This season has tied a Warrior worst record since Mark Jackson's first season as head coach 2011-12, after 24 games, 10-14. Last season, we were 13-11 after 24 games. This is Kerr's worst season ever. Will he last the season if the losing continues?
The Warriors were not at full strength for 2019-20. I purposely left it out.
The losing streak is not part of an overall record. It was worrying, though. The criticisms of Kerr for 2022-23 have carried over to this season. If the losing continues, his job will be an issue, for sure. I wonder if Myers saw the handwriting on the wall for the team? Just musing.
If you're trying to compare two coaches or the performance of one coach in two different years, it is not "cherry-picking" or "purposely misleading" to remove certain years because they don't provide a fair test.
NOTE: This is the kind of uncharitableness / near-hostility an earlier sub-thread was talking about. The questions are innocent, and the disagreement is okay, but must they be articulated in such an aggressive manner?
My Warrior Wonder for this game is Podziemski, by the way. He had some really solid defense (he did better against Harden than last time!), a bunch of big rebounds, charges drawn, pace pushed... even though I would like for him to score a bit more, he made a lot of positive plays.
He did some things well but he did go 2-11 and that just will not do for WW. May I present the first appearance as a WW this year, Klay Thompson. 8-12 from three? I'll take it.
Knicks beat the Suns 139-122. Knicks move to 14-10 and 7-7 on the road while the Suns fall to 13-12 and 6-8 at home. Brunson had a whopping 50 points on 17/23 FGs, 9/9 threes, and 7/9 FTs tonight. Randle had 23, Barrett had 21, Durant had 29, and Booker had 28.
On current season trend (24 games, 67 3-pointers, Klay will end the season with 2442 3-pointers. Assuming LeBron also stays on his current trend, he will also end the season with 2442 3-pointers. They'll be tied for 7th all-time, just behind Kyle Korver's 2450.
On the other hand, if Klay maintains yesterday's 8-per-game pace for the remaining 58 games, he'll finish with 531 for the season and 2744 for his career! One can only hope!
500+ threes for the season would be something worth celebrating, for sure. At that rate, Klay would have to be one of the top PPG scorers too. I would love to see it.
Dudes. I don't post that frequently but have been here and at GSoM from the old days. I'm at a breaking point with Draymond. I'd love to give him another chance and understand what he means to the team and the squad. The idea was that Steph Dray and Klay would always be lifers and that was a good dream. I'm on a razor line of thinking that this is no longer a viable strategy for a championship team. But who would take Draymond and what could we get?
Doesn't look like team is giving up on Dray. They want to help him. Wiggs was out 3 months for personal reasons. May be Dray be out for 3 months as well or more. I don't think these guys are giving up on him as a person
Whatever counseling he’s going to is NOT going to “fix” anything in a matter of weeks or months. If he actually leans into it, he can put himself on the path to understanding his reactive behaviors… but that’s a long process of discovery.
A voluntary commitment to actually try and fix a personal issue can be a paradigm shift in behavior. I don't think Draymond needs 6 months of therapy to fix his behavior, even though he needs years of therapy. But to play bball and fix his outbursts it shouldn't take much.
>>Warriors assistant coach Kenny Atkinson has joined the staff of the French national team
I saw this at hoopsrumors and am trying to square it with seeing him on yesterday's sideline. Is this a seasonal thing that won't conflict with his Warriors duties?
If the Warriors lose even one more game this season, I'm going to start looking for another team to root for. You won't notice, I'll still be here pretending to be part of the squad but inside I'll be traitorous. What team should I start rooting for?
Pick a team we won't see again this year. Maybe the Cavs. I mean, the Bucks have a deer as their mascot and they're pretty good in the clutch even if their defense is on and off, but we'll have to face them later.
The Spurs should be a, uh, fun team to watch aside from the whole losing games thing. But they have the really long arms guy!! He looks so crazy!
My understanding is that he, a 19 year old guy, went to a club that only admits 18 and over. She apparently turned out later to not be 18 but 16. Age of consent in Oklahoma where I believe it happened is 16.
How consensual their interactions were I have no idea, what actually happened I have no idea, but I do know that the NBA is letting him play because at present not only is there no conviction, there's not yet a case. Who knows? If a jury convicts him, let him do his time. But to me the circumstances of how they met and the fact that he has not been convicted of anything says that I'm still OK rooting for him until something else happens. Is that fair?
Did I say it wasn't? I try not to judge others just for having a different intuition on a publicly known event. Is it fair that I don't know if he broke the intent of the age of consent laws, but still find it weird that a 16 year old appealed to a 19 year old? I won't hate/ commit the guy for a thing I don't know about, but that's weird to me and I'd prefer not rooting for him. That was basically my stance on Lamb as well, fwiw.
Pacers have the 2nd best offense in the league, but they also have the 4th worst defense in the league. Pacers defense made Poole, Kuzma, Kispert, and even Coulibaly look good. Tyus Jones got a triple-double tonight as well.
Also, Turner, Hield, and Brown couldn't hit their shots tonight.
Question: would it be allowed for an NBA Team to sign a foreign player anytime they want and pay him whatever team and player agree on? If yes, sure they aren’t any decent players/centers around? In Serbia? Greece? Germany? Australia? Do we have scouts looking for talent internationally?
Podz went 2/11 as a starter with 30+ mins for 4 pts. Somehow he gets a pass because he "hustles". If those numbers came from Wiggins or even Moody we would hear no end of it.
Slower, smaller, can't defend the interior or perimeter like Moody, can't create shots as well as Moody, and Moody was 4-6 for 11 points while Podz ended up 2-11 for 4 points. And also they closed a lot of crunch time with CP3.
Agree. It's not an either-or for me between Podz and Moody. I love Podz's game. But Moody getting limited minutes in this all-new Warrior set-up is disappointing, especially given how well he has been playing. He's always the odd one out.
On one hand, yeah… on the other hand, he drew at least 2 charges, rebounds way better than those guys, makes 41% of his 3s, and keeps the offense moving with quick decisions. He had a down shooting/scoring game… it happens. If it trends down, let’s talk.
Don’t get extra credit for that, imo. Warriors are here to compete for a ‘ship NOW. Who cares if players are a rookie, 3rd year player, or vet. Whoever is helping to win should get the minutes.
It's hard to hear someone giving Podz extra credit for laying an egg his 18th game when Wiseman, Moody, and JK were raked over the coals for just making a mistake as they constantly looked over their shoulder knowing they had been signed onto Kerr's "play in one game in 7 and only until you make a mistake" plan for their (under-)development. It kinda makes you wonder why the disparate treatment.
This season has tied a Warrior worst record since Mark Jackson's first season as head coach 2011-12, after 24 games, 10-14. Last season, we were 13-11 after 24 games. This is Kerr's worst season ever. Will he last the season if the losing continues?
They went 5-24 to start 2019-20.
They also had a 7-16 stretch towards the the of their ‘22 championship season.
I think there’s next to zero chance Kerr does not last the season. Who knows next summer, tho.
The Warriors were not at full strength for 2019-20. I purposely left it out.

So you lied to us.
> The Warriors were not at full strength for 2019-20. I purposely left it out.
That's called "cherry-picking", yes.
Think deeper.
Some might say “purposely misleading”
Only you.
If you're trying to compare two coaches or the performance of one coach in two different years, it is not "cherry-picking" or "purposely misleading" to remove certain years because they don't provide a fair test.

I disagree, it’s cherry-picking, and I’m not being hostile.

Bradley Beal landed awkwardly and turned his ankle tonight. He only played for 5 minutes and did not return after the injury.
Wiseman 20 pts (against Embiid)
JP 30 pts and a lot of beautiful assists
In Italy we say: "Quando il gatto se ne va, i topi ballano" that literally means "when the cat is away, the mice dance."
Poole had his first great game of the year. Against one of the worst defenses in the league 🤷♀️
Sure, and the fast pace of the Pacemakers helped too, but still…
Maybe that's all he needed to get back on track. We'll see.
Almost as happy to see JP have a breakout game as I was to see Klay have his last night. Good on him. Also, that kid Coulibaly's the real deal.
I'm optimistic we will see improvements from Wiggins and Looney in upcoming games. Klay will be Klay, we will see a game with 10+ 3s soon.
Did Wiseman look as good as that boxscore indicates? Or was most of it in garbage time minutes? That statline is nothing to sneeze at 🥰
He played significant minutes and did well going up against Embiid. Embiid is playing at another level so far this year, out of this world.
Dudes. I don't post that frequently but have been here and at GSoM from the old days. I'm at a breaking point with Draymond. no one would give us a player that's better, and we can't afford a downgrade
And will therapy fix his issues and will he be at 85% of classic Draymond? If so I think Kuminga, GP2, Moody and others can make up for it.
I've heard flogging works..............
You probably heard that from Draymond. 😉
ha ha. I'm closer to Singapore than Draymond. Flogging seems to work down there. People behave themselves. It's a better alternative to the Saudi way.
So we'll need 3 guys and chip-ins from others to make up 85% of Draymond? Why not just keep Draymond.
Whatever counseling he’s going to is NOT going to “fix” anything in a matter of weeks or months. If he actually leans into it, he can put himself on the path to understanding his reactive behaviors… but that’s a long process of discovery.

Has Asher raised his hand to therapize Draymond? Who better than Asher?
Oh please no. Dray will come back with JK on his mind.
Asher: So Dray, how are you feeling
Dray: Ummm ...
Asher: Wait, before we go there, how about that kid JK?
Dray: .....
Asher: Indeed, he is amazing. Now let's back to you. So?
Dray: I am..
Asher: Oh wait, one more thing. Did you did see that CP3-JK dunk
Dray: ...
Asher: Yup. I am so proud. So why so mad, Dray.
Dray: It's just that these refs, umm
Asher: I know right - they won't give any calls to JK. What has kid gotta do to get some calls
..
..
(an hour later, Dray punches himself and walks out)
I'd always assumed this was how most of Asher's therapy sessions go.
With Lacob saving money on Dray's suspension, does that open up the 15th spot on the roster?
we don't need more players, we need less players.
Exactly… thusly, consolidation is a strong consideration.
>>Warriors assistant coach Kenny Atkinson has joined the staff of the French national team

Was the headlock part of a negotiation to get Kenny the job?
No different than Kerr being Team USA, right?
Duh. Thanks.
Spurs beat the Lakers without AD, DLo, and Reddish 129-115. Spurs move to 4-20 and 2-11 at home while the Lakers fall to 15-11 and 5-9 on the road.

pistons
I was requesting NBA teams, that's still my rooting interest
...if it's a better time, let me know! What have the dubs done for me lately?
OKC? Young fun, SGA Chet a couple of guys named Williiams...
They're cool minus a certain Australian. I'm digging the Pacers as they play Nellyball X1000 personally
Why don't you like Giddey?
Did he not hook up with like a 15 year old? I hadn't heard of anything else since that was initially reported
That's the legal age here in Thailand. Maybe he forgot where he was.
My understanding is that he, a 19 year old guy, went to a club that only admits 18 and over. She apparently turned out later to not be 18 but 16. Age of consent in Oklahoma where I believe it happened is 16.

Sga has starting the search for freethrows alla the beard and i find it .. ugly, otherwise I enjoy watching them.
I admit I havent seen the pacers but it sounds like beauitfiul basketball
The Harlem Globetrotters, they always win.
Sea Dubs
JP - 30/8 in a win over the IST finalist
JW - 20/13 and a net +27 rating
Happy for JW
Like IST is a thing
It is a “thing” (what kind of thing remains to be seen)… but my reference was 100% tongue in cheek, lol.
Related: both IST finalists go down on the same night in losses to teams on 10+ game losing streaks! 🤯

I think it would have to be a player for whom no other team has draft rights.
I don't think there's any difference between foreign or american player when it comes to active roster spots
Thanks. So why they are not looking? We could free a roster spot, no?
Money, I guess. That's why they have Gui Santos signed for 14th spot for minimum salary but very little guaranteed.
Listening to MDJ yesterday, I think they want to wait 15-20 games before making any changes.
Avoiding the inevitable.
Or maybe not make rash decisions - like say, trade Klay - which seemed to be a trending thought on DNHQ till couple of days ago.
But why not consider it?
Podz went 2/11 as a starter with 30+ mins for 4 pts. Somehow he gets a pass because he "hustles". If those numbers came from Wiggins or even Moody we would hear no end of it.
Podz and Curry had serious trouble around the rim against the Clips.
It kinda blew my mind that he closed over Moody tbh
right now he's got a better handle and is a better playmaker than Moody.
Slower, smaller, can't defend the interior or perimeter like Moody, can't create shots as well as Moody, and Moody was 4-6 for 11 points while Podz ended up 2-11 for 4 points. And also they closed a lot of crunch time with CP3.

Well, he hustles. No scare quotes needed.
He gets a pass because he's been playing well all season. Moody would get a pass too. Wiggins has used up all his passes.
On one hand, yeah… on the other hand, he drew at least 2 charges, rebounds way better than those guys, makes 41% of his 3s, and keeps the offense moving with quick decisions. He had a down shooting/scoring game… it happens. If it trends down, let’s talk.
Also a 20 year old rookie playing in his 18th NBA game.
Don’t get extra credit for that, imo. Warriors are here to compete for a ‘ship NOW. Who cares if players are a rookie, 3rd year player, or vet. Whoever is helping to win should get the minutes.
