, whereas STEPH can create his own shot off-the-dribble. I'd love to know how many assists STEPH has to KLAY, also.
Yep...appears so. My bad, also. My intent was to ask how many 3pt assists DRAY HAS TO KLAY, also. That gravity, of course, opens up all types of scores, mid-range, and rim...
Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant and his longtime agent Jim Tanner have parted ways, sources tell ESPN. Tanner had represented Morant since coming out of Murray State as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
Let’s gooooooo Knicks!

In 2016 and 2017 Dubs clinched playoff spots in Feburary.

Did not have "Pelicans fall to a play-in spot" on my bingo card.
After Ingram's injury, could see the possibility
Great job, Cleveland...
Suns looking like they are going to turn the toughest stretch of the season into a push for the 4 seed…
I had a feeling they were going to struggle tonight because of the way they've been playing recently and the fact that they're on a B2B.

Simple goal, "Just Win Baby!"

The problem is that getting the 9 seed isn't that valuable. Does 6-1 or 7-0 give them a chance for 8th?
Dubs have three losses more than Suns, Kinks, and Pels, and four more than the Mavs.

Let’s win out then
Hope wolves and/or pels can contribute to beating the lakers!
Oh wow. Grizzlies beat the Bucks on the road.
Doc is a fraud? Huh, no one could have predicted that.
At least they can stop paying him ... in 2028 when Giannis is 33
And Pelicans lost to Magic.
Is Giannis available now
Yes. Giannis played for 32 minutes tonight. Bucks still doesn't have Lillard, but they have no excuse to lose to a depleted Grizzlies team.
I meant available to move to the DUBS next season 😁
I like this idea. I am totally onboard the CP3 + JK for Giannis train.
We need a starting center, though. Is Giannis going to be our starting center if he joins us?
He's playing at PF. I think he would for the Warriors too.
You don't think they'd take CP3, LQ, Garuba, and a few second round picks? And here I was hoping.... 😉
This trade sounds even better.
Get'er done, MDJ!

You realize if the Kings beat the Lakers as you're saying the Warriors would then play the Lakers in the 2nd play-in game anyway?
Yeah messed that scenario up.

We were right there in the pivotal game four and that easily could have gone our way. Not saying it’s a gimmie or anything but we can totally beat them.
Lakers gonna get the 6 seed, why are we even talking about them being in the playin?!?!
The scariest thing about the Lakers is literally the refs. Wild
Well it's a perfect storm. It's Lebron's whistle + the Lakers whistle + Draymond's reputation = insurmountable.
Same old Lakers game. +14 ft disparity and NO ONE on the Lakers with more then 2 fouls😂🤣 just three minutes left.
Fuck that fakeass team. They literally need the refs just to be in play-in contention

Not sure how people do it, but there are programs that can record your screen, then you just stream the game. (OBS Studio - free)

This season is our last chance imho.
We are not getting younger next year and competition will be just brutal.
Wemby, Memphis back, Houston rising.
Utah is not that bad and has cap space and a lot of picks.
Just to get in play-in next year will be an achievement of it's own.

Let's Go Wizardzzzzz!!!
Looking for JP to get some revenge tonight.
Whelp ..
At least Poole had a good game, dropping an efficient 29 points.
Yeah, they made a run, but too much AD.
Stat I just saw on Warriors World Facebook:

614, see above.

That's just 3s though, right?
