My dream scenario. At trade deadline, CP flipped to MIA for Kyle Lowry and Dray flipped to CHI for DeMar DeRozen. These moves would reunite the comedy team of Lowry/DeRozen. For those who don't remember, as members of the Raptors, these guys were the Abbott and Costello of the NBA. Their tag team post game press conferences were the stuff of legend. Win or lose, you get a post game show worth the price of admission.
Reggie Bullock's contract with the Mavericks for next season will be fully guaranteed at midnight at $10.5 million, league sources say. That figure would have dropped to $5.5 million had Dallas waived Bullock before today's deadline.
The Clippers aren’t guaranteeing guard Eric Gordon’s $21 million contract and he’ll become a free agent, sources tell ESPN. Gordon has averaged 16 points on 37 percent three-point shooting in his 15-year career.
not sure of his contract situation in Boston, but it would be funny if Warriors get B. Griffin too..recreate lob city in the Warriors 2nd unit with CP3/Kuminga/GP2, although I don't think Griffin can dunk anymore like he used to.
Dame wants to play with Dray? Curry-Dame-Klay-Wiggins-Dray, anyone? Is Kuminga + Moody + Cp3 + a pick or 2 better than Miami's offer? (joking, but man would that be entertaining - on the offensive end).
The Pelicans and Garrett Temple have agreed to extend the deadline on guaranteeing his $5.4 million contract for the 2023-24 season to July 7, sources told ESPN. The previous deadline was tomorrow.
Pelicans have until tomorrow to pick up or decline the team options on Herb Jones ($1.8m), Naji Marshall ($1.9m) and Willy Hernangomez ($2.6m). Also tomorrow is the deadline for the Pelicans to extend the qualifying offer to Jaxson Hayes.
If Willy Hernangomez shook loose he’d be a great 3rd big even if he’s not a stretch or rim runner. very high IQ player who’s always been solid. I think he’s an ideal “if you need a big body to throw at Jokic or Embiid” guy
A team option is essentially giving the team the option to extend a current contract at the beginning of a season. If that player is waived during the season they’re still owed the money on that contract.
A non-guaranteed contract is giving the team the option to waive that player during the season without needing to pay the rest of the contract, and that salary doesn’t impact the team’s salary. In the context of CP3 this means we can waive him after this season and not owe him any money or have it impact our payroll (thereby getting us potentially under the second apron).
"A thing that is important to note with non-guaranteed contracts: Unlike options, if a team doesn’t want the player, they must waive them. At that point, if they clear waivers, the player is an unrestricted free agent. The team that waived them has no form of free agent rights to make it easier to re-sign said player either.
Another key difference: Unlike pending free agents, who can’t be traded, non-guaranteed players can be traded, whether at the draft or in the offseason (prior to their guarantee date). The key is that players only count in trades for the amount of their guarantee."
It's alright. Google isn't what it once was, so there's no shame in asking. At this point, I wouldn't criticize people even if they didn't try a search first; get disappointed enough times and it's natural to not bother anymore...
" 2023-24 $15,800,000 guaranteed, fully guaranteed on 6/28/23
est. $25,400,000 guaranteed part of PHX-WAS trade within 2022-23 league year (pending)
2024-25 non-guaranteed, fully guaranteed on 6/28/24"
That's why I (and other people) keep calling it an expiring, even though it technically isn't. (It's actually better in some ways, because we can trade him next offseason if we want, bring him back, or dump the salary and just cut him with no penalty.)
From wiki: "With James Wiseman sitting out due to eligibility issues, Quiñones had his first double-double on November 16, 2019, recording 21 points and 10 rebounds in a 102–56 win over Alcorn State. As a result, he was named American Athletic Conference freshman of the week on November 18."
[Marc Stein] Sources tell The Stein Line that the Indiana Pacers, who are projected to have more than $30 million in salary cap space, are strongly weighing a three-year offer for Strus in the $48 million range.
The irony of Arsenal going for Lavia after already signing Rice, Havertz, and Timber vs the Nuggets possibly losing Brown because they aren't allowed to pay him more than 8 mil is somewhat lessened by the fact that Arsenal is possibly competing with 3 nation-states just in the top 4 (if the United deal goes through, and yes Arsenal is getting lot of money from Air Emirates). Also the fact that Nuggets weren't relegated in 2002.
105 mil for Declan Rice does not make any sense! I don't get the point about relegation in 2002. Why 2002, all the more so since Arsenal won the league that year?
Warriors announce their NBA summer league roster, which will be coached by Jacob Rubin
Along with Brandin Podziemski and Trayce Jackson-Davis, Lester Quiñones and Gui Santos will play. Quiñones has a lot of fans in the building, and the Warriors were happy with Santos’ progress
Quinones and Santos could both become sneakily useful rotation players over the next couple of years, if they can hold onto them. Quinones maybe even this year - he was stupidly good in the G League this year, wayyyy too much fun to watch. If I was still in Half Moon Bay I would've gone to see some of their games, would've been a ton of fun
If so, they're making the right choice, especially with only three more roster spots likely to be filled. Quinones and Santos can take two-ways, Ty can't.
Ty has a lot of fans in the Warriors org too, so there's a good chance they'll bring him back depending on how the rest of the roster shakes out. But they shouldn't lose Quinones

Been waiting for sf to do this for so long
Just in time for JK, Moody, Podz, and TJD to be known as the league wreckers 😜

Lol the sidebar of hoopsrumors.com is showing stories from 2021... definitely did a massive double-take at "Aaron Gordon reportedly requests trade"

Tiny and can't play D. Pass.
Could really use his ability to break the paint but don't want to take minutes from Moody's breakout season
Moody's a 3/4, won't overlap that much imo
I think of Moody as a wing, but he's pretty small for a 4. More a 2/3 type wing.
He was playing the 3/4 in the playoffs. His length and instincts around the basket make it work.
Were CP3 and Gordon close in Houston?
hey, if we're collecting enemies we might as well get the complete set
not sure of his contract situation in Boston, but it would be funny if Warriors get B. Griffin too..recreate lob city in the Warriors 2nd unit with CP3/Kuminga/GP2, although I don't think Griffin can dunk anymore like he used to.
Would you take Harden? XD
on a vet min, sure 😈
Hey Dillon Brooks is UFA. Maybe not on a vet min but if we're collecting enemies, he should be on the list.
There are some lines that must not be crossed. That is one of them.
I'm reasonably surprised they didn't tender Ty Jerome - not that it means they can't bring him back, but I think he'd be an ideal 3rd PG.
Dame wants to play with Dray? Curry-Dame-Klay-Wiggins-Dray, anyone? Is Kuminga + Moody + Cp3 + a pick or 2 better than Miami's offer? (joking, but man would that be entertaining - on the offensive end).
Wasn’t this in discussion a year or two ago? Feels like deja vu
Yep. A million reasons not do it.
But... to watch a quarter of Steph and Dame alternate bringing it up and launching from 40 feet? Over and over?
Priceless.
That can wait for the All Star game.
With Ol' Sky Phantom Klay they would be known as The Triplettes

Naji Marshall. Summer League extraordinaire
Can someone help me figure out what the difference is between a "non-guaranteed contract" and a team option?
A team option is essentially giving the team the option to extend a current contract at the beginning of a season. If that player is waived during the season they’re still owed the money on that contract.
A non-guaranteed contract is giving the team the option to waive that player during the season without needing to pay the rest of the contract, and that salary doesn’t impact the team’s salary. In the context of CP3 this means we can waive him after this season and not owe him any money or have it impact our payroll (thereby getting us potentially under the second apron).
hmmm... I don't think that's the case, you're saying if we play CP3 for half the season we could waive him and only pay him $15mil?
No because his contract for this year has to be fully guaranteed by today.
totes, I was trying to make sure I understood what they were saying.
"A thing that is important to note with non-guaranteed contracts: Unlike options, if a team doesn’t want the player, they must waive them. thank you!! I swear I did try to google this

people are saying CP3's last year is "non-guaranteed"
" 2023-24 $15,800,000 guaranteed, fully guaranteed on 6/28/23
est. $25,400,000 guaranteed part of PHX-WAS trade within 2022-23 league year (pending)

Congrats Quinones!
Quinones becoming a more valuable member of the 2023 Warriors than Wiseman was not something I envisioned in 2020.
His 2nd year at Memphis, he did average over 5 rebounds/game (1st and 3rd years - around 3.5, so maybe not Podz-like. That wingspan, though.)
[Marc Stein] Sources tell The Stein Line that the Indiana Pacers, who are projected to have more than $30 million in salary cap space, are strongly weighing a three-year offer for Strus in the $48 million range.

Who is Jacob Rubin? Never heard of him. Also, will this be for both Sacto and LV. games?
Looks like the Justinian Jessup era has ended
Before it started
Nick Kerr and Mychel Thompson (I assume Jr.) on the coaching staff. Lotta family members getting work in Warriors world these days.
It's almost like the NBA is a tiny, insular community or something.
Goals for TJD. Take some 3s my man and show us you can stretch the floor more than Ben Simmons!
Do what you have been doing ... to earn All American last year and All Big Ten (or is now 12?) the past two years.
Learn that it’s ok to use your right hand once in a while to touch basketball.
I'd settle for him getting to like mid-70s on his free throw percentage.
I'd settle for him actually putting some dunks in the basket and not passing out in fear of getting fouled
Oooof, TJD has a lot of promising talents but a jumper is not one of them
Rumor is that Quiñones is one of the reasons that we were comfortable trading Rollins.
I still love Rollins, but Quinones was impressive.
This is what I'm hoping is true ... he's got ginormous wingspan for a guard (6'10") ... I'm intrigued by that.
I'm kind of wondering if this is also why Ty was not tendered an offer.
Gui, LQ and Jayce Johnson are on it. I'm happy.
Particularly interested in the LQ experience.
