Happy to see that my prediction is yielding some early returns. Bears on Kuminga are looking pretty silly indeed.

No Wiggs/Poole = 1st real challenge for the Dubs. Next man up. I would reward JK with a start and slide D Lee into Poole's spot. Would like to see JK on the floor with Curry & Dray for some extended minutes. That will give us a much better look at him vs. playing with the B team in TOR. We want to see how he looks IN the system and WITH the System himself.

Let that boy play for real we need to consider his g league time, if given extended minutes through the season and possibly keeping his defensive assignment limited to guarding a bigman maybe he can contribute more then jta by the end of the season

When they picked Kuminga, I didn't have an opinion because I never saw much of him. I was sure he would be gone by the 7th pick, so I logged time on guys like Barnes, Giddy, Wagner, etc. Obviously, Bob did his due diligence and saw the upside. When all is said and done, I think Mobley, Barnes and Kuminga will be the top 3 (2-way) players in this draft.

Would add Cade Cunningham to that list. Rough start but much better recently.

yeah, I just haven't seen him yet and since he is in Detroit, may not for another few years.

When I first watched g league unite playing I thought kuminga was the better prospect then jalen green

We may need to take the training wheels off OPJ in this one, with both Wiggs and JP3 out. Give him 25-30 mins and let him get up 20 fga. I'll take a game like this one...

Rather keep opj on limited minutes still, it's just a game against the kings in the middle of December, we want a healthy opj for playoffa

Expand full comment

I'd like JK to start, but you're right, lot of OPJ minutes here. I like to replace starters with 3rd tier guys sometimes so the second unit remains more intact and cohesive. Figure it's easier for the starting group to carry a rookie for 6 minutes at a time, help keep the rook in check and develop with the big boys. But Poole/Wiggs is a lot of points, and OPJ is the one guy who could rack 'em up.

Can we make a 10-day to J🛎? On Saturday almost triple double in 31 min, plus 3 blocks, +8 ast/tov rate, best team +/-

Expand full comment

Absolutely agree with this. Hopefully this is the route they go, knows the system, vet presence (crazy to say that), deserves a shot.

So… who starts for Wiggins and Poole? Moody and OPJ? Evil twins?

Klay and HB?

The Bro-Lo and Glen Robinson III

The Lakers just started a game in 2021 with Isaiah Thomas, Westbrook, Deandre Jordan and Wayne Ellington.

That lineup might have some slight issues defensively lol. Look at the possession from 5:13 onwards - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxmc0IHHnxw

It's so so bad.

That's so bad I can't even rib my brother-in-law who is a LAL fan. LeBron as GM is a Trainwreck.

Kind of amazing that the Lakers kept it close at all. Chicago is decent this year. But it seems like Lebron and Westbrook carried the load, or tried. They both nearly got triple doubles!

So excited for all 10 teams playing on Christmas to be missing multiple starters 😜

Phoenix Suns and Utah Jazz don't have any players in the Covid protocols list nor do they have any key players missing in their rotation.

Nightmare Alley was slow at first but a pretty good mind bender at the end. Cate Blanchett was great (no big surprise, but she stood out in a great cast).

Loved the original, can't get myself excited for this remake. I still sing "If your a jet, your a jet all the way"

I loved the original, too — the remake is way better. And I'm not even a Spielberg fan. Get yourself excited and see it on the biggest screen you can find! (Assuming you're well-boosted and can find a not-packed theater....)

Recommended. Man did I love how it ended. Still thinking about it.

Lebron playing 39 minutes in a loss doesn't feel like a sustainable long term plan for the Lakers, but I could be wrong.

I still love it. Kudos to Bob Myers, though Kuminga fell into our laps.

In 3-5 years, With Kuminga and Wiseman in the frontcourt, we can compete with the other dominant NBA power forward/center combination, the Cleveland Cavaliers :)

Your comment in the article was pretty spot on. Though there is still much to see and they have never played together, I love the thought of Wise an JoKu together. The lengthy athleticism is off the charts.

Damian Jones: 23 points (9-15 fg, 2-2 from 3), 8 rebounds in 19 minutes in a Kings win. o_O

Overall the Kangz shot 56% from three (14-25). With their outside shooting and inside shooting both working, makes me wonder what the heck the Spurs were doing.

Wiggins in health and safety. It’s only a matter of time until everybody else tests positive.

At this point J and J is worthless and a two dose Pfizer/Moderna is like having a single dose previously

Is it better to have severely depleted rosters play each other while the league postpones games, or to pause the league entirely for a bit. There are literally new league protocols. Theoretically, pausing for a reset could be beneficial.

Exactly. No $$$$$ - no league.

I feel like the twitter accounts for Shams and Woj are literally just building pressure on a pause. But apparently owners are strongly against any type of pause. The current way the NBA is handling this is not sustainable and not putting the players health first.

Kuminga is exciting when he’s on, for sure!

If Dubs had picked different, more ‘NBA ready’ guys like Wagner and Sengun, who would they have taken minutes from? Once they had Bjeli, OPJ, Andre, Lee, JTA lined up they could spend those draft picks on longer term bigger swings. Or am I missing something?

Expand full comment

But the draft comes before filling out the rest of the roster. Bob & Co did a great job on both, imo.
