Is it just me or did Kuminga's new clean look make him look considerably shorter?

Expand full comment

Kind of looks like he is not even close to being 6-8 like he was listed at the draft.

I would bet a good amount he is 6-6 in bare feet.

The problem with his lack of size makes him more like an Anthony Edwards and he is not even close to being Anthony Edwards. Sorry JK.

So what's the likely scenario here?

We keep Cp3 and wait out the injury.

Trade him with players/picks for a Siakim rental.

Trade Cp3 plus players/picks for a guy with a longer contract which means we won't duck the tax.

That Chris Paul-Monty Williams bond will never go away. Monty Williams, who coached Paul in New Orleans before reuniting in Phoenix just came to the Warriors locker room asking one question: “Is Chris ok?”

Kuminga said that he appreciates his conversation with Kerr today. Says they didn’t talk much about minutes, but more so about the importance of communication to get a better understanding of expectations and more trust from both sides.

Well, I am going to get to see if my contention that the Warriors will be better off without CP3 (even though he's been good) is true -- not the way I wanted it to happen, though.

Expand full comment

The Warriors are lucky to have him around this season. He is not our future, but he does help our weak team settle down and knows very well what it means to be a leader. That guy lives and breathes basketball and sees the floor as well as anyone that I know of. His execution of the position has helped our offense a lot. He is the main reason Steph's apg has taken a dive this year. Valuable time on the floor is coming to the Podz and Moody. I'm not sure about the wins, though.

I don’t mean to give people false hope, but Kerr suggests Moses Moody will get more minutes after CP3’s injury. https://www.threads.net/@knbr/post/C1v58NQCn_L

Yeah but he also said CoJo will play more yikes

I would guess Cojo is the PG when Curry is off the floor, and Moses will take some of CP's '2nd playmaker on the floor' minutes.

TJD on what CP’s injury: "Chris never loses his voice. So being on the bench and being able to talk to us, that's one of his biggest attributes and that's something he won't lose. He'll still be invested in the game."

I guess we traded for Andre this year

Expand full comment

False equivalency. Andre refused to play for Memphis. CP3 has done everything he was asked to do, he just got hurt.

Expand full comment

I was thinking of Andre on the Warriors last year, not the memphis trade. But I see the connection, I should have been clearer

Expand full comment

Ah, now I understand your comment. True, Dre ended up being a non-playing leader on the bench and in the locker room and for awhile, anyway, CP3 will be the same.

35:38 minutes for JK, no AW down the stretch. I guess Kerr does listen to all the guys with torches and pitchforks outside his door.

Expand full comment

Kuminga always gets bigger minutes against bottom feeders. The real test whether Kuminga's attempted sabotage will have been successful will be against NO - and if it was and he gets 35 minutes that game, we'll lose it for sure.

Expand full comment

NOP will be an interesting study indeed

Expand full comment

I think he listens, but the route forward is still not clear. Last 6:50 min, up 18 against the defending champs and amazing team, he sticks with AW and it's a loss. Last 6:50 min, up 11 against one of the worst teams in league history, he sticks with JK and barely squeaks out a win. To be fair, JK stats, +/-, everything this game was great. Not saying it was a bad choice. But I think the bigger issue is, regardless of whether Kerr makes a mistake of JK or AW to play at a particular moment, it takes an entire team performance to blow some of these leads, and that's what the Dubs are delivering. Which still falls on the coach for sure, but I feel like it's less about specific players and more about maybe just ineffective schemes.

Expand full comment

Typical games. Down to the wire with a fully healthy Denver and close against the Pistons. This is who this team is.

I was hopeful that AW and JK would play together more but it just doesn’t seem to work.

I hate to say it but their only hope is a trade and I just don’t see anyone they can get that would move the needle that much. I don’t think Siakham is the answer.

In 2022 they had Poole who could make up for off nights from Curry or Klay.

They also had Porter who was a guy that fit perfectly with their needs. They also had Payton for most of the games.

This team is really missing what those guys gave them and would be a top 4 seed if they had them playing as they did in 2022.

They don’t.

JK didn't look too good in the 2nd half due to the turnovers. But I'm glad Kerr stuck with him for the entire 4th Q.

Expand full comment

Do you think JK knows about the problems he has with turnovers, some poor decision making?

Expand full comment

I think he needs reps with ball-handling and distribution responsibilities to get good at it. I don’t care if he turns it over at times if he’s the release valve when Steph gets trapped, I want him having to run the 4-on-3 because that’s the only way he’ll get good at it.

Expand full comment

I think the bad decision-making is the reason why Kerr hesitates on playing JK. But in order for him to get better, Kerr has to play him more so that he can learn from those mistakes.

Had a couple rough offensive foul calls.

I do think his handle has gotten better.

Wiggins was also not great (not horrible, but not great), so it was an easy choice for him. Let’s see how it goes when Wiggins is playing well.

Expand full comment

Wiggins looked washed. A step slow, can't elevate, shot is off..I cringe when ever he hoists up a shot and don't even expect he makes them..

Win is a win even against bottom feeder team but against top NBA teams? Don't think Warriors can win in the post season if they even make the Playin..

Currently the "Win by the 3, die by the 3" holds true..if Steph/Klay are hitting 3s Warriors win, if not they lose..also teams can just easily score against the Warriors now..need defense to win championship

Agree the choice was easy but I thought Wiggins looked bad tonight. Contributed very little.

Turnovers … think about it this way: The Pistons had 98 shot attempts, the Warriors 82. 16 fewer shots attempted??? Hard to win that way.

Last night, we shot 54/42/88 with only 8 turnovers and lost. Tonight, we shot 46/42/84 with 16 turnovers and won. Strength of opponent really does matter.
