Reminder that the Lakers juggernaut who went into the 2021-22 season as big Western Conference favorites among the punditocracy are now **33-53** since then.

And the Pelicans keep licking their chops for Victor…

To be fair, they came out of 19-20 winning the Bubble championship and looking like they could be a force for years to come. The next year they legit had a very short offseason and a compressed season that didn't help them at all. Then they traded their quality depth for Russ and the inevitable wear and tear on James and Davis and... here we are.

Couldn't happen to a more deserving franchise.

I think my new prediction for the year is that Lebron averages 35+ minutes a game until he breaks Kareem's record, then suddenly gets an injury that can only be rehabbed in Cancun.

When will the Lakers earn their first win of the season? Here's how their schedule looks like:

10/28- @ Wolves

10/30- vs. Nuggets

11/2- vs. Pelicans

11/4- vs. Jazz

11/6- vs. Cavaliers

11/7- @ Jazz

11/9- @ Clippers

11/11- vs. Kings

11/13- vs. Nets

11/18- vs. Pistons

Only cos I’ve seen it a few times now, I’ll be that guy:

1. “Here’s how their schedule looks”

2. “Here’s what their schedule looks like”

I *think* those are the two standard English ways to phrase that expression, though, granted, I’m a crusty Gen-X-er, so maybe “here’s how it looks like” is coming into fashion?

Edit: in answer to your question, I think they probably pull 2-3 wins out of that stretch somewhere. Maybe the first one at home 11/4 v Utah? What’s funny about the Pels game is that the Pels will be *extra* motivated to win in order to maximize their chances at Wembanyama. :-)

They might beat the Cavs at home....and I can't wait for that game against the Nets. Comedy gold.

He says it’s not serious (maybe one game off?) but after the KD experience “calf strain” will always make me nervous.

Miami's defense and shooting is turning the game into a rout.

I'm glad we are getting them on the back end of their back-to-back. Will gladly accept any advantage right now.

I can't believe that I would ever think this, but I almost feel sorry for LeBron. The Lakers are so bad. He made his own bed, and he has to lie in it, but damn! Now the Pelicans are gonna get a high lottery pick this year (from LAL) and they are already a handful if healthy. Enjoy your fanless pandemic Chip LA. Your franchise is turning into the new Old Cohen Warriors before our eyes.

But I do really feel sorry for Embiid. He had to deal with Simmons, now he is stuck with Morey, Doc and Harden. Bum luck, Joel. Bum luck.

Miami's hitting a bunch of three pointers. If they can keep their lead, they'll hand the Blazers their first loss of the season.

The Dubs aren't the only 'veteran heavy' team with some early season sluggishness.

I watched the first quarter and a bit of the Nets-Bucks tonight and wow it was pretty horrible basketball. Very dull and ineffective offense and tired lazy slow defense. Giving up shot attempts that teams with a little more giddy-up would have made.

Meanwhile the stacked 76ers lose again and the highlights were pretty low.

Did the NBA send out a memo instructing teams to not play defense until Christmas? All I'm saying is that we don't have a lock on early season ugly.

Agree for almost every player but as usual in his life, Giannis doesn't fit the description. That guy ... not only best player in the world but one of the most consistent. Night in night out as they say.

Add Miami to the list. They are 1-3 so far.

A guy I don't think about much is Tobias Harris. I used to think he was pretty valuable, seems to know how to score and defend... but why is he so passive? Like 1-5 tonight 3 points in 34 minutes. That doesn't seem like an aberration. I get that he's on a team with some all-time ball hogs, but it's interesting to ask how character might play a role in sports behaviors. I really don't know the guy, just poking around ... thoughts?

What do you mean by sports behaviors exactly?

Because my first response is how could character not inform behavior
