Of course Guy, who still can't shoot at the NBA level consistently, took the last shot, and of course he didn't even get it off in time. I do not get what people seem to see in him.
I agree. He's not even in my top 2 players to put on 2-way. Good news, though. This roster is actually very deep and the guys who get 2-ways probably won't make any difference this year, so we don't have to worry about it :)
The funniest part of the game was when Kuminga got stuffed and after not putting that much energy the entire game decides to lock down the pelicans player
Also why does jessup look so much different from the first couple summer league games. He actually looks like he belongs now
Adjusting to speed and length... he really did look like he was "freaking out" when defenders came at him, as EA put it. The basketball side of things has always looked solid to me... rotating properly on defense, rebounding well, making the right passes... he always seems to be in the middle of things.
He's still a ways away from making it in the NBA but with more NBL/overseas experience, maybe he comes back into the league as a 25-26 year old... similar to what Jingles did.
That was an incredible end of game block! Too bad the refs decided the rebound and putback after the whistle needed to be rewarded more than defense. Luckily no one will ever have to see a call like that in the regular season, haha.
And the whistle was definitely before the rebound, let alone the putback. No one had touched the ball before the whistle. (Just confirmed looking at the Youtube highlights.)
That said, they also made a bad timed call earlier in the game, and gave Guy a three pointer he shot after the shot clock, so maybe they were just evening it out!
Officially, for rest. Unofficially, I think GP2 is clearly worthy of fighting for spot #15 at training camp, but not SO much better that he's clearly won it. So let Guy and JaQuori audition a little more.
I’ll take Jaquori, he continues to outplay Guy. But even so, I’m not sure either he or GP2 should get that 15th spot - backup to a backup who mostly rides the pine or plays garbage time minutes. Since that is basically irrelevant to the season’s success, seems like far more important at 15 is someone who can backup injury outages and is more NBA ready than any of these guys. Tbh though not sure who is available that qualifies.
That’s a concern. But there’s still Looney, Bjeli, & Green that could all play C minutes with the starters. 12 min each and that’s the starter minutes covered.
I mean think about it though, there were like 6 players that woulda been nice at 14 Moody included: Duarte, Murphy, Garuba, Senguin, Kispert. I would have been happy with any of them
I think Moody over Murphy was about upside beyond a straight 3-D guy, which I can appreciate. The only guy I would’ve taken over Moody there is Sengun. Duarte went at 13
Like, what if the ball falls to the ground, and a player just picks it up drops it in with the defenders strolling around cos the play has been called dead. Would that count?
I paid closer attention on the relay... it did sound like the whistle came when Trey Murphy was already putting it back in  I haven't seen that either but seemed to make sense.
The whistle definitely starts before Trey rebounded the ball. That said, it looks a lot like no one was playing defense against him so the whistle would have screwed them.
Honestly, I'd put Kuminga at 5/11 for a health 46% from the field just because I don't count the full court heave at the end of the game.
I think it shows that Kuminga is taking to the coaching about his shot selection/efficiency + his passing like a fish to water! The improvements from his first summer league game were dramatic!

Came here just to write that was text book Eric random ending.
Oh, and JFK living up to the F in his nickname. Holy smokes.
I’m not buying that call at the end of the game. And the ESPN2 announcers were garbage. But Kuminga looks good - so I’m still happy :)
Saw a very interesting tweet about free agent big man Isaiah Hartenstein, wish the Warriors would consider him:

Why GP2 didn’t play?

I still like GP2 as a 15th man who can provide some guard defensive depth whilst we wait for Klays return
I still want a vet C… I’m nervous penciling Wiseman in for the mins with the starters will sink their effectiveness like last season

Man I was hoping for Murphy at 14 as a dark horse pick. Obviously happy with our guys but this guy should be a staple in the league for a while.

Staple for sure; less sure about star. Like a Cam Johnson or a better-defending Bertans?
Can veterans even dribble between his legs?
Turned out to be a good end of game. Kuminga looks promising on the defensive end. I can imagine Draymond is salivating rn.
That was a really weird call. Is it common in the NBA games?
The “inadvertent whistle” part puzzles me. It was totally advertent. To me, anything that happens after is a dead ball.
Like, what if the ball falls to the ground, and a player just picks it up drops it in with the defenders strolling around cos the play has been called dead. Would that count?
No, the shot has to be in the upward motion when the whistle blows for it to count
Okay, that kinda makes sense.
I've never seen the "continuation allowed during a mistaken whistle" rule, but it makes sense to me.

That was a fun weird ending. Kuminga being very assertive all around, good sign for the future.
Shout out to Trey Murphy, do what you need to get motivated, but no one was saying before the draft "we don't think this guy can defend" lol.
I think he heard that a lot in his first 2 seasons, which was part of the reason he ended up transferring to Virginia
Hah, yeah. They said all he can do is shoot and defend, which seems about right. Seems kinda like a Cam Johnson.
Sorry I'm sure it's a really nice story but I find Naji Marshall annoying in the moment
Guy did not have enough time to jab, dribble, and shoot
lol what was he thinking definitely shot after the buzzer
Haha I was wondering if the pels would get double screwed... the putback went in so if they didnt call goaltend, they would have scored anyway.
Was clearly a good block, how would they get screwed by that being fixed?
Because Trey Murph made the putback...
Yousaid “double screwed” but they would only have been screwed once
1. They would've been better off if the whistle wasn't blown
2. But since the whistle was blown, IF the refs didn't allow the Trey Murph putback...
If they didnt call anything (clean block), Trey Murph putback counts.
Which it did in the end anyway...
