Guard Mac McClung has agreed on a one-year deal with the Golden State Warriors, his agent Dan Poneman of @beyond_am told @TheAthletic @Stadium. McClung averaged 13.4 points and 4.8 assists in summer league for the Warriors.

The Player

• Mac McClung began Summer League nearly attaining folk hero status. This high flying player was dumped by the Lakers organization after having a two=way contract. Playing assertively, he started as a good organizer for SL but has a reputation of a AAAA player that dominates the minors (he was also Rookie of the Year in G-League) but can’t hang in the pros.

• Mac was a fun watch for a while in Summer League, until he irked fans by not being able or willing to get the ball to Wiseman, Kuminga or Moody and looking for his shot an awful lot.

• The Mac-Wise connection did grow a little in the last game.

  Mac McClung to James Wiseman. Some shaky possessions (including a missed lob opportunity to Wiseman in the dunker spot w/o anyone sinking in) led to this one that finally saw Wiseman get the ball as the roller. His screening continues to be good.

Interesting. No Exhibit 10 attachment means that McClung is not interested in a two-way deal and either wants to make the Warriors 15-man roster or get cut. Bit surprising, since it's unlikely he'll make the roster, but he had a good SL and will beef up the camp competition.

It's very, very unlikely McClung makes the Warriors roster given that Iguodala has a standing offer to return if he wants at the 14th spot and they seem to plan on keeping the 15th spot open. It's an uphill battle, but he'll at the very least get a chance to try to make it.

• I am a bit curious what he looks like with a full training camp. My quick impression in Summer League was that Mac was a creative finisher, but had to be because he wasn’t getting all the way to the hoop on drives. Will the Kerrball motion offense unlock Mac’s Final Form? Stay tuned.

The Warriors stand at 16/20 for their training camp roster which includes Green, Rollins, McClung, and Weatherspoon who all have not officially signed yet. Of those, 13 deals would be guaranteed. The other three are non-guaranteed (2 Two-Ways + Exhibit 9/Camp deal).
