If the Pelicans want to be a future dynasty, they should do what the last future dynasty did when going down 0-1 on the road after losing a heartbreaker close game:

I don’t think so, but I think Anne Rice does. Along with America Ferrara, and, um, Eric Apricot?

Reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Lisa is sent to the school for smart kids, one of whom nerdily notes that “Genuine Class” is an anagram for Alec Guinness, and puts her on the spot to come up with one. She nervously says, “ummm … Jeremy Irons is an anagram for … Jeremy’s Iron?”

Which reminds me that my friend and I used to call erstwhile Warrior prospect Chris Taft “Fat Christ.”

OT, from the man formerly known as kinbote: If you want to read a lot about chess (and whatever other random stuff floats through my brain) this offseason, I finally got around to doing some writing on my substack blog. It's not quite at E1P level, but hopefully interesting if you're into that sort of thing.

I like Anya Taylor-Joy — does that count? (Actually liked her more in The Menu, Last Night in SoHo, and the Witch than the Queen’s Gambit, tho…)

Wow. One game played across all series, and the home team and favored seed won every game.

OKC crowd showed up big time though. Miss the days when we had a crowd like that

I like OKC. I don't love them, but I do like them. Also that was a fun game. I like the close ones

I’m amazed at how composed they are being so young.

Actually they looked more jittery in this game than in the regular season. Which is not surprising.

Coulda used one of those missed Chet FT back in December…

Yeah where was that choke when we needed it?

Expand full comment

That was a goaltend by Chet, no? That ball was in the air for pretty long before it got blocked

In live action it looked like not, in replay it did. Not sure. Nance gets up there pretty high..

It didn’t look like it was.

Prob… but don’t bother looking for it in the L2M…

There were so many plays in the closing minutes that wasn't taken advantage of by the Pels lol. Draymond would have gotten his teammates easy ass dunks

That block by Holmgren may have just turned the game for OKC.

OKC getting so many 50/50 calls, imo… some rough “moving” screens (pretty sure Williams hooked Jones on one of them), the Holmgren block that might have been a goaltend…
