Awesome, just awesome! Is it agreed this doesn't happen without defensive all-star DGreen the court? Struck me strange that all Lacob could think to say to Steph was something to the effect of "do you have anything left for tomorrow"....billionaire nerves?
When my daughter was 5 yrs old and she said her favorite player was Draymond Green, I knew then that I might not be the best father, but at the very least I was doing something right.
Well-said, Duby. Even fans don't realize what they've got in Steph Curry. And the critics can kick rocks -- or watch the James Harden highlights on a loop.
Lost in the rigmarole about Frye's dumb comment and the dimwits on social media is the amount of disrespect the team has been coming in for. I think The Athletic had us at 27 in their power ranking after the first loss, writing in stuff like 'with their only win against a Warriors team no one believes in anymore'. Others haven't been as bad, but there's just a ton of triumphalist celebration about the death of the dynasty from the punditry that's off the charts.
Anyway, one to remember for sure from Curry, and one to silence the boo birds for at least one day. Let's hope he's able to be effective enough tonight to get a win against the Kings. It's tough going from that kind of high point to being back in a game, for the 3rd time in four days, right after. I like our (his) chances though.
maaaan, as much as I adore his writing prose, some of the narrative choices made by ESS have really rubbed me the wrong way. When dude wrote that piece that was like "Dynasty officially over" it broke my heart. He was one of the first people with a platform to really call the Warriors elite (this was right when we got Bogut and Iguodala). I miss that ESS. The believer.
We are at 24 now. So there is that. It's going to be tough to maintain this intensity by Steph and Dray every game but may be we can win second game of most baseball series (advantage Warriors because figurative rookies - Wiseman, Oubre, Paschall can consume scouting report).
imagine a Steph Curry who gets to the line for 15 shots a night!
62 points on 31 shots is fairly efficient.... Just imagine if he had been "on" from the 3 point line. He missed a few wide open shots in the first half.
He did go 50% from 3, including a lot of tough contested shots. Sometimes he misses the easier ones and makes the ones that are much more difficult, but that's just Steph.
50% from three is pretty low for a Steph explosion game; out of the top 20 games of his career by per 36 Hollinger Game Score, it's tied for the lowest 3P% with the Clippers game Jan 6 2018 where he scored 45 points in just under 30 minutes, was 8 of 16 from three, 15 of 16 from the line. Unsurprisingly, that game and this game are back to back at #5 and #6 respectively by that metric.
Pretty funny, really, that he did this on Jan 4th, and that game was on Jan 6th. Guess he likes playing in the new year or something :)
Duby, quick question; will my subscription automatically renew on the renewal date, or, do I have to do anything. Went into Substack, and my info is current....
Also, just a general programming note that we haven't really announced: Daniel is having some wrist issues, so I'll be pulling double duty on previews and recaps for a bit here (with support from the rest of the LGW team). I'm not the Gold Blooded King, obviously, but he will be back as soon as possible to spread his propaganda errr I mean, messages of faith!
There are some suspicions of worker's comp fraud, and that Daniel is faking it so that he can binge watch Kobra Kai season three over and over again... We have been assured that he's under the best care, but apparently that just means a lot of D'usse and Netflix
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
(for real though, I know it's killing him not being able to write about this game)
The Blazers are so committed to making that small backcourt work, but just haven't been able to assemble the support they'd need, defensively. It's not just that they're small either, guys like Patrick Beverley and Marcus Smart play way bigger than their size and defend like crazy. I've been pretty sold that they need to break up that Portland backcourt for like three years... fun team though!
(and welcome aboard! One thing for sure, it's going to be a wild ride this year!)
I think some of the grief Frye is getting for this quote is misplaced. Make no mistake about it, Curry *does* need to adjust his game. No, he doesn't need 31 shots a night, but if he doesn't average more shots a night than in any Kerr season to date, then something's wrong. That's a marked change from previous years.
Well, and the most hilarious part about that take is that Channing apparently completely forgot that his team got beat by the Warriors BEFORE Durant even got here. Curry doesn't need to change his game in a significant way.
That said, he *did* look meaningfully more aggressive last night. He doesn't normally hunt for drives as much, but I think one of the adjustments they saw against the ball pressure from the Blazers was for Curry to penetrate rather than just passing it out right away.

I'm shocked, shocked! Not that shocked.
Someday this guy will be known for more than being Seth's brother :-p
You're talking about Seth Green from Robot Chicken, right?
Awesome, just awesome! Is it agreed this doesn't happen without defensive all-star DGreen the court? Struck me strange that all Lacob could think to say to Steph was something to the effect of "do you have anything left for tomorrow"....billionaire nerves?
Just reading Dray's quotes from after the game, I realize that I love this man. Dude's just a rock.
When my daughter was 5 yrs old and she said her favorite player was Draymond Green, I knew then that I might not be the best father, but at the very least I was doing something right.
You are certainly not the worst.

A fate worse than death

I had no idea Ethan Strauss did their power rankings.

* Jan 3rd
Not complaining. Just something magical about averaging above 2.0 points per shot attempt.

Hey Dino, the answer is yes, subs will auto renew
> Monthly and annual subscriptions will automatically renew.

I have no idea but will look into it. Thanks a ton for the support!
I’m pretty sure the sub just renews; I am not sure what kinds of notifications you get
Very nice write-up. Thanks.
thanks for reading!

Hope you get better soon, Daniel!
First Klay's achilles, then Chriss's leg, now Daniel's wrists... Will the injuries never stop!?
It's all Chelsea's fault
It's the Curse of Chelsea!
Get the man some quality dictation software!

It's also the way he shoots and what leads to it. Totally unique player and style.
SAS sucks, but yay

Kind of unfair to cut off the "I think he can" directly afterwards
