Just thinking with all our roster manip theories/ideas trying to find solutions etc
The heat were and even other teams have found undrafted guys like Gabe Vincent or max strus - i know it's the exception but how about we find a shooter/scorer somewhere like that!!
One of our main issues w our roster construction is that outside of Steph were shooting below standard for some reason. But because of our salary issues we don't have much flexibility
The Dubs have had plenty of undrafted guys who've turned up big for them. In the 'chip year, there was GP2, Damian Lee and JTA. Last year, Ty and Lamb. This year, the rooks are looking to step forward in a big way. Yah, they aren't undrafted, but their contribution, plus Saric at the minimum are going to be key to the bench and depth of this team. And Podz and Saric are definitely shooters.
We need the second best shooter in the history of the game to show up like the second best shooter in the history of the game. And we need Wiggins & CP3 to stop shooting 15% from 3. That'll go a long way to righting the 'ship ship.
I get that Klay was younger back then. But he's still a great shooter. And I think hoping Wiggins & CP3 can be better than 15% is a pretty, pretty reasonable ask.
Post injury Klay led the league in 3PM on elite 3P% last year. Tell me how he's a diminished shooter? Sure, he's not the elite defender anymore, but that's not what I'm talking about.
Hey! How come we didn't hear more about the Donovan Mitchell flop from Draymond's nudge and follow-up bashing into Draymond - and then DG gets ejected?!!!! Strangest thing I ever saw. Please, oh basketball writer Gods - please help put this travesty into perspective.
Mitchell did another flop-act against sac last night and the foul was called on kevin Huerter. It seems like he is exactly the type of player that the NBA had in mind when talking about reducing the flopping - but they dont seem to be doing anything about it though! On the other hand, if Draymond Green is in the same court as a flopper, he (Dray) will likely be penalized !
Also, back in the old days we figured out that the castaways matched up perfectly with the seven deadly sins (the trick is to remember that the Skipper is Anger. Mrs. Howell is gluttony...)
Just had one of those creative sparks and ran with it. Took a few post post edits but happy where it's at. As much as I wanted to keep Dillon Brooks as the butt of the Primitive joke, I couldn't pass up on the similarity of Robinson Crusoe and Alex Caruso.
Looked at 2 man lineups with at least 15 minutes played.
There is one guy that has a negative net rating with every player he’s spent more than 15 min on the court with. His highest net rating is -2.7 with Moody. The highest minutes 2 man group on the team is he and Curry at -11.2 in 261 minutes together.
And he’s in the 6 worst 2 man groups on the team and 8 of the worst 9.
Anyone watching the kings-Cavs game live. Liga up 103-89 with 58.8 left in the 3rd. I thought the NBA was clamping down on players who exaggerate to het a foul call. Donovan f*** Mitchell keeps doing it and gets away - I am putting that guy on my “sports hate” list.
Wait, you mean having your #twobigs parked in the paint to take away drives forces your perimeter defenders to repeatedly fight around screens and give up open shots that real NBA shooters can make? Preposterous!
- JK has demonstrated a steady line of improvement in shot-making and decision making.
- Still has 3-4 years before he reaches fringe star level from his gradually improving decision making.
- He's making lots of mistakes, but still productive from shot-making and play-making. Once he irons out mistakes, he'll be better.
Then @ 9minutes, he talks about Wolves game:
Since the playoffs last year, the Lakers have put together a book on how to stop the Dubs' offense:
* If you have legit rim protection, you ignore Dray/Loon, have all perimeter defense top-lock, denying shots, forcing drives into the rim protection. This happened with both Cavs and Wolves.
* The Dubs have to solve this by looking to get static halfcourt offensive production outside of Steph: Klay/Wiggs/CP needs to be giving them about 50 points per game.
* Big picture: not worried about Dubs - this is a matchup dependent issue, and they have the firepower in the locker room to address this.
Well... the other problem is that nobody's giving up a current star for JK & salary filler... if, for instance, Markannen was walking through the door for JK & salary, I think JK would be on a plane. But I don't think that offer would be on the table, and are you sending JK and salary out to bring back Zach LaVine?
It really depends what the fo is willing to give up for an upgrade and if they're willing to eat more salary that's not expiring next year[doubtful]. We could offer Wiggins, JK/Moody , 2 picks, Pods for a star but do we want to do that for a better chance of getting Steph another ring. I don't think Lavine is a big enough upgrade over Klay personally and a Steph, Lavine, Klay lineup wouldn't fly either.
That's for the fo to figure out who is worth it and how much exactly to give up. For me I'd do it for pg13, kawhi if clippers decide to trade them. I like Hayward as he shouldn't cost the farm to get and fits our needs, Lauri is nice but don't think he's gettable. Last year I really wanted Porzingis obviously that ship has sailed but I wish we tried to trade for KP instead of CP3.
We don’t need JK to hit stardom during the Steph window, we just need him to be good. Hitting stardom at the tail end as we crest into a new era is great!
Speaking of island property, we listed our maui condo for sale today. We love it, but would prefer to live in something that isn’t vacation rentable. (It’s a premium in value that does us no good since we don’t rent it out and we want to live where we can have pets.)
Speaking of island, property, TJD Atoll has undergone extensive renovation, including the placement of a shark-away gate. TJD atoll is now open for all comers. And the requirement of a hula skirt has been discontinued.
You may have your reasons, but why *not* rent it out and pay your next mortgage wherever with the proceeds? My buddy in SoCal makes a good living renting out vacation properties, and he specifically instructed me never to sell a property in a prime location.
Crazy, right? It’s one reason we spend so much time at the shelter. Depending on what type of place we end up in, we might want to adopt at least one of the animals there.
Kerr seems out of bullets and so does some of the 'stars' of our team. Living on your laurels of the past only works for so long. Change is a coming...............
Yeah, change might be coming, maybe by the trade deadline, maybe the next couple years. Panic trading Wiggins and/or CP3 for any wing/ big seems unwise.
Depends on who is available and how the team is playing at that point. No panic here. MDJ is not exactly a panic picker. Cool as a cucumber. Even looks like one.
In a hypothetical trade for let's say Zach Lavine, would you rather trade Klay or CP3 as the main salary for him? If Klay we just slot Zach in that spot and nothing really changes. If CP3 I'd assume Klay or Wiggs will come off the bench and we gotta use Pods as the bench playmaker. Just something to think about
Zero chance of LaVine, imo — his contract is a 100% dealbreaker. They’re not blasting through the second apron, taking on $200M+ extra salary + taxes, losing future draft picks and flexibility, etc. for the marginal upgrade from Klay/CP3 to LaVine.
Probably no chance of Siakam, either … but at least his expiring contract makes him intriguing? Don’t think I’d trade Wiggs + Kuminga for him, but if we did that — with Klay, CP3 and Siakam all coming off the books simultaneously — we might actually have cap space for max free agent hunting next summer (on top of potentially upgrading the roster for this season, depending on how you feel about Siakam).
DeRozan is a lifetime 21ppg/46.8% shooter and 84%ft. Add in 4apg. But the only reason I mentioned him was because of Lavine. I'm happy to get a younger shooter or rim protector. Hayward is also a good choice. Charlotte's big man Williams would be a great piece to add. The Warriors have some hard choices as to who to give up. Klay, CP3, Wiggins, are the bigger contracts. Trading Wiggins will probably require packaging and I'm not sure the Warriors want to part with Kuminga or Moody but they are the only ones that will interest other teams. Klay's expiring contract would be huge for some teams to go after including us! But we are too emotional to give him up. Emotion is bad for business especially as we seem to be watching the demise of our dream team.
Yes probably very slim chance our fo would be willing to go for Lavine, Siakam I'm not sure is a great fit with Draymond in the front court as well. I'm holding out hope Clippers bottoms out with that lineup and they'll be willing to trade PG13 for instance for picks/young players.
If we traded Klay, let CP walk at the end of the year and PG declines his player option at end of year. Would that work? Then we can re-sign PG to a new longer contract.
CP3, of course. Klay may not be the same player he was in yesteryear, but he still defends and will shoot decently, not all star calibre. CP3 is not our future.
While offensive seem to be the focus, one can also criticize the fact that we gave up 116 points - which is about 4.5 points more then our season averaging 111.4 points per game. In comparison our offensive score of 110 was 4 points below our season average of 114. So Dray and looney and wiggins and Klay et al are also playing poor defense
Just to remind everyone, we have no rim protector and no paint scorer except TJD who can't get minutes. This is more than an oversight. It is a systemic problem. Kerr's problem.
Golden will point a finger at everyone but there big 3 Curry, Clay and Green. Jordan Pool now Wiggings I don't get it.
Why you spell Curry and Green right? Weird…
It's Monte's fault... not theirs.
What a low effort troll lol
What gritty kommentary we have here.
In the words of Immortan Joe, “mediocre.”
Clay with a C…
We were not world champion when the record was 6-2. And we are not trash being 6-5. We need to keep patience. They will figure it out.
Amen.

Perhaps someone needs to bring it to the League's notice!
Yah, I'm surprised there hasn't been any more on this. I still haven't heard an official explanation of how Dray got T'd up on a live-ball play.
Do "they" think we will forget about it?
OTOH, who is "they?"
[sung to the Gilligan's Island Theme]
Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip.
That started from this subtropic port, aboard this Championship.
The mate was a mighty sailing man, the Skipper brave and sure.
Five All-Stars set sail that day, for a 2-Timeline tour.
a 2-Timeline tour...
The Season started getting rough, the tiny 'ship was tossed.
If not for the courage of the fearless crew, Steph's Window would be lost,
Steph's Window would be lost.
The 'ship took ground on the shore of this deserted desert isle,
with Willigan, the Skipper too,
A Billionaire, and Chris Lite,
The Coach Steve Kerr, The Podcaster and Ironman
here on Willigan's Isle!
So this is the tale of our castaways, They've been here for a long, long time.
They'll have to make the best of things, it's a "too small" uphill climb.
The first mate, and his Skipper too, will do their very best
to make the others playable, on this deserted island mess.
No Phones, No lights, No E1P's, Not a single luxury.
Like Alex Caruso, It's primitive as can be.
So join us here each week, my friend, you're sure to get a smile,
from all of us at DNHQ, Here on Willigan's Isle!
This is awesome, and hoping for a quick rescue.
Also, back in the old days we figured out that the castaways matched up perfectly with the seven deadly sins (the trick is to remember that the Skipper is Anger. Mrs. Howell is gluttony...)
This is amazing
Holy shit. You just wrote that now? Amazing

Wiggs
Um, Wiggins?
Sad but true. Is it possible the team would be undefeated if he had been sidelined nursing a rib injury and been unable to play to this point?
He should be in the gym working out and fixing his ft/shot before he return to playing
Nice Canadian joke!
That's pronounced Heh, eh?

Kings have Fox back, and their offense looks good again.
They are destroying the Cavs
42/64 FGs, 18/32 threes for the Kings. Huerter (5/6), Murray (4/7), Monk (3/3), and Vezenkov (3/4) are lighting the Cavs up.
Sabonis and Monk are better offensive options than anyone on the Warriors not named Steph
I can't imagine Mobley can handle Sabonis...
OMG. Hey! Look what happens when your shooters actually make their shots!
Wait, you mean having your #twobigs parked in the paint to take away drives forces your perimeter defenders to repeatedly fight around screens and give up open shots that real NBA shooters can make? Preposterous!

Wizards blow a 19 point halftime lead against the Raptors, who closed the game on a 21-1 run to win by 4.
106 - 90 lead, lost 107 - 111. Epic
I see you, JP3… o_O
I'm guessing that the doom and gloom around here will dissipate should the Dubs sweep the remaining four games of this homestand.
I dunno, I don't see it as gloom. Team has flaws. If the whole squad is playing to their potential, they can beat anyone.
There just isn't much margin for error against the best.
Actually there is a TON of room for error. Just not the huge margin of Wiggs, CP3 and Klay all shooting like crap.
No argument there. Simply doesn't justify the hyperventilating about benching or trading Klay and/or Wiggs or trading CP3. Dubs have played 11 games.
I avoid the doom and gloom comments.
Im here for the articles and lighthearted stuff :)
Pshaw… it’ll dissipate if we win on a broken play banked in prayer buzzer beater from Looney.
Hopefully he could do it over Sabonis, for payback.
Timpf on JK:
https://youtu.be/v6jtYQteIRg?si=Nk0tGgiM8bw5PKcX&t=130
- JK can't be guarded without fouling him.
- JK has demonstrated a steady line of improvement in shot-making and decision making.
- Still has 3-4 years before he reaches fringe star level from his gradually improving decision making.

DeRozan for CP3. The Siakam/Wiggs trade doesn't work.
Derozan doesn't solve our issue with bad shooting at all. I'd rather try to get Hayward someone that can shoot dribble and pass.
DeRozan is a lifetime 21ppg/46.8% shooter and 84%ft. Add in 4apg. But the only reason I mentioned him was because of Lavine. I'm happy to get a younger shooter or rim protector. Klay for PG actually makes some basketball sense for both sides, but I think PG’s $47M price tag for next season kinda rules him out, too.
I think Klay is untradeable. Too much money for him. Way too much. At. least PG produces a potent game.
It could also be Wiggins+filler salary for PG
I don't think the clipps are that stupid.
I mean any of these trades mean we're also giving up multiple picks/swaps possibly jk/moody or Pods. Klay/Wiggs are just to match salary
If we traded Klay, let CP walk at the end of the year and PG declines his player option at end of year. Would that work? Then we can re-sign PG to a new longer contract.
I would trade CP3. However, LaVine is a chucker and has similar FG %age and lower three point %age than Klay this season so far.
CP3, of course. Klay may not be the same player he was in yesteryear, but he still defends and will shoot decently, not all star calibre. CP3 is not our future.

Kerr tantalized all of us into thinking he learned from last year and see- we are playing the rookies. Hope it’s not just eye candy for us fans
