There's a whole lot of confusing stuff going on there...
Where's JP going? It looks like he passes the big Williams off onto JMG, and then scram switch onto "whoever's open" on the weakside... except there wasn't anybody actually open on the weak side, he needed to just switch onto the guy JMG used to be guarding who was at the top of the key. I guess it's part of the Warriors defensive ethos to let Dray rove around and overload the strong side, but that requires everybody on the back side rotates and switches and helps in great unison. I am not convinced Steph actually needed that help, and Dray kinda just took himself out of the play.
Yeah. In an ideal world JP is screaming to JMG to take Williams while he stays up top and covers 13 on the perimeter. It would have eliminated a lot of unnecessary movement but he decides to go under and caused unnecessary confusion. JMG got put in no mans land there and it's hard to get mad at him for giving up that dunk. Feels like DDV had the look of "WTF was that?"
It's just hard to string together enough stops when you have this kind of mental lapse while trying to make a run. It's not just JP too. Guys are taking turns stinking it up. They aren't playing TOGETHER as a 5 man unit and it shows.
The problem being Jekyll seems a nice, respectable fellow on the surface but corrupt beneath that. Hyde is overtly a beast, and we could use some beasting.
I hope JP works on his catch and shoot 3s this offseason because it's kind of a killer when our guys gives him a good look but instead of shooting he dribbles into a tougher shot.
Reminder the refs were super fucking horrible last night and okc hit a bunch of dumb 3s and had many shots bounce around the rim before falling.
I do think Kerr's rotations were god awful last night but I'll give him some games to figure it out, last two games we came back with no jmg in the second half, idk why he got so much run last night but it's whatever.
I don't think there's that much disconnect, I would of liked to hear kerr say since we've had to switch rotations once again, the team was kind of disconnected, last night really wasn't all that bad
Well, guess that confirms Curry is the problem. Do you think we can get more than 5 second round picks for him? LMAO
Ever been in an accident and everything goes into slow motion. This season feels a little like that. You are swerving all over the road and you think there is still a chance you won't run into the median, you get Wiggins, Andre & GP2 all on the floor to start the playoffs and then it all just ends with one resounding thud.
I think it was Rocky 2 when Rocky had to switch boxing sides and lead with his strong hand because his eye was jacked up from the first match. I think that's what the Dubs should have done this year. Just come out and play some half-court Popovich game, involve the youth as much as possible, confuse the hell out of the League and then in the first round of the playoffs, switch back to what they do best. It would have even been better if instead of Fitz and Bukie during the playoffs games, they would just play that Rocky song over and over. Oh well, I will be a happy fan this year so long as we don't lose to Memphis. Hell, I could even stomach a loss to Paul and Booker just for the Durant "You know who I am" show.
If JK went 6, would the Warriors have taken Giddy? I would think so.
Listened to the OKC announcers and they were amazed at their team hitting all those threes. Yep. Huge. Must say I like that team. Giddey and ShaeGA are one helluva guard combo, Williams and Dort looked like tremendous complementary pieces and Dario Saric looked like a guy auditioning--and passing--for a job with the Warriors next season. OKC would be an easy team to root for if the Warriors fall short.
Wow - the morning Roast with Bonte and Shasky sounds really down - never seen Bonte so down on the warriors. The vibe of this team is definitely way off since this road trip started.
The dubs were humming with the young guys and Klay leading the charge - although at home. Klay has gone back to his low key self after Steph and Andre have come in with the changed rotations. And the others seem to be back to oh-its-ok-steph-is-back approach and either dont care enough or are just plain sulking - or maybe its the reduced playing times and/or rotations for some of them! At this stage of the season with so many rotations, playing in different rotations should NOT have such significant impacts, but for the dubs it seems a huge weakness.
Andre is not helping at all and that makes the guys he is displacing likely to be even more disillusioned at their reduced playing times. Maybe more games will fix it, but does anybody see enough coming from Andre to turn this season around now
What is up with Draymond? This guy might be the cause of all the lost vibes of this team. He has significant responsibility to fix the issue but has not been able to do so!
JP doesn't seem vested-in when he comes off the bench - that does make one question his upcoming contract!
No evidence that this team can turn any corners, but rather they seem to be chasing their own tail of mediocrity going around in circles because they just cant defend consistently!
And Steve Kerr constantly undermines his coaching approach: He has absolutely no patience for mistakes by JK and Moody - but Poole can do anything he wants??
And another edit: Howard Beck on the morning roast was pretty good and still maintains a positive outlook for the team - provided Wiggins can come back and play at his All star level - well Sigh...

Way OT: I had two short dreams last night that included Andre, neither about basketball.
In the first one, I was doing a minor behavior-response test with one of my dogs, and Dre was the evaluator. At the end, I asked Dre if she passed the test. Dre turned and mouthed “No” but not clearly, so I asked him to tell me clearly, and he just said, “No.” He was cool, very Dre-like!
In the second dream, Dre had invested in a company that made small consumer Bluetooth speakers. As y’all know, I’m in the audio industry. Dre showed me the new speakers, and they didn’t look that good and didn’t sound good. I had to tell him. He again was cool about it. Dre’s always cool, even in dreams!
These last two were tough and it's looking precarious but we were a Wiggs away from both of those wins and a 7-0 run. When we get whole we'll start winning, it's just gotta happen soon.
After the all star break JP has been shooting 33% from the field and 25% from 3. And he wasn’t lighting it up all that much before the break. The only thing keeping his efficiency from totally cratering is free throws
Bless JP. He needs to knock down his three point attempts per game (8 attempts on 32% shooting) and the type of threes he is taking. Steve said as much last week, when he talked about not liking those tough attempts from JP, because he is not efficient. Has to lean into his strengths.
One hypothesis on Poole's dismal shooting: He got all hot about developing a great side-step 3, and got himself all off balance. His side step 3s just have soooo much side step to them.
Very Much Agree. Poole is in danger of developing a terminal case of “Trae Young delusion syndrome” in which otherwise very talented players convince themselves that what Curry does in God-mode is probably “not really that hard – I mean, I’ve hit shots like that in my driveway, how much more difficult could it really be with three of the best defenders in the world hanging off me all game.”
Poole is not getting his feet set with intention like he did last year, even on the catch and shoots, and even when he's hitting. He's leaning - generally left and often falling back (which he's always tended toward). What I'm seeing most is he's landing a lot with his feet together, and sometimes twisting, (both of which mean he's off-balance), where if you look at his tapes from last year he's consistently scissoring and landing on both feet with his right foot correctly forward for balance. It's as if he quit trying to emulate Klay's shot, or even Curry's standard form, and is trying to emulate Curry's ability (which Curry doesn't go to as much as you might think) to square his upper body regardless of where his feet are, which no one can really do except Curry. The upside is that mechanically, this is all fixable and Poole from last year could still be there. The downside is we don’t know what’s in his head.
Thunder made their shots, our non-Steph shooters missed a ton. We gave them a million FTs in the third quarter, and couldn’t stop ball. POA defense sucked in isolation and P&R. I’ve seen this show a lot this year…
I'm not surprised the Dubs have lost the last two on the road, they were able to come back from deficits at home, but you can't play like that on the road and assume the results will be the same.
Dubs have to learn to keep their composure during the ups and downs of the game. It's not going to be perfect, but you keep playing. It was disappointing to see that play from Dray in a one point game before half. Yes, JP didn't pass him the ball, yet the team still had possession and him walking off the court put his team at a disadvantage on both ends. All he had to do was remain in the play, Dubs had time to go to something else, then point it out to JP during a timeout. Your the vet. Just like when there was a mix up w/ JK and Steph on defense..they talked it out on the way to the bench.
Gotta find a way to defend on the road, even if that means chopping some minutes for lack of individual effort. Counter teams not defending the front court. Bounce back against Memphis and get back to winning. It has been wacky NBA season, so anything is just about possible the rest of the way.

Where is JP going? He just casually dumps off his man and didn't communicate the switch strongly enough.

Defensive Rating of 137.......GONG, GONG, GONG, you are out.....
Home defensive rating: 108 1st in NBA
Road Defensive Rating: 119 2nd to last in NBA
Good thing we probably won’t have HCA for the playoffs
Serious Jekyll and Hyde shit goin on.

Bonta was pretty negative after LAL loss after ASB. He was borderline raging. It's all for radio version of click baits . That's why I like Damon+Ray.
Damon+Ray today - is that show over - still being called Damon and Ratto!
Update on 03/09 - Looks like Damon and Ratto are no longer on at 957 the game :-(
Whatever Wiggins' situation, after this break he'll have a ver and time getting back to All Star Wiggs imo.

But was he wearing a color coordinated sweater, or a uniform, or a leg brace?
No, he dressed business casual but fashionable, hard to recall details but not a sweater, definitely not a uniform.
Priceless! That's why I love DNHQers
I stopped reading after the first sentence, but I am confident this is TMI

Very tough. Team appears right now not to have the moxy in it to dig down and play defense on the road. Quite disheartening.
Anybody hear any word on JP's knee?
After the all star break JP has been shooting 33% from the field and 25% from 3. And he wasn’t lighting it up all that much before the break. The only thing keeping his efficiency from totally cratering is free throws
Is this a JP just isn’t that good thread, or a JP apologist thread?

He’s somehow shooting a lower percentage on catch and shoot 3s than Dray.
There's something going on there... it's just... not right.
Is that a Wire reference?
No, never seen it
Hah, was thinking of the band -- their song "Strange" lol
