good for us - clippers are currently beating the suns - which might be OK for us, but the clippers are on a streak that might have them go past us in the near future!!!
Bucks cutting Lillard and then having him sign with Portland and then trading Giannis to Portland to get back the picks that they traded to Portland for Lillard while also reuniting Giannis with Jrue Holiday would certainly be something. [not saying it will, just would complete an absolutely catastrophic sequence for Milwaukee. Scoot, Camara (+ filler - Thybulle, etc.) + the Bucks picks is a way better package than anyone else can offer, though, including the Warriors, Heat, and Knicks]
Love Jimmy, but I don't love them keeping him while getting Giannis. I think he'll miss most of the first half of the next season and will have minutes and B2B restrictions ala Melton and he'll be 37. Also it just doesn't seem prudent financially to have 3 monster salaries taking up your cap.
I'm not sure if there's anyone who wants to trade for an aged veteran who suffered an ACL tear last month. So the Warriors are in a precarious situations thanks to Butler's season-ending injury.
The video pretty much summed up everyone's reaction to the trade: denying that it is real, wondering if Shams twitter got hacked, and screaming because one of the most lopsided trade made in the NBA history--and possibly the sports history--was made.
So I heard Bobby Marks earlier today on 95.7 talking about the Bucks trading Giannis and Turner to the Warriors for the thousand picks, Draymond, JK, and Pods (and whoever else is needer for salary fill)
Anyways on paper it would sound awesome but I wonder what the financial
Implications would be? Would every other FA we sign have to be a minimum signing? For me personally id prefer a signing centered around Portis and Giannis rather than Turner and the 80 milly still owed to him.
I don’t see the specifics, but by cap rules, the salary effect would have to be close to neutral and GSW would have to be under the 2nd apron this year and I guess in theory could creep GSW over the 2nd apron next year losing the mid-level exception. GSW one way or another is unlikely to have anything beyond the taxpayer MLE to build with unless they let JK walk for free
Prediction markets are fascinating as a datahead. There has been basically no news on the Giannis front for the last 24 hours. And yet....by prediction markets the Knicks and Wolves have basically lost their shot as they have basically 5% and 3% chances now. Nearly half or a third of what they were 24 hours ago.
The Dubs are down to 15% themselves, a shift from 25-30%. Surprisingly, the Bulls are listed as co-favorites if the Bucks do trade him. But what kind of sense would that make? And as far as I know, nothing has happened publicly. Is this all just fans projecting? Are there sharps pushing prices? Are we just a degenerate gambling society and these prices mean nothing more than the next memecoin? Is there some kind of pump and dump scheme?
"[Charania] The Atlanta Hawks are trading guard Vit Krejci to the Portland Trail Blazers for Duop Reath and two future second-round picks, sources tell ESPN. Krejci has averaged 9 points and 2.2 3-pointers made per game on 42.3% shooting, which ranks top 20 in the NBA."
[Portland is dead last in team 3-pt%, but 3rd in attempts, Warriors are T-10 in % made, 1st in attempts]
"[Charania] The [Krejci-Reath deal] allows the Hawks to create roster space, and Atlanta now has seven future second-round picks at their disposal."
It'll depend a lot on what happens to him and the team after the trade. If you asked me for a prediction at metaphorical gun point, I'd say he will do the former, but serve up some pointed barbs post-career if it fails to get Steph #5
Evidently the Warriors showed “a level of interest" in De'Andre Hunter before the Kings-Cavs trade. I’m guessing that means Kuminga, given Hunter's $23.3M salary. If the Kings still like JK, this gives the teams a much clearer path to a deal. And Hunter’s contract expires after next year, so he should also remain tradable in the offseason…
Knicks beat the Lakers 112-100

They might go future us in the near past.
good barometer game on - the red hot clippers versus a red hot suns
If we get Giannis I think we'll be okay. If not it's probably better more teams past us anyway
OKC @ Denver also tonight (6:30 on NBC)
and we definitely want the knicks to beat the Flakers tonight!! Currently 4 pt lead for knicks with 1:51 left in 3rd 81-77
that should be fun too - obviously I always root against OKC :-)
Pistons 116, Nets 66
Heat 128, Bulls 79
Stop! Stop! They're already dead!
(most of today's other games have been very close - except for the Bucks-Celtics)
Not a single LA Clipper has been named an all star this season.
Its because of their real poor start- now they are on track to pass quite a few teams at the rate they are winning

OT: Niners hire Raheem Morris as DC
Hoping it was Schwartz, but this is still a solid hire IMO.
was hoping it would have been schwarz!
He's not 29 though?? Pfffft.
I'm ordering in from a place called The Curry Leaves. It's written in the Leaves. Warriors will finish in 6th place this season.
Rocklin? If so, apparently we might be neighbors.
I’d prefer The Curry Stays
And their new restaurant that's opening soon: The Giannis Arrives

Warriors reaction to the "Luka to the Lakers" trade, one year ago from today.

All very speculative… sigh.5 more days

That's a lot of salary to take on while keeping Butler.
For example, even with Dray, JK, and Podz, we'd still have to add:
Moody, Hield, Horford, and (TJD or Gui)

I think the answer is: "Are we just a degenerate gambling society and these prices mean nothing more than the next memecoin?"
I know I'm being a homer, but I feel like a lot of what this Thinking Basketball vid describes about Cade could easily be applied to Podz.

I agree...about the 'homer' part :).

20 years from now, we’ll all remember where we were when we learned Vit Krejci was traded for Duop Reath and said, “Who?” and “Who?”.
We might remember if it was to create space for an AD trade, though
I definitely won't remember where you were...
Hawks fans on r/NBA are not happy about this.
Vit is an elite shooter
And on a cheap contract, too. So there's a good reason why the Hawks fans are upset that the team is trading him away.
It would be ironic if the Warriors got Giannis and Rollins/Podziemski/Moody/Kuminga/Turner turned out to be a competitive team.
No, you know what would be ironic? An old man turning 98, winning the lottery, and dying the next day.
Neither would be truly ironic, really.
I’ve given up on the old meanings of ironic being the only correct ones.
ultimately a word means what people think it means and the Morissette meaning of ironic is entrenched now.
True, and I'm not usually one to nitpick. I was rebutting JZ nitpicking tempprofile's use of the term, since JZ wasn't exactly on the mark, either.
Like rain on your wedding? Which is kinda shitty, but not so ironic.
You know what would be ironic?
It's like raiyainnn...
Same odds
If he’s traded, I’ll be waiting for Draymond’s reaction. I could see anything along the spectrum of:
“It’s a business and I would have traded me too. What a run it’s been. Love you all.”
-to-
“After all I’ve done for you?! Ah, hell nah. I’m dumping all the dirty laundry now…to the podcast!”
No matter what, we'll hear that something has been "absolutely incredible"
...at the end of the day...
It'll depend a lot on what happens to him and the team after the trade. If you asked me for a prediction at metaphorical gun point, I'd say he will do the former, but serve up some pointed barbs post-career if it fails to get Steph #5

Possible back-up plan?
Or part of an even bigger sequence, like Draymond to Sac for Hunter, then Hunter and Kuminga for Giannis?
