Wiseman looked a lot more serious about rebounding than I remember him ever being. He was putting a body on people and working for position. That was my happiest takeaway.

Could any of the W's bench see any court time for the Clips? That's where we are.

Better defense will pick the ball out of his hands when he spins with it held out at waist level.

Random reactions:

1. “Mediocre offense struggles against strong defense! Film at 11.”

2. That said, I feel like a *lot* of make-able shots just didn’t go down. A few of those drop and...we still lose handily but with a very different feel.

3. Before we tar and feather Bob, let’s remind ourselves how much better “roster construction” would be looking with Klay (and Marquese) playing every night.

4. JP and Nico are more watchable than Wanamaker even when they’re terrible. I think it’s the feeling that anything could happen vs one more hopeless drive into traffic.

I see flashes like that of Wiseman about once a game. When he can string a few of those together with different moves he will be beastly for sure.

The game went off with that second quarter experiment of mannion-poole backourt.

We are not making the playoff with that backourt...they will get torched most of nights. Add wiseman to that and you have 3 guys that have no idea how to play defense.

thats fine this year, but if you want a championship next one you cant play all this rookies. get a real bench. Look at the clippers, not one rookie. Morris-patterson-williams-jackson.

And wiggins reamins the same...pasive as hell...if the right trade is there ..

Maybe I'll eat my words, but Kerr had to have known that Wiggins drop in play was not him being tired. That didn't even make any sense. It was only 30 games into the season. No one's getting tired that fast. I saw all those wolves fans saying "just wait for it" when Wiggins was having the hot start to the season. Looks like they were right.

This loss is about 50% on the unit that started the 2nd quarter and the rest on the unit that started the 3rd. Which basically amounts to, the entire team.

Steph shot it badly; admittedly, he got few good looks and had to work pretty hard to score on drives too. Draymond made more assists to the guys on Balmer's payroll than Lacob's. Poole, Mannion, JTA, Paschall, and Bazemore could not figure out how to defend the Clippers without fouling, and they also couldn't get past the Clippers' generally disciplined defense.

The box score stats from this game are deceptive; Poole and Mannion looked absolutely incapable against the Clippers' second unit, on both ends of the floor. They made up for it in garbage time against the third stringers, but I'm not convinced that it was them finding a rhythm so much as the level of competition was so much lower.

Paschall looked ok alongside the starters, but could not hold his own in the second unit.

Oubre and Wiggins had decent games, but not good enough to make up for the rest of the team playing like hot garbage.

I thought we played pretty good defense, except that aforementioned Sea Dubs group. I do kind of think Wanamaker + one of Mannion/Poole might give us better results than the latter two together, but given their respective ages and contacts, plus the experience playing together in the G-league, I can see why the team would rather try the pair they did.

We have to assume the team can play better than this, especially the starters, but I'm not optimistic about our chances vs. the juggernaut that is Utah. Thankfully we still have a lot of games against bad teams remaining later in the schedule...

2:58 Q4 JW hits a long range 2, Reggie says “wow” and the footage cuts to Steph giggling on the bench. I think we alright.

Am I the only one shocked our conservative coaching staff seems to have gone full rookie in the second unit? Assuming they play Wiseman out there when he gets a practice, that's Nico + Poole + Wiseman + Paschall? All the rookies and second years plus one vet? I kind of thought they'd try one of Nico/Poole maybe paired with Wiseman to see if they could run some PNRs with him.

They're going to get absolutely killed by the Jazz and Lakers while they try to figure out team defense and team rebounding on the fly. How could they not? The question will be how they do against teams that aren't defensive monsters and best in the league overall. But... it's such a big change mid-season, I'm amazed that Kerr's staff would go for such a high risk/high reward lineup?

It's going to be exciting to watch.

I think it's pretty simple at this point, we have a top ten defense and bottom ten offense. There's no way our offense should be this bad with steph curry playing 30+ minutes a night.

Kerr needs to do a better job at utilizing his players. EP should not be struggling the way he his with his offensive talent. Kerr inserting him with the starters in the first quarter was a step in the right direction, he can be a deadly short roll man or cutter option for green.

Our offensive system is simply not working against better defensive teams. If curry is not knocking his threes down, kerr has to run more curry green pick n rolls to get curry downhill and to the basket. Atleast do this to get him into a ryhthym.

Our second unit needs to be pick and roll heavy with poole, EP and wiseman, or looking to hunt mismatches. They do not have the talent or IQ to run our system properly.

Imagine how much better our defense would be if we made more shots and made the opposing team set up in a half court offense.

Seeing a lot of online discussion about the Wiseman benching being a mistake but I don't think we have enough insight into who Wiseman is to say that it was. It has seemed like Wiseman hasn't been playing with that much joy since his injury so maybe people are assuming this will only put him in a worse place mentally...but on the other hand he's going to have to respond to a lot more adversity than that if he's going to succeed the way he expects to in the NBA. Maybe this doesn't get him more in his head, it gets him angry?

Also, looks like Kerr will be going with Mannion/Poole/Oubre/Paschall/Wiseman in the second unit? I don't think the Warriors can slip below the 10 seed unless Curry gets injured, but that unit feels like waving the white flag on trying to get the 6 seed. Is Curry really okay with this plan? A lot of Warrior fans seem to think Curry/Draymond can't win a round in the playoffs with the right seed or that winning a round is meaningless, does Curry agree?

As I wrote in another thread, this was a massive failure of execution, primarily by the starters. The bench didn't help at all until they inserted Wiseman in the 4th. A bit late to resuscitate a dying team.

I was the first person to say 'use Wiseman as a scorer'. This is basically his only weapon at this point. Garbage time is a good way to get him going but there is going to be real anguish on Kerr's part to fit him into either the starting lineup or off the bench the way Kerr manages his system. He has a great system but it only works for scorers. Of course, defensively, they already have the energy and pace to get the job done, but the whole package is not being put together efficiently. Kerr's fault or the players? It's a good debate, but I don't see his system working with this group. Everything going through Curry is a bit far fetched. He is also human. He takes far too many shots but he makes an awful lot of them. Green showed some scoring ability but his passing and rebounding were not very good. No paint game, no size on the starters. Looney is not the answer there. He's serviceable but you can say that about so many Warrior players and yet they are mediocre. Wiseman was the wild card in their plan. Kerr's system doesn't use him enough. Either Kerr adapts it for Wiseman, or move him and get someone who fits better.

Anthony Edwards looks to be my leader in ROY. The Twolves made him a starter and he's taken off like a rocket. This is all without DLO. He has a complete game. Next draft, if we are picking high, we need to get a player who has a complete game to offer. Is Cunningham really that player? I'd be interested to hear opinions of the top picks as I don't watch the college games.

A song of Ice and Fire.

Leonard was on fire 🔥 all night. The real game ended when the Warriors left him open in the corner as a sign of surrender.

Curry was Ice 🧊 and he never got going, but they were still in it after a quarter. Curry even had blinders on with his passing tonight.

What the heck was Draymond doing on offense today?

Oubre was good on offense but wandered a bit on D.

Wiggins was my favorite starter on both ends of the court, looks like the rest did him well.

What would the second unit have looked like if Wiseman started?

Wiseman looked aggressive on rebounding and offense. Maybe they just need to piss him off more. He still didn’t even put a hand up to contest some shots right in front of him both inside and on the 3 point line; that wasn’t his instinct at the start of the year, may be an over correction?

Poole was back to being terrible. Mannion struggled initially but in a way that gives hope. Maybe a little more Bazemore, Looney, and Lee on that second unit to stabilize the youngsters?

At this point we're going to need something more from Wiggins offensively and Kerr can't be cool with him "scoring 15 a night and play defense". He's been playing excellent defense yes but offensively I feel like once he gets his 10-12 shots he's checked out of the offense and becomes super passive. Got to push him to be better there. The bench on the other hand is in the middle of a makeover so I expect some bumpy play. It'll pay off next year.
