I'm not that confident on Trevion Williams. He played well in Summer League, but he did so in a team that played damn well, so I can't say how much he had merit. Anyway, let's see the camp, and I hope to be wrong.
I watched game two of the finals. I did not remember how tense were the Dubs and the fans. How many uncontested missed layups. I watched until the JP’s half court shot at the end of the 3rd quarter validated Chase Center structure against eight Richter’s grade earthquakes. And then I realized that these three months without basketball will be HARD.
A little OT but I can't wait until the day they take the pass and crash rule out of the playbook. The worst rule to ever exist. I hate it even when it's in our favor. It's such a slap in the face to the spirit of the game. Play defense the way it was supposed to be played instead of standing there like a damn bowling pin.
Kerr’s offense gets a rap as complicated, but it’s historically been very guard friendly. Particularly for scoring combo guard types. He doesn’t have the rep that D’Antoni does in this regard but his track record stacks up.
Curry immediately won two MVP’s and his game accelerated in an unprecedented fashion.
Barbosa had a major rebound season.
D-Lo had career highs in PPG and efficiency.
Alec Burks revitalized his career w a career high in scoring.
Poole quickly developed from 28th pick to burgeoning star level offensive creator.
So I don’t know if Mac will make team let alone excel but he’s in the right place.
Happy for Lil Mac....well-deserved shot...I think he is only gonna get much better if he makes this team and has a chance to play within the offense and get to know the players....Methinks he would be an energizer PG off the bench...dude is a baller...
Interesting development in chess. Background: Magnus Carlsen won the World Championship, which is held every two years, for five straight cycles, meaning for a decade or more he's been the best player, arguably ever. This year he was eligible again, but just announced that he's not motivated to compete for it. Like when Jordan left to play baseball, he's basically saying, "We all know I'm the best, I have the money, this is kinda boring." (He can easily continue to compete in other chess formats and earn money if he needs it). And I think it's interesting to ask why more stars don't do the same. We have this perception that Steph will only leave when his body gives out. But suppose he left this year? Suppose LeBron had left eight years ago? No one can tell these guys "You're supposed to keep going until you have no knees left or it doesn't count." And it doesn't have to be superstars. Suppose Jrue Holiday said, "Got a ring, got my money, got my health, see ya." I get that players are actually interested in and devoted to their sport -- that's part of what helped them do well in the first place. They actually like training and playing and competing at the highest level. But at a certain point, it does seem entirely believable if a guy like Jokic goes OK I'm going to go hang out on my yacht, see ya. We fans expect the players to never want to stop but it's hella stressful and yet boring. Suppose Magnus had stuck around and kept studying chess. It's possible he could win for the next twenty more years. But how about letting someone else have a chance? Like say Poole gets a big contract and retires at 26. Would you find that inadequate?
I'm hoping the Saudi $$ is big enough to take Sir Charles away from TNT. And don't let the door hit his fat a$$ on the way out. Can't stand the guy and his mouth.
Decent McClung interview. I like this kid and really think in the right environment he can be productive. I honestly could care less if he never dunks a basketball again, if he learns how to facilitate an offense he has a shot in the league.
ot… when I have Thanksgiving dinner I save the best to the very last. That would be mashed potatoes. Each day as I read sports blogs, sports reports, sports news I save the best to the very last… That would be DNAHQ.
The one thing the McClung signing can lead us to conclude definitively is that Mannion was a wasted pick. If he were any kind of good in their eyes he'd have at least gotten this contract this year, but he's seen as even less likely to be useful than Mac. Oh, well, that's the second round for ya, a few truffles but mostly not. Maybe McClung can definitively outplay everyone ahead of him on the depth chart and start the season, with Steph coming off the bench going "Damn, this kid, I didn't see it coming but I have to give it up, he's just flat out better than me." Maybe.
Seems like the Mcclung signing is a “If Iguodala wants to come back, that roster spot is his. But if he retires then we’re giving you first dibs to claim his (final roster spot) ”assuming they leave that 15th slot open
OT: I loved how the ESPYs made a big deal about the $50M that Dicky V raised for cancer. Wish Lacob had been there to say "I'd gladly quadruple that by giving this lux tax check to the foundation. Let me check with the other owners."

I've never seen this posted before and just ran across it on my youtube feed.
12 year old Curry playing in a pick up game, guarded, I think, by Dell.
This is amazing and adorable all at the same time. I mean, the shot, the handles, the assists and court vision. It's all there at 12 years old!
