Paccal Siakam and Christian Wood are my top two realistic trade targets tbh. Wood is a trade target that I don't really see many people talking about, but he would fit us perfectly giving us a stretch 5 next to Draymond thats also pretty young.
Siakam and Wood scenarios have been kicked around for weeks on the Warriors subreddit. Lots of good discussions
Key issue for Wood is, he's only been performing this well for one (half) of a season, and he's very injury prone. Hopefully Wood's performance is sustainable and not a one hit wonder...
Plus, there are many other suitors for Wood, recognizing his value at only $13M that it'll likely force the Dubs to have to overpay.
Fit-wise, Wood would be great, vertical rim finisher, decent at 3FGs, plays well as both PnR and PnP threat. Provides some rim defense and has enough lateral mobility to switch. Dubs would have 4 shooters around Dray again for the first time since Andre and KD departed. More spacing for everybody, including Steph, hopefully this means less double teaming
To be clear, Wood has been performing very well for more than half a season. In 2019-20, over the course of the final 22 games of the season, Wood averaged 19.7 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.4 three-point field goals made in just 29.9 minutes per game.
His per 36 numbers have been very good for a while now as well. Everything else though, I would agree (your criticism of his injury proness is very well noted).
Not sure how realistic either target is, but they’re different cases, salary-wise: Wood is cheap enough at $13.6M that he could be had without losing Wiggins (Oubre TPE or Wiseman), where Siakam requires losing Wiggins (or one of the big 3).
Not sure I’d do Wiggins for Siakam straight up, which blows up any of the going Siakam rumors for me. Green for Siakam would make more sense positionally, but I’m too attached to Dray (and the emotional reunion of the Big 3) to approve that one.
Honestly, I think I would give up Siakam for Wiggins just because of how special I think Siakam is defensively (but I understand if you're worried about losing Wiggins shooting. I just think that with Curry/Klay coming back he can AT LEAST return to his 35% shooting while continuing his 20 PPG per game average).
As for Wood, why exactly do u think he is unreasonable? I'm going to be honest, I'm not really in favor of Siakam for Wiggins (just the best of bad trade options). However, Christian Wood seems like very reasonable/possible giving up Wiseman + A Pick to a rebuilding Rockets squad?
Just for salary matching purposes, Wise, Oubre, and picks would suffice -- without Wiggs. For example, Wise $9M, Oubre $16M, #7 $5M, #14 $3.5M (with picks traded 30 days after the draft) would be pretty close to Siakam. That would be ideal, holding on to Wiggs to defend smaller guards/wings to preserve Klay/Steph.
Toronto may ask for more than just two FRPs without Wiggs, though...
A closing lineup of Steph, Klay, Wiggs, Siakam, Dray would be outstanding defensively
My working assumption is a 9-man rotation of Steph, Klay, Wiggins, Dray, Chris, Poole, JTA, Looney and Wiseman.
That’s taking the rotation that finished the season so strong, but with four big upgrades:
1. Klay instead of Bazemore
2. Lee instead of Mulder
3. Add Chriss (assuming vet min)
4. Add Wiseman
Let’s draft two of Barnes, Bouknight, Kispert, Mitchell, Wagner (Warrior-types who can provide immediate returns and grow their games over time) and round out the roster with Mills (who joins the rotation) on the MLE and vet minimums to Bazemore, GR3 or Burks. We’ll let Jessup, GP2, Paschall and Mannion battle for the final roster spots.
My presumptive “run it back” team is built to play Kerr-ball. It’s a team that’s likable, full of hustle and almost entirely home grown (or adopted as “our guys”). It’s a deep 10-man rotation with plenty of playable non-rotation players, so built to survive a normal amount of injuries. While they may not be a super team and overwhelming favorites, it’s a team that’s built to contend. Honestly, that checks all my boxes as a Warriors fan. Knowing that it will be a $400 million payroll obligation (by far the largest of any team), I won’t question ownership’s commitment to winning and I don’t think Curry will either.
Really importantly, it’s a team with a lot of youth and a bright future. Wiggins, Looney, JTA, Poole, Wiseman, #7 and #14 are all guys with a lot of potential to grow and become stars as the core guys play less minutes. They all have value in being guys the team can keep re-signing. Trading them away means only MLE and vet minimum guys for the foreseeable future given the salary commitments.
None of the proposed trades have shaken me off my position.
Wiseman’s style of play seems to be an awful fit for Klay’s off ball motion skills. It tanked Steph’s historical season, imagine what it can do to Klay. Unless he uses this off-season to radically change his mindset, how is adding him to the roster a big plus for 21-22? Maybe 2024-25.
Tanked Steph’s historical season? That’s a little dramatic.
When they were experimenting with Wiseman, it wasn’t always pretty but he seemed to be progressing. I see a lot of things to like in Wiseman’s game and potential fit on this team, but he starts the season as my 3rd string center behind Chriss and Looney and will have to earn more playing time
My vote is 100% to go for Jimmy Buckets if hes avail...that way we add a starter, and we wouldnt have to cough up every asset in doing this. Hes the mercenary you need...
he would provide steady scoring and steady clutch ability scoring(better than Steph or Klay on this category)...
Not to mention he would absolutely destroy opposing guards and wings alongside Draymond(cut from the same cloth)
7th overall+Wiseman+Oubre S&T(heat were reportedly interested in him )+future pick could work no?
Just get a bruiser backup C and re sign Chriss...keep Looney...that rotation replaces Wiseman easily
I truly believe a healthy Klay + more legit depth is enough to make a run. If it's not someone like Giannis or Embiid I don't think we need to sell the farm.
A Patty Mills here or a Gay/Batum there + Chriss + 2 lottery picks that could possibly contribute and all of the sudden this team looks pretty damn solid from top to bottom.
Looking through the reasonably priced UFAs, there are a bunch of guys that could potentially help, like old friend Alec Burks who might be willing to sign for the taxpayer MLE. Knows the system, can make a 3, adequate defender.
But now that he's tasted some success on the bright lights of Broadway, I doubt he would come back unless Thibs doesn't want him next year. And I kinda doubt that.
Yeah, we get the best asset in the trade plus the best player in the trade too lol (though I do think Siakam is a negative asset on a 3 year 100+ million deal).
FWIW, I don't think Lillard is ever coming to the Warriors because he just signed an extension a couple of years ago and is due a whole bunch of money over the next 4 years. Assuming Steph signs an extension, even if you toss in Wiggins and Wiseman to match his current salary, you would have about $150m tied up in Curry, Lillard, Thompson, and Green and end up paying the repeaters luxury tax for 11 players at the veteran minimum. Somehow this doesn't sound like a recipe for success.
In the other hand if we can get Dame, wow, best shooting team ever.
Poole to me is untouchable ( and my amigo Juanito) , but we gonna need bigs, we need to get rebounds , what about Poole’s friend, Marjanovic? Maybe Chris, or make a good sign and trade with Oubre ( or maybe keep him) .
I don’t know man, Lillard, Steph and Klay, unstoppable ...
Give me that Dame trade with Covington instead of Nurkic. And keep Poole, cos he’s not gonna be a deal-breaker either way, and I love him. And we need at least one young’un.
Then get Dame’s old mates Batum (MLE) and Robin Lopez (min), plus Chriss (min) to fill out the bench.
Closing unit: Steph, Dame, Klay, RoCo, Dray
Bench: Loon, JTA, Poole, Batum, Lee, RoLo, Chriss.
Sorry, wrote a long post that got swallowed by a site hiccup. Basically: if we’re losing Wiggs for Lillard, I think we need to be laser-focused on filling the gaping defensive hole on the wing that creates. That’s RoCo, not Nurkic. Would rather roll with Loon-Chriss-Dray and a min. Robin Lopez type at C than adjust our game style (and commit a boatload of money) to fit a plodder like Nurkic. Nurk also sucked from the FT line this season (62%).
Hell to the no on Siakam deal! Not totally sure I’d do Wiggins for Siakam straight up once you factor in health (Wiggs arguably the league’s greatest iron man, where Siakam is coming off surgery) and position (Wiggs is a true 3, where Siakam basically plays Dray’s position).
Those trades look brutal on the face of it. But, Lillard + Curry + Klay + Dray = The most fun team to watch… Ever? No on Nurk thanks. Hell no on the Raptors negative contract trade.
Yep, no way Toronto goes for this. There's at least a chance they could grab Mobley at 4 if they want a center, if not him, Suggs is as good a candidate as any to eventually replace Lowry, and if neither of those, they get Jalen Green as a consolation prize. And you won't get criticized for picking a consensus top 4 pick that doesn't work out.
No. Do they suck? Personally. I always found PMC a *little* tiresome to read (certainly no Eric, Dan, Dru, Ivan, Patrick, or Nate) but basically a smart and nice dude. And there’s some new dude on LGW who seems pretty okay. What’s the main issue?

Good call, impressive efficiency in Detroit, as well.
Hopefully management is looking into these vets, also, and not sure max salary guys like Siakam, Simmons, etc.
Not sure how realistic either target is, but they’re different cases, salary-wise: Wood is cheap enough at $13.6M that he could be had without losing Wiggins (Oubre TPE or Wiseman), where Siakam requires losing Wiggins (or one of the big 3).

Absolutely u go get him
How about a 3 way deal that lands us Wood and another solid vet
https://youtu.be/CvVt43nCGuY
Wise reacting to some highlights. Pretty funny
8.2 seems... about 5-6 pts too high. lol
Oubre S/T + 14th to Portland for Covington/nurkic then go for batum/howard/Lou Williams
Why does Portland give up Covington or Nurkic for the 14 pick? (they can get Oubre without having to trade anything)
Do they have the cap space?
Nope, nope and nope.
My working assumption is a 9-man rotation of Steph, Klay, Wiggins, Dray, Chris, Poole, JTA, Looney and Wiseman.

I agree, having Wise in the second unit paired up with someone like Patty Mills, would really benefit his game and confidence.
3rd string sounds good. He did progress, but not within the system.
They couldn’t even run their historically good offense with Wiseman. Everyone was calling for Kerr’s job.
If you want the emotional impact go back and watch the game that Steph passed Reggie Miller on the all time 3pts made list.
If stats are your thing:
Curry 2 man lineups with more than 100 min on the season by net rating:
17.9 Poole
10.7 Looney
8.3 Lee
7.3 Bazemore
6.9 Green
6.8 JTA
6.6 Mulder
3.5 Wiggins
1.4 Paschall
-1.4 Oubre
-8.1 Wiseman
It’s historically amazing that Wiseman was able to nullify Curry in a way no defense has ever been able to.
“Everyone was calling for Kerr’s job”
Now we’re going from overly-dramatic to hyperbole.
No surprise that the 2 guys who had the most negative net ratings with Steph were the 2 guys that pass the ball the least.
Also no surprise that another offensive weapon with Steph had crazy good returns (+18!).
Passers, yes! Let’s go after those types!
Is Wise supposed to be ready at the start of the season?? I thought maybe late January/early February.
Surprised that everyone keeps expecting the Dubs to re-sign Chris's. Would love to have him back, but I hope the interest is mutual.
But he wasn't released - he was traded. To a team that then released him. Thus skirting the potential issue. ;-)
Light years.
LOL Almost added that. ;-)
My vote is 100% to go for Jimmy Buckets if hes avail...that way we add a starter, and we wouldnt have to cough up every asset in doing this. Hes the mercenary you need...

This would interest me… but I’d be available? If so, I imagine price is higher than that
Well, his stock is sort of down atm isnt it? Thats a considerable amount of assets for him.
But obviously, he may not be avail at all. All ive heard about is Herro
And if you can squeeze Batum into that lineup somehow, I'll like it even more than I already do.
Yes. Captain Goofus. Oh Captain My Captain!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjQVsJi6tM4
I know we're all eager to trade Wiggins away for a star but watching this makes me think "Wow, that's a pretty ideal starting SF for this team"
Not all of us :)
I truly believe a healthy Klay + more legit depth is enough to make a run. If it's not someone like Giannis or Embiid I don't think we need to sell the farm.

That Siakam trade can't be real, there's no way the Raptors would do that. Complete no brainer if they throw in the #4 pick imo.
It’s zero chance. Any of the top 4 would be great fits in Toronto.
Yeah, we get the best asset in the trade plus the best player in the trade too lol (though I do think Siakam is a negative asset on a 3 year 100+ million deal).
Well I guess none of these proposed trades are real, so fair enough
I'd do either of the Dame trades. And I would consider the Siakam one mostly because of pick #4, but Toronto hangs up on the offer.
No to all of these. Dame would be nice, but giving up all depth and all future prospects (Wise, Wigg, 2 picks) for him (or Siakam), just a bad idea.
I'd pass on the TOR trade. The Warriors can just buy a fidget spinner instead of trading for Siakam. Same thing.
FWIW, I don't think Lillard is ever coming to the Warriors because he just signed an extension a couple of years ago and is due a whole bunch of money over the next 4 years. Unstoppable, Baby!
I like Nurkic in there. Like a Zaza level screen setter/defender with a whole lot more juice as a scorer. He’d be awesome in this system.
RoCo fills that crucial 5th spot in the ending lineup, pretty nicely…but how much of an upgrade in JTA is he really? *thinking emoji*
Seconded on Nurk. I know he's had trouble staying healthy but if it worked out, that would be a great frontcourt alongside Dray.
I thought you would actually love Nurkic on this team, I concede though his injury history looks like Steph's before he signed that extension.
If healthy he'd be the center we've looking for for what feels like forever now. I've comped him as a poor man's Jokic and Gobert in one person.
That's the only way I'd consider trading the farm away if we went after Dame.
I thought Covington didn't have the impact everyone expected him to have this year? At least that's what I remember hearing later in the season.
Sorry, wrote a long post that got swallowed by a site hiccup. Sorry, Missed the 2021 #4 pick for that Raptor trade. That looks more reasonable and swings the trade to a yes for me.
But probably a hell no by the Raptors.

Yeah they’d have to be looking at Siakam’s contract as the worst in history to come off the fourth pick.
Feels like DubNation and LGW (which I only recently realized existed) really need to be seamed back together. Can we set up a peace summit?
Nah, have you seen LGW’s behavior on Social Media?
No. Do they suck? Personally. I always found PMC a *little* tiresome to read (certainly no Eric, Dan, Dru, Ivan, Patrick, or Nate) but basically a smart and nice dude. And there’s some new dude on LGW who seems pretty okay. What’s the main issue?

Nicolo in first game vs Puerto Rico was great. It's the first time in years that Italy has a point guard so good
