>>>[Fischer] Dallas had contacted several teams this week, looking to reroute additional salary for a potential three-team deal, sources said. A bunch of teams knew inklings about the Mavericks being close on a trade. Nobody knew it was trading Luka Doncic.<<<
This is what is scandalous. Shows they didn’t even attempt to get a better offer. wtf is wrong with them?
But I also understand the NBA is a business and entertainment and if Silver tells you to do something for the financial betterment of the league, you have to suck it up
Jokic getting traded to the Knicks. (Especially hilarious if it’s for Mitch Robinson and OG and the Denver GM says it’s because “defense wins championships.”)
I thought the Lakers would be a complete mess after Bron retires but now they’re set up to be relevant again for the next decade. SMH. Luka winning a chip with the Lakers would make me vomit even more than any other team winning one.
One more thought. I think it is and is going to be a terrible trade for Dallas. Is there a world where it's not? Sure. Luka keeps getting hurt the next 5 years, AD balls out and they make another Finals.
Nico Harrison has some MASSIVE balls for making this deal. To pull the trigger on trading Luka is insane.
Tonight I learned that Nico Harrison was one of the Nike guys who fucked up the presentation to Curry (called him "Seth") and caused him to go to Under Armour instead.
Another thing is glamor and pizazz and marketing and all that. Young people are nuts for Luka. He's got flash, he's international, he smiles, makes clever passes, young adults think he's cool, kids want to be him. Nobody on the playground goes "Watch this turnaround, I'm AD!!"
Dallas just took everything fun about their team and turned into a Kyrie mental meltdown in 3...2....
Hmmm. AD was the scariest part of the Lakers defense (and we should know), and he can beast on offense as well. In Dallas he'll have Kyrie and Klay to help with scoring. Lively will be back in a month (with luck), and they have Gafford, so AD can play the 4, which he prefers, and that will be a big front line.
But who will be the playmaker besides Dinwiddie? Maybe Dallas is not done dealing. It's a shocker but if they can solve the playmaking question, they could be pretty darned dangerous.
I guess the Lakers expect Jaxson Hayes to step up at the 5 for now unless they're still dealing too. Seems like they have a big hole to fill there. And as great as Luka is on offense, he isn't so great as a defender.
OK but basketball-wise, on the floor, doesn't it seem kind of crazy to have Luka, the single most ball dominant guy alive, literally has the ball in his hands more than anyone in the league, alongside LeBron who is also at his best when he can distribute???
But one of the reasons it’s so nuts is all the geometry changed. LeBron isn’t the central figure of the Lakers anymore. Luka is.
How they fit is dramatically less important than getting 25 year old Luka Doncic into a Laker uniform. Historically, if you get a superstar like that to that franchise it ends up in championships.
"LeBron James learned of the Davis-Doncic trade after the Knicks game when it broke while he was out to dinner with his family, sources close to James told ESPN. James was surprised by the news, is processing it and had no idea it was in the works, sources said."
Oh, I see. I appreciate the thought, but that's a miss for me.
It's about therapy, and I absolutely hate all fiction about therapy, serious or comedy, because it's so off from what reality is like. It also isn't what I want to do at the end of a long day. Everyone always wants me to watch the Sopranos, watch some other show and I'm like "Do construction guys go home and watch construction?"

Fuck fuck fuck - no fucking way !

They wanted AD lol
What could top this in terms of shock value?
Tatum for SGA?
Jokic for Giannis?
Wemby for Ja?
It’s two parts. Player and franchise.
Jokic getting traded to the Knicks. (Especially hilarious if it’s for Mitch Robinson and OG and the Denver GM says it’s because “defense wins championships.”)
Wemby to Celtics for Tatum and Porzingis.
Those would be more shocking.
The Warriors just improving without any trades and winning a chip????
I'll duck
WHAT IN THE WORLD??????
You're late. Detention next weekend.

It's the Lakers. They always get a star somehow cause it's the lakers.
In no world did the organization earn AD and LeBron. It just fell into their lap
I hate it
Give 'em hell, Dirk.

As a really nasty fan - I am very happy that Klay will not win his 5th before Steph!
Tonight I learned that Nico Harrison was one of the Nike guys who fucked up the presentation to Curry (called him "Seth") and caused him to go to Under Armour instead.
My recollection was it was Steven not Seth (and they also still had KD's name on some of the slides).

Luka kept Dallas relevant as a franchise as long as he was there. Face of the franchise, one of the global faces of the league.
Now they're just Houston.

Strange days.
Actually, Houston I find really exciting.
I want to throw up saying it, but Houston has young talent. Dallas has...Lively and that's about it.
I'm just talking from a branding standpoint
Theoretically though, Houston will always be a much more desirable location for free agents
Trading Luka without even looking at other offers...
Before this year, Luka had played in 65+ games every season (61 of 75 covid year). AD had 3 straight injury-prone years before last year.
If teams are trading players for being fat...can the Warriors get offered Jokic?
Yes, Luka is out of shape and currently injured. Did Dallas forget the AD is always (and currently) injured?
Lakers sold high on AD for sure.
DNHQ AFTER DARK CURRENTLY LOADING......
Bron to GSW on the way
No seriously this was my first reaction
Normally I don't believe the "LeBron had no idea this was happening" talk but I actually do believe it in this case
which bron
Le
Actual lol here
Both.
Package deal

This is a trade for the future for sure
This can't be it for LAL as far as trades go is it? A trio of Luka, LeBron and Reaves just don't make sense. What's next, Austin to GSW??
It would have to be for Podz. Can't have two white combo guards on the floor at the same time, it's prevented by the Pauli Exclusion Principle.
I never, ever want to see Steph in another uniform. I have never considered following a player rather than a franchise. I might with Steph.
I'm not 100%, but I might have traded him for Luka.
Steph to Dallas for AD.
Curry and Klay reunited on Dallas would be wild
I mean, from a basketball standpoint, you absolutely trade Steph for Luka.
From a emotional standpoint, it would suck. Not only bc Steph is the Warriors, but bc he is fun to watch and a great teammate and Luka...is not.
Part of basketball is Watching It. So nope.
I’d call for an ambulance.
You’re right- you’re not 100%

From Dave McMenamin
😂😂😂 at anyone who actually believes that
Isn’t he co-owner of Klutch, the agency repping AD? I feel like he must have heard before everyone else.
He definitely did lmao. This is hilarious to read
Good. I hate how much he controls everything. Let's see him get puppeted around a bit. Oh, you wanted to touch the ball on offense? Sorry, Luka has it
Gonna be surprised when his flight home is going to sf and not la too
I mean this shit’s crazy. Maybe there’s another shoe to drop like Luka doesn’t pass physical or something.
Holy shit, I'm rooting for that, that would be so funny if Doncic had to go back to the Mavericks after this
