I only saw the end of the game. As Team BP was hanging on, a shot away from losing, BP runs ahead down court and sets an early off-ball screen for Wemby, BP tossing the old “take my screen” thumb out. Wemby just looks at him like wtf is that about, and the other guy with the ball doesn’t look at them and drives 1 v 2 and scores. I’m glad BP got drafted by a team which rewards hustle teamwork.
I remember Draymond looking pretty lost in past All-Star games. His style of play just isn't compatible with the showmanship and lack of competitiveness in these games, just as Podz' wasn't in the Rising Stars game
Podz was clearly steamed in the post game interview that the other guys just wanted to do some highlight moves and didn't really care about winning the game. I thought Wemby did a couple of amazing things, but was mostly half-assing it, including casually going for rebounds so that he didn't get it himself, but also getting in the way of teammates who probably would have snagged the rebound.
I'm glad to see Podz' competitive spirit, even in basically an exhibition game.
Great illustration of Podz's dilemma. He's a good basketball player but looks way better with better players. In situations where everyone is going one-on-one, he's not going to shine like he does when smart guys are playing as a team.
Given that he's made enough of a name for himself and all of the teams are aware of him, do you think it's possible that he's just not good enough to be a regular NBA player?
He's great in exhibitions like dunk contest and the Rising Stars (although at age 25, he's hardly a "riser" and by far the oldest guy on the floor), but he still has questionable handles and is a defensive liability. Don't think his offensive explosions are enough to overcome these weaknesses. My 2c anyway.
Questionable handles? He can penetrate off-the-dribble against entire defenses, hardly ever turns the ball over, and, is an assist-waiting-to-happen if he doesn't finish at the rim! Are we talking about the same player? He is also a very disruptive defender, in spite of his size....Age-wise, his best years are ahead of him....
I don't see why he can't fill the role of sixth man/scorer off the bench. Many of the best who did that couldn't defend a traffic cone...I'm talking about you, Jamal Crawford.
He along with JJJ and Wallace looked like they wanted to win. Wemby and Miller were disappointments; Miller didn't score any points, and Wemby had all 5 of the team's turnovers.
I think he initially wanted to do point guard things as well as hustle and defend, which no one else seemed to have very much interest in. This wasn't the showcase for actual "good" team basketball, which begs the question why even bother with a player like him for a your turn my turn game.
Nothing he does fits very well or is useful with whatever that gack was.
Team Pau fucked around at the beginning thinking it was sweet, but the 40 point target score really doesn't give you enough time to get serious and recover if the other team jumps on you
Haha Yeah, don't worry, I'm not! It's just that "everyone" is there to see him because of the hype, so I had some expectation that he was gonna show out in a bigger way 😅 Like Mathurin, he showed out for his home crowd, it was great!
Let's Go Santa Cruz Warriors!! Javan and Kendric kill it for Ballislife in the first semi! Congratulations on the game winner Kendric!

By the way the play I’m talking about is at 6:37 of https://youtu.be/mjxktKDXvkU?si=8g3pH-mYQalbA_ta
That’s hilarious. I wish I had watched just to see that

LITTLE MAC! and, BACK for the dunk CONTEST tomorrow! Dude hasn't lost a step; still got game. Sad no NBA team has given him a real contract yet....

Must be a league-wide conspiracy to keep him off of the roster of all 30 NBA teams then. /s
I am not one who believes in conspiracies; just, sugar happens sometimes to good people...

Free money alert…. Steph -250 tomorrow night
Team Jalen needs 5 more points to win.
Team Jalen wins.
Jordan Hawkins would have been such a nice fit on the Dubs. Great motion, shooting, court sense.
ya but I'll take Podz
Mathurin is quite a showman. He's going to be fun to watch in the years to come.
Didn't watch... how did Podz look in comparison to everyone?

Good night everyone. Until steph kicks Sabrina's butt. One of the few times I'll feal OK about saying a guy kicks a girls butt 😂
Team Detlef had 11 off. rebounds to Team Pau's 4.
Disappointing.

Yeah Wemby handling at the top didn't look so good.
Good for the G leaguers. Podz acquitted himself well.
Brandon Miller is the only player who hasn't scored a single point tonight
All these guys are reverting to their Summer League forms lol
Wemby isn't trying at all. He should get so many of these rebounds
There's no fucking way that McClung shoots threes while jumping that high, does he?
Wemby's hustle energy is kinda weak
I wouldn't judge him based on this game. He isn't giving it his all

Clashes with Podz diving on the floor for a loose ball
Podz and Wallace seemed to care about winning as much as Wemby didn't care at all about winning and just wanted to look cool lol
I see this.
Mhmm
