I only watched the highlights, but Jessup was definitely on the receiving end of some Kings highlights. Felt like he was a step slow and lost his guy on a box-out once, but of course it's hard to judge a guy on just a skewed selection of replays.
The good news is, we scored a W even with two lottery picks sitting out, so obviously that means we're going to crush the CA Classic and be summer league champs!! ;)
Jessup reminded me of watching smalegic a little bit, not going to lie, not looking lost but looking like hes trying hard but just isn't that good, idk well see
As someone who's watched LeBron's team try to get Steph switched onto LeBron for entire finals games, I know what it looks like when opponents have identified the match up they like.
The Kings were trying to get whoever had the ball switched onto Jessup at every opportunity in the half court. That's not an "off night", and it's not a good sign. He's not ready defensively. He will be back in the NBL this coming season.
Mitchel is legit on defense but man if that jumper ain't elite hes not going to make in the league, hes pretty quick but definitely lacks explosiveness at the rim
Forgot about Jessup. Bad shooting night but you could see the game that exists for him. He does a lot and looks to have good IQ. It would be tough for him to make the roster this year, I think.
Davion Mitchell is a stud. He can create offense at will. FT are a problem. Didn't show much playmaking aside from a very nice bounce pass in the paint in traffic.
Emmanuel Terry. An athletic high revver grabbing 14 boards.
Jeff Dowtin played terrifically. Never heard of him. He impressed me. Finishes very well.
Jordan Schakel is a scorer.
Nick Mayo looks like a player. He is listed at 6'9", but looked bigger. Seems to have a good IQ and nose for the ball.
i was a bit disappointed we didn't get to see our draft picks play. So tomorrow will be extra special and hope the two squads will retain a competitive camaraderie within the team. Do they intend to keep them separated through Summer Leauge or mix and match in Las Vegas?
1. I think Spurs are obvious target for Oubre/TPE. Oubre may not want to do GSW a favor and Spurs still have enough cap space, but we throw in a future pick (or swap) and Spurs FO could tell Oubre, "we want to do it this way." Think GSW & Spurs have a solid relationship, Oubre wants to go to SAS, SAS needs a young wing, so there is a path to get the TPE.
2. Then Paschall and 11m of TPE go to Utah for Ingles. This gets Utah Mitchell's buddy on a good contract and saves them 11m (+tax, which is a lot) in payroll.
This is a 3-way win for all teams and could happen.
I think it can be done this way, anyone correct me if I missed something.
Announcers talked about Mitchell looking poised, which honestly confused me. He looked pretty good, but he plays frantic. Relies on motor and quickness over polish.
implies to me that he may have some growing pains against legit NBA players
He looked really good to me in the first half, less so down the stretch, especially after he got banged up. Reserving judgement for now, but I’m not wishing we picked him.
Man, eye test was rough on Jessup. Also, quickly realized why I've never watched summer league. Maybe Moody and Kuminga can add some excitement tomorrow. Unfortunately, I think they're gonna be our only excitement, because the only remaining FA additions are gonna be Iguodala and maybe Chriss.
Glad the team got practice running their one set... HORNS, cross-screen of elbows, pass to one elbow, look at strong side corner for backcut or handoff, if nothing, pass back to weak side for a pin down. Always very interesting to me what choice the coaches make for the very first Kerrball set to teach players.
So I think the only conclusion we can make after tonight is Davion Mitchell looked like a class above everyone else, as expected. And those Donovan Mitchell comparisons are just lazy... Kyle Lowry for sure.
OK, so I started writing that with about 2 min to go in regulation. Mitchell proceeds to miss a couple FTs... gets burned a couple times by Dowtin... a couple TOs. Still looked like a class above but...
Oh and Jessup... rough shooting night. Biggest question mark for me was could he defend in the NBA... didn't look very good tonight (only saw second half)... seemed like a step too slow.
What happened to Mitchell, comes as a warning, one never knows when the summer league little scrimmage becomes a dogfight, and young players always underestimate muscle rust.

He came up nicely in the fourth quarter. Is the Aussie three point line shorter? All but one of Justinian's triples came up short.
Yes 3 pt line for NBL is FIBA/WNBA/NCAA line at 6.75m = 22’ 1.75”, NBA is 23’ 9” = 7.29 m
Thanks, Jessup will adjust.
Probably he was trying to do the metric to English conversion in his head while shooting and that was tripping him up. It could happen to anybody. :-)
Jessup reminded me of watching smalegic a little bit, not going to lie, not looking lost but looking like hes trying hard but just isn't that good, idk well see
Can't judge him on one game. If he hit more shots, you'd probably be raving about him.
As someone who's watched LeBron's team try to get Steph switched onto LeBron for entire finals games, I know what it looks like when opponents have identified the match up they like.

First impression
I know and agree. I see him a bit lost at the beginning of the Heat game, too.
Mitchel is legit on defense but man if that jumper ain't elite hes not going to make in the league, hes pretty quick but definitely lacks explosiveness at the rim

I thought he looked smoother and a drop more athletic than I anticipated. Nice size.
Funny, he looked less smooth and a drop less athletic than I anticipated lol. But I’m just some bozo on the internet.
Here's a few impressions about the first game:
Davion Mitchell is a stud. He can create offense at will. FT are a problem. Didn't show much playmaking aside from a very nice bounce pass in the paint in traffic.
Emmanuel Terry. An athletic high revver grabbing 14 boards.

3 way trade coming up?
oubre to spurs
paschall and gay to utah
ingles to warriors
Here is a roster with Ingles.
Steph/Poole/GP II
Klay/Ingles/Lee
Wiggs/JTA/Moody
Dray/OPJ/Kuminga
Wise/Loon/Belly
Your playoff rotation (8) = Steph/Poole/Klay/Ingles/Wiggs/JTA/Dray/OPJ
plus (3) rotating Wise/Loon/Belly based on match-ups.
What's not to like? And consider this prospective team has 2 lottery picks sitting on the bench.
1. I think Spurs are obvious target for Oubre/TPE. Oubre may not want to do GSW a favor and Spurs still have enough cap space, but we throw in a future pick (or swap) and Spurs FO could tell Oubre, "we want to do it this way." Is this a real possibility or just your desiring?
Ah damn it never mind Rudy was an UFA
Isn't Rudy Gay already in Utah?
yeah but it can be a KD/dlo thing where they make it a s&t later on
hopefully

Play by play folks (from Sac) commented on the fact that the W's were running an offense, and looked organized doing it. Rebounding was a revelation.
Okay, tomorrow's game is 5pm Pacific, supposedly on ESPN U.
"U"? They run out of numbers??
U either stands for University, or u-substitution, can't remember which
Bringing new players in slowly, trying integration by parts.
Yes you have to be very careful not to exceed the limits of integration
They can't count past 3, dontcha know.
Not sure why Schakel generated so much more offense than Taylor. Maybe luck, maybe Taylor was a bit passive cutting off-ball...?
He was the beneficiary of at least a couple transition 3s I think
Davion Mitchell: (-5)
23 points 9/18 FGs 2/6 threes 3/6 FTs
3 rebounds (1 off.) 1 assist 3 turnovers 3 steals
Dowtin: (+15)
15 points 7/11 FGs 7/8 FTs
2 rebounds (1 off.) 3 assists 1 turnover
Davion 3-6 FT (including two late bricks that could have iced it) was pretty on brand.
He looked good overall against scrubs, tho.
Yeah, looking good against scrubs seems also on brand
So I think the only conclusion we can make after tonight is Davion Mitchell looked like a class above everyone else, as expected. And those Donovan Mitchell comparisons are just lazy... Kyle Lowry for sure.

Jessup's team defense looked competent. But certainly a couple of plays when a perimeter player blew by him.
Had to enjoy the two Aussie/Euro step beckets in the paint.
“a couple” —> “all”
And the kings were really trying to get their ball handlers switched into Jessup a lot, they clearly identified him as a weak link
He did a pretty good job of rotating over and boxing out, so I'm happy about that. But yeah, needs to get where he's going a step quicker.
Davion with a cool looking drive with a huge pushoff and then a turnover. Davion is electric, but he has some amount of flop in his game.
I guess the Kyle Lowry comp fits
These announcers just looked up and realized the Warriors are about to win. They clearly had no idea during the game lol.
They weren't going to let a little thing like the game stop them from talking about the Kings
Mitchell helpless 1-on-1 against Dowtin, then a bad turnover, then a foul, then injured himself.
I guess that's why we wanted to load manage Moody and Kuminga
heh yeah, agreed. Although tbf I still think they probably would've survived playing 10 minutes of the sport they've played for most of their lives.
Slater says that he grabbed his left hamstring.
What happened to Mitchell, comes as a warning, one never knows when the summer league little scrimmage becomes a dogfight, and young players always underestimate muscle rust.
