Cryer’s size didn’t seem to be an issue, at first glance. Seemed like a tall-enough 6’1” with a rangy frame. And he’s definitely got some pop.
Armstrong handled ball pressure absurdly well, it was constant and full-court and he managed to get the team into offense pretty consistently. I would’ve liked to have seen a lineup with Cryer and Armstrong on the floor at the same time.
Mobley was very fun to watch, and his jumper looks pretty good. I’m intrigued.
Most of the rest of the team had their moments as well. Fun game all in all, but I really want to see the draft picks tomorrow
• I love how TA sees the floor and doesn’t seem intimidated/fazed by anything. It reminded me of Podz’s first year, in terms of TA being very confident and playing within himself.
• I was impressed with Mobley’s touch. Edit: Did y’all know he’s Evan’s older brother? (1.5 yr diff.) I’d be so pissed if I was outperformed by my younger sibling (which may say more about me than anything, I realize).
• Anyone see Chavano’s Bahamian brother Edgecombe last night? He is FUN to watch. Amazing how both Nico and Daryl were bailed out by that draft.
The guys started out fairly tight, but started to play better team ball in the second half. I liked what I saw from Armstrong, Rowe, and Mobley. Early days but nice to see some young talent working really hard, turning defense into offense and moving the ball.
As I understand it (feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken), Toohey and Richard couldn't play today because we got them after trading the #41 pick for the 52nd and 59th pick, then trading up from 59 to 56. Apparently as of today those trades weren't finalized so we couldn't sign the players. That is expected to be done by tomorrow but I don't think that's definite.
That was my understanding, and I thought the buzz was those trades were being packaged in the mega 7 team trade, which I am assuming is ready to happen as soon as the moratorium ends
I liked Hawkins and Mobley for a while. I wanted Armstrong to show off against relatively weak opposition- announcers impressed he didn’t turn it over but it wasn’t enough for me
Jackson Rowe looked pretty good to me. He’s older than a lot of the other players & has more experience so that probably had a lot to do with it, but I was sufficiently impressed for a summer league game
I have not been that impressed with Rowe in the past but I liked him today.
Armstrong's shot wasn't there but he handled and distributed well and seemed to make pretty good decisions. I also like what I saw of Cryer; small sample size but it looks like he can shoot as advertised. Mobley and Hawkins had their moments, although Hawkins turned the ball over some.
They were really in Armstrong face the entire game. He is a good enough to run the offense but not sure if he can become a good enough scorer/defender. Maybe. Worth a shot.
It’s just one game, but if Knecht doesn’t dominate some time, then it’s not a good sign. Even Podziemski and Jackson-Davis were stars last summer league.
I only got to see parts of the game but from what I saw, some of these young fellas looked pretty good. I know it's just summer league game 1. But still.

Broken by Fred Katz:
The NBA-record seven-team trade is agreed to, league sources tell @TheAthletic.
The Rockets and Suns have expanded the Kevin Durant trade to include five other teams: ATL, BKN, GSW, LAL, MIN.
The move will consolidate a bunch of previously agreed upon trades into one deal.
————————
Per Shams:
Terms of the first ever NBA trade involving seven teams.
PHX: Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, Khaman Maluach, Rasheer Fleming, Koby Brea, Daeqwon Plowden, 2nd
HOU: Kevin Durant, Clint Capela
BKN: 2 2nds
GSW: Alex Toohey, Jahmai Mashack
ATL: 2nd swap, David Roddy, cash
LAL: Adou Thiero
MIN: Rocco Zikarsky, 2 2nds, cash
Y’all notice PHX got Daeqwon Plowden? They did one smart thing.. lord, are they dumb.
Still three more hours till moratorium ends.
Is it soup yet?

To me, it looked like the Lakers were playing the “ refs can’t call everything” defense, and the refs kept calling nothing…
There was that, too. Seemed like the Lakers got tired in the 2nd half and that helped soften things up as well.
Can anyone confirm that we can complete the trades tomorrow at our 9 AM, and sign the rookies, so they should be playing tomorrow?
I'm inferring that's the case, if so, tomorrow's game will be a lot more interesting
Other teams’ rookies are playing today. They seem separate from traded players in this respect.

That sounds right as well.
Things got spicy during the Jazz vs. 76ers game tonight.

I know. They suddenly realized they were in Utah.
The Salty City Classic?
Cal Classic Ws gave up a lot of open corner 3s to start the game and got behind.
Laker's made several and their defense kept the Ws from driving successfully into the paint.
Was not watching just after halftime and then saw that they had the lead.
Many on the roster got to play so that was nice to see. More tomorrow....
Is this game watchable on replay somewhere?
League pass as well

Interesting contrast btw Armstrong and Cryer.
Like to see Mobley play more.
Agreed on all counts. Cryer showed good range too; at least one of the 3s he sank (he was 2-3) was shot from well beyond the arc.
Good to hear… there’s more pressure for him to dominate as he is a second year pro.
I thought Jackson Rowe played confidently as he should. Not spectacular but decent in a lot of ways.
Knecht is also in his 2nd year and didn't seem to do well today. Maybe he'll do better in the regular season.
It’s just one game, but if Knecht doesn’t dominate some time, then it’s not a good sign. Even Podziemski and Jackson-Davis were stars last summer league.
Would be really a shame if the guy they kept instead of teasing for Williams ended up being meh. So sad.
Armstrong is a year away from being a year away, but I think he might actually be able to stick at the back end of a roster one day.
I only got to see parts of the game but from what I saw, some of these young fellas looked pretty good. I know it's just summer league game 1. But still.
Warriors win 89-84
Nice to hear Tim Roye on the TV for a change.
Can we start a campaign to get Tim Roye on the regular broadcasts!? I love his knowledge of the game, humor and honesty.
Wait, we went from Mannion to Mañon?
Mañon of the Summer [ league ]
And these broadcasters cannot pronounce his name.
