My 'strategy' suggestion is to tell Curry that Patrick Beverly and Kawhi Leonard were saying that he's washed and was never that good; he just benefited from playing on a team of stars. I'd put up handy Twitter remarks from his critics in prominent places, so that he can see that the critics haven't gone away.

That should about do it.

Our length bothers the Clippers because they score from the perimeter. But we have to be much smarter with our double teams because simple passes to wide open Batum threes are a pretty good way to get a blowout. We were actually very good in the 1st and 3rd quarters on that score but lost the plot in the late 4th. We'll have to play an exceptional defensive game and figure out a way to use the attention on Curry for positive offensive results if we're to win, not to mention more positive and fewer negative plays out of Oubre and Wiseman, but it's definitely possible.

The team needs to eek out as many wins on this homestand as possible, because none of these is a gimmie and several we're big underdogs. Without a sense of urgency, the losses are going to start piling up fast, and then 'playing a competitive game' goes out the window and you get full scale doom index. That's never good for team building because dissention and all manner of risks get more imminent.

Some early looks at Steph shooting around. Seems ok!

On the other side of the gym, it looked like at least 2 of 3 Oubre’s 3-point attempts missed.

Hate to say it but I hope curry sits. Pat Bev is not the right dude to test a sore ankle against. Even with curry we're not favored and if we lose him for a significant stretch bc we tested his ankle... well let's not even go there

Have to say you're making sense.

Covid hitting sixers and Celtics. Wondering if the season is sustainable? I’m guessing the nba will be first in line for vaccines when it becomes available to most people. I kind hope the season gets paused again. Then Klay maybe can come back for the playoffs. Just dreaming ha

Expand full comment

They should not make the vaccine mandatory for the NBA players or anyone, for that matter. Not enough clinical trials alone should be a sign of caution. The fact is the clinical trials are going to be the general public when they release these vaccines. Professional athletes should not be guinea pigs. They should be busy protecting themselves at all times to stay in peak health by exercising their brains and acting with common sense.

Wow, just saw that Seth Curry is the one who tested positive for Rona : (

> @wojespn

> The 76ers are expected to have multiple players miss time due to contact tracing and are still awaiting results of today’s coronavirus testing, sources tell ESPN. Those players were in close contact with Seth Curry, who sources say returned a positive test on Thursday.

It's even crazier than that. He learned of the positive test while having been on the bench the entire 1st qtr. I don't know how that game didn't get stopped.

Interesting... this is from https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/08/sports/basketball/nets-sixers-seth-curry-coronavirus.html

> “An initial positive test received during a game, when a player has already tested negative that day, results in the player’s immediate removal but does not trigger the cancellation of a game,” said David Weiss, the league’s senior vice president for player matters.

Money, and despite the NBA being a smarter league than the NFL, it is acting just as stupidly in a number of ways when it comes to coronavirus :(

Cautiously pessimistic. Didn't like the way the Clippers were able to lock down in crunch time and prevent us from getting any decent shots off. We're far more coherent than at the start of the season, but also not among the elite teams. I'm hoping these Wiseman minutes are going to pay off in the spring.

LMAO!

The outcome of this game depends on Curry and Oubre making shots most of all. If Steph sits, I can't see us winning it. If he gets hot, the game is ours for the taking.

Not sure if we have the solution to Kawhi+PG; but we defended them well enough for 3½ quarters last game. Wiggins was excellent at cutting off Leonard's drives so then we just have to interfere with the passing lanes and/or get the defensive boards.

I'll be very curious to see if Kerr changes the rotation at all for this rematch. The starters were very minus while the 2nd unit was fairly plus last time; does Looney get crunch minutes over Wiseman? Does Oubre get benched for Lee or Bazemore in the 1st quarter? Does Mulder see more playing time? Or does Kerr say, hey, it was just a bad night for a couple guys, let's just reroll the dice and hope we don't get snake eyes this time?

Oubre is barely clinging to that starting role, imho. If he can't find his shot soon, then all the defense in the world isn't going to matter. Maybe it would be a good way to shake him out of whatever this slump is?

If I'm Kerr, I'd only be thinking about some light tinkering at this point though. They were RIGHT there with the Clipps till that Kawhi foul pissed off their whole team

The fact that he found his shot in the Sacramento game only to have it disappear again vs LAC a couple nights later is the most puzzling part.

What really stuck out was the intensity level from start to finish in that game. After a season watching teams coast for three quarters knowing they could pull out the win with a burst of effort last year, seeing the Clippers take the game seriously from the tip was refreshing. Seeing the Warriors prove worthy of that respect was nice.

Seeing the starting lineup prove worthy of the contempt they showed the shooters wasn’t.

If nobody is within 10 feet of you at the 3 point line that should turn into a play at the rim, even if it’s an offensive foul.

Expand full comment

If there's nobody within 10 feet of then at the 3pt line, it's because their defense is stacked in the paint.

Expand full comment

I disagree with the last part, if there is nobody within 10 feet of a player at the 3pt line, they should take the shot, whoever it is, include Green and Wiseman. The Warriors need some other players besides Lee and Wiggins that can keep the defense honest otherwise by making a 3 otherwise they are going to see box+1 and traps on Curry all season long. Gree was a 33% 3pt shooter early in his career, there is no reason he shouldn't be able to do that now.

Expand full comment

Like Lee, Bazemore and Mulder are both shooting .500 on 3-pointers, they should be letting it fly if they’re open and have their feet under them.
