Bunch of amateur fans here. Am I the ONLY one who has been following Lindy's career closely?????
Good grief. Stay in touch, people!
For those who don't know, Lindy Waters is a ... hmm ... a basketball player who has been traded to the Golden State Warriors. He specializes in ... basketball things. He shoots it. He probably also dribbles it, and passes, but I don't have all the advanced stats, OK? I'm a fan not a maniac.
Denver’s Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is declining his $15.4 million player option for the 2024-25 season to become a free agent, sources tell me and @Tjonesonthenba. Caldwell-Pope – a two-time NBA champion – is expected to receive interest from multiple teams with salary cap space.
Denver and star Jamal Murray are working toward a four-year, $209 million maximum contract extension this offseason, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Nuggets will present the deal to Murray – a 2023 NBA champion and one of the best clutch players – and sides expect agreement.

The Lindy trade seems like a rare instance where both fanbases are mildly annoyed. OKC because he grew up in OK (he's Cherokee and Kiowa, too) and seems to be sort of a fan favorite in the same way JTA was here.
- Moody into the starting lineup to replace Klay; Steph, Podz/Moody, Kuminga/Dray, TJD are your starters. (Slashes based on matchups, how team/players are playing, etc)
- LW3 (I might call him NLW for Not Lonnie Walker) provides quality shooting depth and size at the 2/3.
- Santos depth at the 3/4
- Loony 2nd/ depth center
Obviously some more moves to fill out the roster but this puts us WAY under the cap and is, I think, a pretty solid roster.
I'm sorta not buying the 'trade salary filler' thing at this point.
LW3 is on a minimum. Why spend a pick to go out and get a minimum contract to include in a deal? You could sign any number of FA guys to a min deal, and you'd keep the pick.
edit: I guess it's remotely possible that we are doing it for OKC's sake, because they are in a bigger deal later. Seems a reach, though.
OKC presumably needs time to flip the pick into another trade before 52 comes up. I only think it makes sense for OKC as a consolidation move of some kind.
Let’s move over to a new thread. I did a superficial scout of Waters over here: https://open.substack.com/pub/dubnation/p/meet-lindy-waters-iii-the-newest
Reminder: Draft spoilers are ENCOURAGED in this thread.

I like Waters. Fast release, looks a lot like Klay no? Except a lot younger and cheaper.

Lindy Waters III apparently has game, lol

That is wild. The fact that the guy kept his arm around her is crazy

I did not follow draft talk for a second, in last 30 days: I was right
I've earned a lot of time to read books, go hoopin' and watch movie. Very proud of my choice
Wise man Freddie.

Sources: Toronto is sending Jalen McDaniels to the Kings for Davion Mitchell and Sasha Vezenkov.
Ohhhhh I thought you said Jaden McDaniels. That would be big news. I guess it would also be big news that he was on Toronto in the first place.
Jalen : Jaden :: Seth : Steph
Wait until you hear about Jaren McDaniels who plays for the Magic
The Kings are sending the Raptors the 45th pick in Thursday's NBA Draft as part of the trade, sources tell ESPN.

The deal gets the Kings under the luxury tax and opens a roster spot.

Raptors fans on r/NBA: "WE ARE FREE!!!"
Catching up, my reading of the tea leaves:
- don’t pick up CP’s option
- let Klay walk
- Moody into the starting lineup to replace Klay; Steph, Podz/Moody, Kuminga/Dray, TJD are your starters. (Slashes based on matchups, how team/players are playing, etc)
- LW3 (I might call him NLW for Not Lonnie Walker) provides quality shooting depth and size at the 2/3.

I’m probably missing something(s) here…
Solid roster to compete for a play in spot
If that is true, can we just send Stephen and Draymond to a serious franchise? They deserve better than that.
Wiggs and/or what he brings back. Or maybe that falls under "some more moves". But felt like a pretty big thing to leave out haha.
Im looking forward to are 52nd pick.
Who is Lindy again?
There's no more pick though.
Plus LW3 shot 100% at the FT line this past season. Yea, it was only 2 attempts, but I think those numbers will hold up!
If this guy isn't packaged/traded in the next week I'll be shocked. This is a really weird move.
I'm sorta not buying the 'trade salary filler' thing at this point.

Yeah... they gotta fill out the roster somehow. Waters is a perfectly fine end of bench guy.
We asked for Paul George, and we got Lindy Waters III. It's like asking for a puppy and getting an Ant Farm.
It’s like wanting Ant and getting an ant farm
A fire ant farm
Without walls
LOL - all the draft talk and it ends with Lindy Waters III. Truly a name I have never heard about.
My .02 worth of internet research.
His per 36 numbers are pretty interesting. 43% on 3s is obviously legit, but he also takes 11 3PA's/36. That's Klay Thompson volume.
Also had 5 reb's, 3 assists, 0.6 steal, and 0.9 blocks. That's pretty good other activity for a shooter.
6'6 215 is a good frame.
Thunder Reddit seemed to like him. High effort guy.
You never know! Seems like a guy who has a shot at being a good rotation guy who was buried on a deep Thunder roster
Yeah I looked it up and he cooked in the G-League last season.
Warriors finally found their Mychal Mulder replacement lol.
Justinian crawled so Lindy can fly.

You could replace Thunder with Warriors and we'd all know who it'd refer to...
Mascots?
Gui Santos…?
I meant Moody but I guess he wasn't really buried "deep"
Why did they need to make this move now? Couldn't we wait until a little closer to draft time?

They may just try to sell it
