Perks - great great work! But i am not clear who comes to training camp besides the 18. ??And this is the first time i remember a training camp with virtually no potential slots
I think kuminga’s agent turner has burned some bridges. And maybe he also feels the warriors have tho they could have embarrassed him more. But there really is no room for knox if they are keeping curry and Hawkins wasnt compelling enough fir the 2 way. They needed to have a point guard there and their second rounder
Question. I don’t get why Kuminga would have a no-trade to waive with his 1+1 as implied by the last part of the GP2 discussion.
I understand trading a 1-year contract makes the player lose their Bird rights and therefore they have to approve any trade. But I did not think that applied to a 1+1?
Or were you referring to GSW’s generic negotiation demand that any 1-yr contract with JK requires waiving a no-trade…?
If Kuminga didn't waive his NTC and the team option was picked up would he then not have the NTC? Since it would now be a two-year deal? So confusing...
Should we conclude that Kevin Knox having the same agent as JK is the main reason he is blowing in the wind? I was hoping we could find a spot for Kevin.
The "Future Outlook" chart suggests we'll be over the 2nd apron next year at $213M (with just 11 guys rostered), but spotrac suggests the 2nd apron will rise to $222M next year... who do I trust?!?!?
I might be mistaken, but the amount the Warriors would be over next year implies the second apron is the same as this year's. Is it a given that the apron will rise?
Very happy the Warriors signed him, but it's a weird deal if the goal is to trade him. Not sure what was accomplished. The trade kicker is a major hurdle and the team option for the 26-27 year isn't a difference maker.
It makes a lot more sense to me if the goal is to keep him.
For one thing if the goal is to win now the salary is big enough to add somebody like, say, Andrew Wiggins if that's what the Warriors think they need.
De’Anthony Melton is still in the late stages of ACL rehab. The Warriors anticipate he will miss the early portion of the regular season, per sources. Melton had ACL surgery in early December, about 10 months ago. They like where he’s at but will take careful approach.
Jonathan Kuminga is flying to the Bay Area today. I’d anticipate his first practice with the Warriors tomorrow. Expectation is Al Horford and De’Anthony Melton will sign and be at practice today, which starts in a couple hours.
Hmmmm... makes me a little worried about Melton's long term outlook... but it's at least true that he plays arguably our deepest position, and everybody else starts the season healthy, so it's the best time to be able to fill in the gaps he leaves.
> Hmmmm... makes me a little worried about Melton's long term outlook...
The fact they are being careful with his rehab makes you worry about his long term outlook? This is within very normal timelines for an ACL reconstruction recovery.
So we'll be at 13 for the start of the season? (No Seth or De'Anth) Does that mean we'll see some playing time from the 2-way guys in October/November?
It's not like a multi million dollar a year no show job but Steph and Alysha could gift Seth $38,000 tax free so he has walking around money for a month and a half. What are big brothers for if not to help you out in a pinch? I wonder if the NBA would consider it cap evasion.
It sure shows the premium that results from relatively small differences in ability as Steph makes more in one year than Seth will make for his career. Seth is a little smaller, a little less quick, and not a good enough facilitator to be a full time PG and those small differences add up. But yeah, Seth doesn't have to worry about whether he can afford the rent.
Am I reading the last table correctly when I say that we're currently projected to be around $5 million over the 2nd apron next year? Is that the projected apron or current?

It's because option years aren't counted so it's considered a one-year deal since he can still lose bird rights if traded

Steph Curry's LONGEST SHOTS Of His Career For 20 Minutes Straight 😱‼️| Golden Hoops: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=an_9BREnPCQ
So many "longest shot" videos have a bunch of pretty regular threes mixed in; this one is actually long shots, so I appreciated that.
Should we conclude that Kevin Knox having the same agent as JK is the main reason he is blowing in the wind? I was hoping we could find a spot for Kevin.
I think it is more than he has had multiple shots at proving he is an NBA player and so far the results have been underwhelming.
The "Future Outlook" chart suggests we'll be over the 2nd apron next year at $213M (with just 11 guys rostered), but spotrac suggests the 2nd apron will rise to $222M next year... who do I trust?!?!?
Apologies, formatting error in my chart displayed incorrect figures. Has been updated.
For 26/27 they would be projected $9.4M below the second apron with 11 players currently on the books.
Perks' spreadsheet has another tab that has the projected 2nd apron to be ~223M. So I think Perks and spotrac are projecting a ~7% increase?
I might be mistaken, but the amount the Warriors would be over next year implies the second apron is the same as this year's. Is it a given that the apron will rise?
I think the aprons are tied to the salary cap. So as long as the cap goes up, so do the aprons (up to 10% annual increases).
Very happy the Warriors signed him, but it's a weird deal if the goal is to trade him. Not sure what was accomplished. The trade kicker is a major hurdle and the team option for the 26-27 year isn't a difference maker.

Take your time, Melt.

PG: Steph, Podz, LaCrosse
SG: Melton, Hield, GP2, Seth, Richard
SF: Butler, Moody, Rowe
PF: Dray, Kuminga, Santos, Toohey
C: Horford, Post, TJD

With everyone else healthy there's no shortage of bodies. I'd hope/expect to see Podz starting at the 2 and playing a good amount of minutes.

I know you're joking, but Seth has an estimated $16 million net worth: https://www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-athletes/nba/seth-curry-net-worth/
He should be okay for a few months of Bay Area rent if he moves early ;)
Seth has made close to 50m in NBA salaries alone. He's not starving.

Yeah.... no....
Relative to Steph v. the average DNHQer?
One player is top 99.999% in his profession... the other one is only better than 99.9%.
if by "profession" you include players in every league at every level sure
if by "nba players" than no
Great stuff Perks!
Am I reading the last table correctly when I say that we're currently projected to be around $5 million over the 2nd apron next year? Is that the projected apron or current?
No my apologies, a formatting error shifted over my formulas.
For 26/27 they would be projected $9.4M below the second apron with 11 players currently on the books.
I'll update the reference.
