If any players on either team were distracted by today’s events, I wouldn’t plane them. I tried to take a break from the news and enjoy the game, but was in a bit of a fog.
Today was an awful day for this country, Georgia results aside.
Would've been nice to win but good game overall. Played great defense... and forced Clips below their average FG% and forced 19 TOs. Only thing I wish we did differently was get Wiggins back in a little earlier to guard Kawhi... I think he had three (?) plays down the stretch where he got into his comfy zones too easily.
We're less than two weeks since the Bucks game and fans wanting to blow up the team and rebuild around Wiseman... we were a couple stops and a three or few FTs away from pulling out a win... we're doing alright :)
It's so weird how steph actively screws with the spacing. He runs into other plays when he's getting double teamed. Also the amount of times he called for a screen when he had a mismatch was crazy.
Without an average scoring night for Steph, this team is not going to get it done. There is no one else picking up the falloff for Steph. Clips shut down the starters and it was the bench that kept us kicking. Why is Oubre starting? He is Poole from last season. Bring him off the bench and give your 3 point guys like Lee, Mulder, and dare I say Poole, a shot. If Curry has an off night, you have to compensate with other shooters. Oubre has been empty in his shooting. Kerr needs to make this adjustment right. He definitely should not have the green light on 3s.
That closing line up for the last 3 minutes looked like a teaching moment from Kerr. He's clearly figuring Wiseman and Oubre are going to be part of the team's best possible closing lineup so he keeps them in to build that lineup's chemistry and the young guys' experience in these sorts of situations. Nothing teaches like the real thing after all.
If Kerr were playing the short game, you have to figure he puts in Lee, Looney, or Paschall instead. Wiseman was obviously struggling against Ibaka and Oubre was having a nightmare of a night, both of which remained true in the last few minutes.
I hate when steph is so passive. Every game this season where he's been bad you can tell from the start he would be bad. His shot looks weird and starts forcing random 3s.
The clips are a legit contender and this was competitive, about all you could ask for this early in the season with dudes that haven't played. If we can just keep around .500 for 15ish more games, I think we make the playoffs easy
I posted a post-game thread to consolidate the depressed conversation
How come there's no post game threads anymore?
I didn’t watch this game but the fact that we kept it so close despite the lack of Steph seems really encouraging to me.

Beverly with the SC30 lockdown. Need Wiggins' plus another offensive option to free him up. Time to bring KO off the bench yet?

No complaints about that one except Curry's potential injury.
If Kerr was really trying to win he would have played Paschall at center down the stretch though.

Game be damned. I want Steph to be okay.

Gonna guess Steph got a charly horse
Damn - What's up with Curry limping?
