The Golden State Warriors started off red hot, but cooled off enough to make it interesting at the end. It wasn’t always pretty, but even against the struggling Charlotte Hornets, the Warriors are more than happy to walk away from tonight’s game with a win.
The bulk of the lifting was conducted by Jordan Poole (24 points, 6 assists) and Klay Thompson (29 points (20 in the first half), 5 rebounds, 4 assists); but it was some nifty play on both ends of the court late that probably earned Kuminga the game ball.
After taking a double digit point lead into halftime, the Warriors offense stagnated in the second half, allowing the Hornets to slowly work their way back into this one. It conjured up some repetitive stress memories of the time earlier this season that the Warriors melted down late and blew a lead to this same Charlotte team.
This brings Golden State to 2-0 on this homestand. In case you missed it, Andrew Wiggins is on the mend, but will almost certainly be out for tomorrow’s game with an unrelated new illness. If Klay Thompson sits as well, that’s going to free up a lot of minutes at the wing - which is thankfully good news finally!
It’s a back-to-back tomorrow, so get ready for more hype, hooks, and hijinks as these lovable Warriors defend their homecourt. Till then? We party!
One late add, from the post game media availability. Check out Kerr’s quote on Kuminga. Dude earned a spot in the closing lineup, and then smashed a homerun in crunch time. So rad!
Shout out to Poole and Looney for playing in every single game this year so far.
Love this team, great win.
J-Dub: I am tired of all this LaMelo talk.
JK: I gotchya, Bro.
