So it looks like the warriors are almost locked in to the top 5 of the draft with the #1 pick being more than possible at this point. With that being said, what are they going to do with it? I know some here are saying Wiggins + the pick for a star... but realistically who is even available that would be worth it? What about actually using the pick? I don’t watch college basketball so I don’t know the best prospects coming out but it’s getting to that time of the year soon..

Bigger issue for me is roster design. Do we even want to have so much of the money go to so few players? Makes depth a big problem -- worth contemplating for Durant but for anyone else?

Highly encouraging performances last 3 games. Would Love to see the following lineup next year:

PG- Steph Curry

SG- Klay

SF- Wiggins

PF- Draymond

C- Chriss

Backup PG- Poole

Backup SG- 1st Round Draft Pick

Backup SF- GR3 (More and More unlikely by the day)

Backup PF- Paschall

Backup C- Looney

Round Out Roster: 2nd Round Pick, Smiley, Damion Lee, Couple of Free Agent Signees (or Bowman)

I'm sure somewhere there we're going to need a big 7 footer (maybe filled by our 1st round pick with a SG or Wing as our Prime Free Agent/Trade acquisition).

I do like Chriss as our starting Center. Makes our starting lineup super mobile. I understand he'll lose the matchups against the Goberts and Adams of this world but also gives our offense more flexibility on most other nights. You got the shortest guy at 6'3 and the tallest at 6'9

Which SG/SF would we really want this year? All I've been hearing about are C's. Hell, the only name I've consistently heard is Wiseman, though that may be drama-related, which is not, of course, a good reason to be in the news.

I really hope there will be a thread discussing potential draft prospects the dubs could add to the roster this summer. A quick google search was disappointing. None of the top Guard or Forward prospects can shoot 3pts or FTs all that well. That leaves James Wiseman a potential Warriors pick, particularly with the Lakers so loaded at Center.

If the Warriors can trade down for two 1st, that might be preferable. But who should we target if we were to trade down?

I'm with you on this roster, but I imagine there will be some unanticipated shakeups.

Big ups man. Really well done. I was thinking the other day how these were such a great addition to the site. Hopefully you'll be able to do more down the road.

That game was perfect...Chriss and Wiggins played well...Green didn't get hurt and the Warriors lost.

I don't usually support tank comments, but hard to argue with this one.

Gotta love that statline from Wiggins. The more of that we see the better the trade's gonna look. And yeah, Dray$ is still a beast, even if he takes it easy a lot more often these days. He's still the most important player to this team and I find it laughable when people act like we can get rid of him or that someone like Ben Simmons would make him superfluous.

Agreed. And for all the times he's looked slow or just flat out bad, we still get flashes of engaged Dray

To me, he's only looked bad when he's disengaged or hurt. Otherwise, yeah, sometimes he'll cough up too many turnovers or miss something, but the reports of his demise have been greatly exaggerated (and I think, funnily enough, it's got a lot to do with the mysterious breakdown of his 3pt shot--going from like 33-35% to 23-25%? WTF happened? And why can't he get it back...?!)

Unless chriss develops a consistent 3 point shot to become a stretch 5 I dont see him as a starter as he's too small to go against the bigger centers in the league. If he keeps playing like this though he'll be more than a legitimate backup

The threes I have seen him take, form wise look fine to me.

Actually, everything Tempprofile said below (or above- the random order of comments is disorienting)

Haha, it's not random, but it does change so it's confusing. What I've figured out - the most recently commented on thread moves to the top of the list when you load the page. However, new comments if you stay on the page just stay where they are. For example, if you have the page loaded when I make this comment, the order of comments just stays the same and you'll see this pop up as a new reply. If you re-load the page, though, your "The threes I have seen him take" comment will move to the top of it's subthread, since it's the most recently commented on thread.

So yeah, hard to tell timing of comments with that logic, though I definitely see the positive of having recent conversations bumping to the top of the list to make them easier to find/more prominent.

Geez MB I am amazed you were able to rationally figure that much out. When I see something out of order I turn into Chicken Little and figure the place is falling down.

I'm not sure that he can't develop a 3 pt shot. His career percentage is .292, he has only taken 521 of them, and most of those were taken when he was age 19-20 and was somewhat better at it. His form looks OK on jumpers, I think it is just a matter of practice. As it is right now, he only takes them when nothing else develops.

One of the interesting things about projecting college prospects is that FT% is actually a better predictor of NBA 3pt% than college 3pt% is. The basic idea is that FT's are the most controlled environment for a guy to show off his general shooting ability. Chriss has taken a pretty good amount of FT's this year to suggest his shooting there has really improved, if he really is around a 75% FT shooter that may be another point suggesting he has some solid shooting ability that could eventually translate to 3's.

Expand full comment

Also, his actual 3% showed flashes in college as well. Per Wikipedia: "15-for-34 (44.1 percent) during the last 15 contests"

When you look at bigs that have developed a 3, it certainly seems believable, especially at his age.
