But on the other hand, we barely held on to win against a team that was 9-25 at tipoff. Like, yeah, we've got some key injuries, but the Hornets are *bad*, they were on the second night of a back-to-back at the end of a 4-game road trip, and they STILL nearly got us a second time this season.
I maintain my position that we need a roster move to put us in position for the championship (beyond just signing 2-way players to the full roster). But the internal development is looking a lot more like I was hoping for at the start of the season, which is very hopeful. (I count DiVincenzo adapting to the season, and Klay calming down, in the category of internal development.)
It's starting to feel like Kuminga at this moment is more help than anyone Lacob could've gotten on the free agent market with his equivalent salary, or the TPMLE, for the rest of this season and the playoffs. And if he continues to improve at his astounding pace, he'll soon be fighting DDV for 7th man honors.
Just saw J-Dub's postgame interview. I was right. He had never played help-defense before the pros. He specifically mentioned that he sometimes gets caught deep in the paint, b/c in HS that's all he ever did, just stand in the deep paint and protect the rim.
I just feel so damn giddy. Nothing makes me happier than seeing a young guy get it. Poole did it last year. JFK this year. There was a one handed rebound a number of games ago and it felt like something changed. The proud papa vibes from Dray, the stupid silly celebrations form Steph and Iggy. This is coming together. It is actually coming together.
Shout out to Poole and Looney for playing in every single game this year so far.
