After months of following this team day-to-day win or lose and then have the season turn into something truly wonderful with Steph's scoring run, it's hard to have it comer to such an abrupt end. Definitely feeling the loss of this entertaining team as the play-offs started over the weekend.

Here's to hoping GP2 ends up following in JTA's footsteps as far as playing so well we have no choice but to give him a guaranteed contract

ASSUMING we end up at the 6th spot, who are we taking here? BPA? Another wing? A shooter?

Just saw a suggestion over at GSOM that the FO should have traded Wiggins, Wiseman *and* our own first round pick for “a Brandon Ingram type” and “Poole and a draft pick for some veteran help.” 🤦‍♂️🤡

Anybody know the best reference to understand where each of our players stands with regards to re-signing and / or free agency, guaranteed non guaranteed? If not readily available, that’s my question for the mailbag!

I was going to give my take on the season but Specterace pretty much said what I wanted to say. I guess the only thing I want to add basketball wise is how happy I am that Steph put the league on notice and showed that he's still one of the greatest of this generation and he isn't done yet.

I also want to say thanks to the LGW staff and all the familiar faces new and old who built this site from the ground up. Last year was a rough one for all of us, and for me it was a lonely, lost year in the wilderness.

You guys bringing the passion and community to this new site after all the upheaval at Vox was a welcome presence for someone whose life didn't have a lot of anything or anybody familiar from the end of 2019 until Christmas last year. I've debated, game threaded, and celebrated with a lot of you over the last 11 or 12 years, and to see this same community stay alive helped get me through a miserable year and helped me transition to a normal life again.

This team has a few runs left in them but no matter what the future holds I'm glad I can enjoy the ride with you guys and gals.

Any suggestions on what to watch on Netflix that is season or less? There is Queen's

Gambit. More than a season and I won't leave my couch for days.

Random thing I remembered, I'm pretty sure Oubre hugged Steph towards the end of that game when he was looking disappointed. Really hope he's back

Actually a very fun season to watch for this long time fan. Quite a disappointment at the end after getting our collective hopes up. Since the Al Attles days I have always believed that playing a deep roster pays dividends in the long run. Not to criticize coach Kerr too much (he know his team much better than I do), but I might have thought they could have played some others- Paschall, Lee, Mannion, Bell, Payton Jr. even just a few minutes each to get some rest for Steph and Draymond who played way more than their regular rotation minutes in both the last two games. Kind of got away from the "Strength in Numbers" which I think really helps a basketball team. Interesting off season ahead… a little more rest for the now aging veterans… and hopefully some potential young assets to bring into the team’s future.

So what ate the chances KL leaves if the Clips choke again? If he left, what would be ournchances of obtaining him? Obviously orchestrating a trade of Wiggins to someone is step 1.

Either draymond becomes a shooter or he needs a reduced role on offense, simple as that, it's great in the regular season to let him throw back door passes all night but in the playoffs it has been proven that the system gets shut down.

Jta really shit the bed last night, wiggins was decent until the end of the game where he was horrible and I would have loved steph to be more selfish down the stretch, yes they were doubling him but they weren't doubling isolations, only pick and rolls or when a teammate came close.

Kerrs end of game execution was horrible once again, why is draymond even on the floor when we just need 1 point to win the game? Why not call a timeout, put curry, poole mulder wiggins and jta and completely clear the floor for a curry iso? Instead we get a fucking draymond floater.

Draymond played horrible last night and there's no way around it, in games against teams like Memphis where there's not an AD type of star to shutdown is draymond playing that much really necessary? I would love for draymond to be reduced to a more situational player instead of a 40+ minute cog

Still a little confused about that inbound from Steph in the late 4th yesterday. He threw that so hard but casually to JTA and it was almost a turnover. He wasn't even pressured or anything.

Couple things

1. This is why you never know with Wiggins shot and also why you don't judge a player by their last couple games of the season *cough* HB. Wiggins went 2-9 on 3s in the play in games. Even though he's shooting around 38% on the year, teams don't respect him out there like that do other good 3 point shooters. Still not blaming him for these losses even though he had some crucial mistakes in both games.

2. I did bring up if we lose its going to be because Ja hits his 3s. In a 7 game series, if he's making it, you just let them have the game. But in 1 game decides it all? At least put a hand up.

3. Despite all this, the biggest annoyance was Steph and Dray and their turnovers. They followed up 12 turnovers against the Lakers with 13 against the Grizz. I don't want to hear fatigue because while it def played somewhat of a role in it, they've always been careless. Like Kerr said after the Lakers game, not sure about this game, all unforced turnovers essentially.

4. In my opinion, refs were handing us this game. Got JV and JJJ in foul trouble and we still couldn't capitalize. On top of that the Grizz coach was even handing us the game by never challenging at the end.

5. Are we going to hear how Draymond doesn't need to work on his 3s again? His passing isn't that useful when he's getting as many turnovers as assists and teams are straight leaving him. Score SOMETHING.

I'm so mad because I think we could have beaten jazz and then with Oubre and Lee coming back later on, we'd have a good chance going forward

A bit of upbeat read:

Steph,Dray (and Klay) for sure plan to be stakeholders in off-season. They have earned that with what they showed in last 20 games (among other things).

Summer gathers and LGW's watch begins for exactly a month from now.

Thank you to Daniel, Duby, and Apricot, and to all of you commenters. It's been a heck of a year, but the last 7 weeks have been a romp. The Ws will be back.

1. A valiant late season run by a team decimated with injuries and illness.

2. Steph's championship window is as long as he is willing to lace them up. Can we just get off the "Window is closing narrative"?

3. The defense and season long effort game in and game out was incredible. Can we James Brown "Please, Please, Please, Please" stop caring whether or not Draymond scores. Add 8 defensive points to his 7 offensive points a game and that's 15 a game. His impact on team defense, his leadership, all while being the team's de facto point guard can't be overestimated. It wasn't just Steph that changed the game. Dray is right there with him (positionless, switching defenses).

4. That being said, we do need spread the play making around (relying on Dray too much) and outside of additional Poole minutes alongside Curry (which I like), this has to be done through the roster.

5. Let's not forget what happens to opposing defenses when Steph, Klay & Dray are on the floor at the same time. Steph and Klay are the planets (warping opponent's defenses) and Dray is Freakin' Copernicus, knowing exactly where those guys are going to be on the court at all times. This has been one of the most effective threesomes in NBA history and it seems like most people have forgotten this.

6. We have the foundation. We have a pretty decent 2-way Wiggs, an emerging bucket getter in Poole, Wiseman who will be getting 16/10 in his sleep in no time, potentially 2 good 1st round picks, last year's top 5 rookie Paschall (?), the amazing Looney, and some good back of bench role players. There is great potential if we just take a breath and let some Wiseman, new picks, Jessup?, Poole, etc. develop. Look 2 years ahead. Enjoy the process.

Or we could trade Wiggins, Wiseman, both first round picks this year, Poole & Paschall for Bradley Beale (ahem 95.7) like that's gonna work.

Future is bright, but only if they allow it to be.
