Daniel is on for post-game tonight, so keep your eyes peeled

we're 5-5 in our last ten games.

during that time, the 3-9 seeds in the west were all 6-4 or 5-5.

Bad Klay and bad CP3 too much to recover from, but I like seeing the young guys trying, learning, and building their reps. Hopefully enough to show future growth. I.e. wins.

I’m a little surprised how much I’ve taken to CP3. Yea his slow walk up with the ball seems anti-Dubsian, but generally his offense and passing has been entertaining (even if not tonight). So, yes ya little nut-puncher, I accept you as a Warrior for this one season.

But imagine if somehow Kyrie ended up as a Warrior for a season or two. Makes me vomit in my mouth more than a little, but would we (I) accept him? Root for him? So hard to see this and think I’d take to him. Too much reptile brain in there.

What is Demar Derozan's % for shots in crunch time because if you tell me it's anything less than 100% you're lying lol

Expand full comment

If you don't count bricks where he grifts for whistles as FGA: probably like 60%.

If (for entertainment purposes only) you do count them as FGA, probably more like 25%, lol

JK shooting 88.2% from the stripe (30-34) and 40% from 3 (6-15) this month.

Expand full comment

Most importantly his form looks sustainable too. I fully expect JK to be at least an 80% FT shooter

Funny what one 2 for 2 night can do for his 3P%.

To move on past all my sour thoughts about tonights game, a conversation with my 4 year old as we watched the game over dinner:

Kid: Who's that guy with the headband and the funny hair?

Me: (trying to find players with headbands on the court) You mean Moody?

Kid: No, the funny hair guy!

Me: Oh, you mean Podziemski.

Kid: PODZIEMSKI!!!!

Anyway, she's moved on from her love of Jordan Poole.

>Anyway, she's moved on from her love of Jordan Poole.

Me too

Even on sort of a meh night for him, Podz put up 11 pts, 5 reb, 6 ast, 4 stl, with some solid D on Luka.

Expand full comment

One of these days we're gonna realize Steph-Moods-Wiggs-JK-Dray is our best starting lineup and TAKE OFF!!!

Expand full comment

We've been trying to get to that with PODZ instead of Moody...it is situational, but, I prefer KLAY in that role....

Expand full comment

I'm more interested in Steph-Moody-Wiggs-Dray-TJD

Expand full comment

You want to bench JK?

Expand full comment

You're gonna have to fight Asher first.

Expand full comment

I mean, if you think JK belongs on the bench, you've got bigger problems than me

God damn, Gafford shot 73% on the season last year. That's entering DeAndre Jordan's level of efficiency in the paint

Expand full comment

So used to us "turning it on" in the peak years towards the end of the season that I forget being in the lower tier of the conference means your season is usually a roller coaster lol

Expand full comment

This is what happened to the Sharks. They refused to get off the old guys until it was too late.

Expand full comment

Although being the 10th seed and knocking out either Phoenix, LAL , Sac or DAL would be the funniest thing ever

Expand full comment

It just delays the inevitable.

Expand full comment

Sure knocking out PHX, LAL, Sac, or DAL delays the inevitable. Then again, maybe the top three teams in each conference have a serious shot at the Finals, and the rest are all inevitably going to lose. So what? We know we're not a Finals team this year. If we get through the play-in, it beats not getting there of course, but if we can upset a first-round opponent, then lose a competitive second round, I'd be happy.

Let's say it is a 50-50 chance we get out of the PlayIn and then lose. Will it incentivize the FO to pull off some major changes? If it does, it behooves us to lose quickly and not give any false hope for greater glory. Spin is a dangerous habit especially for fans. But if the FO buys the spin, pain will linger that much longer.

Expand full comment

Beating OKC in round 1? ;-P

Expand full comment

Warriors did what they could, but their offense just wasn't good enough to beat the Mavs.

Expand full comment

They could have won if Saric hadn't played. I bet his +/- was very close to the final margin. The guy seems to be a half a beat late on everything. Can't seem to make a decisive move. Even a stretch big is useless if he's unwilling to get physical in the post. If he's just going to hang out at the arc, they might as well play a wing in his place..

Expand full comment

I fully support giving any and all of the Saric minutes for the rest of the season to TJD and Santos.

*Klay and CP3 were not good enough

JK and Wiggs did their part.

I didn't mind this loss too much, cos we fought hard, and all the kids (JK, Moods, TJD, Podz) were mostly great.

Expand full comment

Better to focus on the lottery.

Expand full comment

Unfortunately, I never win.

Expand full comment

?

We're not gonna be in the lottery. And we don't have our pick, anyway.

Expand full comment

If we lose in play in aren't we in the lottery then?

But yeah a very small chance we are top 3.

Mar 14·edited Mar 14

Ah, yeah, good point. But as you say, the chances of jumping from #13-14 into the top 4 are extremely slim.

And I'd rather the pick convey this season anyway, as it's unprotected next season (in a reputedly much better draft) if it doesn't.

Expand full comment

Didn't realize that. That sucks. Lacob has screwed this team.

Expand full comment
Mar 14·edited Mar 14

lol. Do you even know who the pick was traded for?

(edit, damn, you didn't, but kinbote just educated you).

Also: it was Myers, not Lacob.

Expand full comment

Would you rather have the 2024 pick or Wiggins and Kuminga? Because that was the pick they traded to dump Andre's salary to get DLo in order to rip off Minnesota.

Expand full comment

OK, I concede this one.

Expand full comment

2025 lottery? Portland has our pick this year.

Expand full comment

As I recall, we don't have our first round pick this year.

5 points in the first 6 minutes of the 2nd quarter; 2 points in the first (5?) minutes of the 4th. We seem to have these droughts.

Also, pretty good shot-blocking by the Mavericks two big guys. TJD played pretty well even so....

Expand full comment

This is not meant as an indictment of the awesomeness of Klay Thompson's career, the debt we Warriors fans owe to him for his contributions to the dynasty, or the courage it took to come back from multiple devastating injuries ... but I no longer enjoy watching him play basketball. Every time I see him get the ball, I assume, well, that's it for that possession. Some sort of off-balance hero ball is going up and probably not in.

Expand full comment

i'd take a wide open, feet set, klay 3 over just about any other offensive option.

but he doesn't get many of those, less with curry gone. it means the defense is guarding him tho, they don't give him warmup threes like draymond/gp2/moody/kuminga/podz seem to get every game. you need someone on the floor the defense is worried about guarding. agreed the off-balance hero ball must stop, if there's no shot he needs to pass.

Expand full comment

Meh, he was our only hope for tonight and he knew it...without Dray and Steph, he sucks whenever Paul is handling the ball/starting...

Expand full comment

I agree that Klay has internalized the idea that he is our only hope - and I think that's a big part of the problem. He doesn't feel connected to the rest of the team at all right now.

Mar 14·edited Mar 14

With good reason, they are not playing Warriors Ball with Steph and Dray out....Dallas had 30 assists...

Expand full comment

Exactly the same for me. Not his fault I guess because what else he has then his shot? I would like to see him play less and on a very short leash.

Expand full comment

Gonna be some big changes to this team in the off season. If not, we are going to sour more and more on the Dubs. A Curry-centric team cannot rise in the West without great support. Too small Paul, Klay, and Wiggs, all gone along with Saric and Looney.

Expand full comment

I'm fine with them mostly standing pat in the offseason. If they can re-sign Klay and CP3 cheaply as 15-20 mpg bench guys, great, but I won't freak if they walk, either.

Expand full comment

I don’t even know if I want Klay next season. And I pass on CP3: he is too old.

Expand full comment

I'll freak if KLAY walks, CP3 1/2 court game is a bad fit for Warriors ball...

Expand full comment

standing pat is suicide. Signing guys cheaply is not going to help us win. We need fresh blood............Vets that matter.

Mar 14·edited Mar 14

Disagree. There are plenty of scenarios where the natural development of JK, Moody, Podz, TJD, and Santos is a much better outcome than any "big changes."

Lots of fans were clamoring to trade Steph and Klay their first few seasons (for guys like Deron Williams, Dwight Howard, Kevin Love, etc. etc.), too.

Expand full comment

Doesn't it depend on what changes? Possibility in development doesn't solve their problem of age and size.

Expand full comment

Alright y'all. If Draymond and Steph does indeed return in LA I need to see a statement made if we're actually serious about making the playoffs.

Expand full comment

paths to playoffs:

finish ~15-2 for the 6th seed.

finish ~13-4 & win one play-in game

finish ~7-10 & win two play-in games

if there's gonna be a statement win, i'd love to save it for a play-in game!

Expand full comment

?

Down your two best players to the #1 offense in the league, and you're bothered by the result?

I saw no lack of trying, just couldn't pull it off without Dray and Steph.

We don't need a statement game. Get to the play-in healthy, and we'll see what happens.

Expand full comment

Lol I wasn't talking about tonight's game at all

Expand full comment

What, then?

Expand full comment

That the team needs to win in LA with those two back ???

Expand full comment

Ah, OK. Your phrasing made me think there was something else at play.

We're probably going to be in the play-in either way. I hope we win, but I'm not going to think it's that huge a deal if we don't get it.

Expand full comment

I mean, they're well on their way to making the 10th seed and Play-in. They are far far away from the 6th seed and an automatic playoff bid, so they will be in the play-in. I'm not sure what statement they can make that will show they are "serious" about the play-in.

Expand full comment

By not coming out and dropping a Chicago type of egg

Expand full comment

At least Klay picked a good game to shoot the Dubs out of it. Steph and Dray out, might as well get some shots out

Expand full comment

TBF to Klay - there was almost no offensive creation happening on the court at all at times. I think there were more 24 second violations this game than I've seen all last month.

Expand full comment

BINGO...then he gets anxious and shoots at every opportunity....not a single set-up/assist for KLAY FROM PAUL, the 1st half....
