Two big shooters.
Even though it makes sense for the team, still sad to part with Paschall, and "top-42 protected" is pretty weak.
But yeah, feels like we're pretty thin at the guard spot, especially guys who can handle and create shots. GPII and Mannion both feel like close but not quite rotation guys there. Would be nice to have a third guy besides Poole and Steph who can break the paint in half-court sets.
Saben Lee returns to the Pistons.
2026 2nd round pick top-42 protected? Can you imagine the mess, since the league teams won’t be 30 anymore? Btw… bye bye Paschanimal, love.
Warriors Roster as of now:
G: Curry, Poole, Payton II, Mannion (RFA - QO)
G: Thompson, Lee, Mulder, McLaughlin (E10)
F: Wiggins, Moody, Kuminga
F: Green, Porter Jr., Toscano-Anderson
C: Looney, Wiseman, Bjelica
Looks like we're not part of this human centipede
Dinwiddie S/T up to five teams. Mayo-bomb!
With some thought. I'll pass on Baynes. Give me Birch or Chriss back.
Warriors are not crossing that 200 million dollar repeater tax threshold. At this point realistically I can see them using a portion of the mle on Andre and the other portion on Aaron baynes with hopefully an exception onOubre and call it a day and I would consider that a very successful offseason
Simmons to GSW rumors picking back up again...Wiggins+Looney and 2 future 1st for Simmons? We re-sign Oubre and bring Baynes on board to call it an offseason
Musings..... what if the Wizards didn't want one of KCP or Harrell and Beal would rather have his buddy Oubre. Or... what if the Pacers / Carlisle want Oubre and would be willing to deal Turner for him. [They just lost McBuckets to the Spurs in FA.]
Go back two years and the Warriors had to basically rebuild an entire rotation around the core. They spent a lot of minutes the last couple seasons trying to find guys that could be very cheap, solid rotation guys or better. I think successfully, they've got Lee, JTA and Poole (who can be better).
But the labwork is over. I think one of the conversations that probably was had with Steph, Klay, Dray is we are going to keep our lottery guys unless it's the right deal. But otherwise there's no scholarships left for guys who don't know their role on a winning team yet. They need the roster filled with proven vets or those truly high upside guys.
You can sell them that Kuminga could be the next Kawhi, and that's great for them either in a couple years or as a nearer term trade asset. You can't sell them that Smiley is the next Bjelica. Just go get Bjelica.
Paschall is better than Smiley by a long shot, but I'm just not at all surprised. Utah is actually a nice place for him to go develop, but it was a tough fit for him here.
So now we're down to one of our 3 picks from 2 years ago. Honestly didn't think Poole would be the one still standing after his first season.
Woah, Aldridge considering a return after a recent medical consultation
Maybe we did do it for the money..
Good description on how rigorous the repeater tax is:
