I like Ant, but pretty weak that he walked off the court without shaking hands and then acted pretty childish in the post-game press conference. I get it, he's 22, he's disappointed, but I expected more.

As a conservative, I'm absolutely tickled seeing all these Republicans on Twitter crying about the Trump verdict. It just confirmed what I always suspected, they never ACTUALLY cared about the rule of law/importance of institutions. Hopefully, the two other Trump cases finish similarly.

Now, lets get Biden for failing two fundamental US obligations under customary international law: 1) The duty to prevent genocide, when it is clear that there is a serious risk of genocide, and 2) The obligation to not be complicit or aid and abet a genocide.

I am very conservative - but the GOP is NOT - they are more extreme then I ever want anyone to be.

Conservative to me is very simple - I conserve energy, I conserve my stupidity to myself, I conserve my spending to save for my kids, etc.. - none of this is part of the so called "conservative" republican agenda - they are a trash party!

I’m a paternalistic conservative, a nearly extinct breed in the US beyond the Midwest with the exception of insanely popular governors like Charlie Baker/Phil Scott. I advocate for fiscal conservatism, strongly support unions, am strongly in favor of decentralization of government (in favor of state/local governance), talk constantly about the inefficiencies/waste of our federal government, am a communitarian advocate for traditions, advocate strongly for environmental conservation, and strongly emphasize the development of local communities/families.

So while I'm not a Reaganite/Trumpist, I'm as conservative as they come. I fucking hate the GOP and especially Trump (a traitor to this country).

What is a paternalistic conservative? Fyi, I'm not trying to debate or critique your stance... It's a basketball forum after all. But I am curious what you mean by that phrase?

It's late and I'm about to crash, so I'll substitute my answer with an excellent Wikipedia article.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paternalistic_conservatism#:~:text=Paternalistic%20conservatism%20is%20a%20strand,have%20obligations%20towards%20each%20other.

Also, to understand it specifically within the US context, I'm far more of a Rockerfeller Republican.

...im left of most but enjoyed reading these post. We all need moral lines in the sand that guide us before party or political preferences, and that comes out in your post.

Absolutely. And for what its worth, I work with plenty of leftists (especially anarchists) on a daily basis trying to improve the wellbeing of my community by working to create walkable cities/supporting third places/feeding the homeless.

I've got a ton of respect for them. While we may disagree on larger issues, on a community development level, there's quite a lot of agreement when it comes to policy.

As long as it's not Kyrie making the championship winning last shot, it'll be ... tolerable.

I kind of like Jaden Hardy. For a scoring combo guard type he’s got a really solid looking frame. If he works at it he could be a solid defender which is pretty rare in that type of player

Expand full comment

Do you think he is better than The Podz?

Expand full comment

No I like the Podz more. He’s already better. Different players though.

Hardy could be like a Jordan Clarkson type, except if Clarkson was a solid defender. That’d be a really good player

Expand full comment

Hopefully, we are going to see The Podz become a more aggressive and better shooter. A consistent 3 point shot would see his status shoot up wildly. We know he can pass and rebound but seeing him score1 6ppg (conservative estimate)will give the Warriors a weapon they really need.

Expand full comment

I'm very intrigued to the type of player Podz can be. I don't have a perfect comp in mind for him. But a 21 year old rookie guard that can make such a big impact is rare. I definitely think he'll add to his offensive game.

In terms of scoring it wasn't always there but there was the game against the Wolves and their #1 defense where Steph was out, and then Klay/ Dray got ejected. Podziemski threw the team on his back and damn near won the game himself. He caught the Wolves by surprise for sure, but rookie guards are not supposed to be able to do that.

Expand full comment

The only thing that is static about him is his size. He's a natural ball handler and I would assume he would take over the team when Steph is finished. Does he have enough in his toolbox to do that?

Mavericks beat the Timberwolves 124-103 and win the series 4-1. They will face the Celtics in the NBA Finals in June.

Expand full comment

I don't care too much who wins the Finals, but am glad the Celtics will actually have to face a healthy and worthy opponent.

Expand full comment

I am rooting for the celtics, despite my sports hate for them, and why..

1. Celtics winning will make everybody appreciate Stephs efforts from 2022 even more - he stopped them from being a new dynasty since it is unlikely tatum and brown will be together too long to extend their run!

2. They are already a storied franchise so this is not really going to change anything there

3. Luka is the whiniest player I have ever seen and I cannot stand it - he is ruining the basketball watching experience - unless you only watch highlights!

4. Kyrie is a great player, but I have real issues with his off-the-court stuff.

Lets go Celtics!
