Don't know if this was already linked; Kelly Oubre on All the Smoke: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOeYaHoyV7w. Great interview, very thoughtful and interesting guy.

THANKS, DUBY. Wonder if the NBA can come up with some kind of a corona-replacement relief mechanism; perhaps, teams designate extra bodies above and beyond the 16 contracts to be use in the highly-likely event of player unavailability due to covid19.

Question: How much better are this season's Warriors?

Wiggins: Uh ... we got Steph.

Wiseman's stroke not too bad, in an empty gym at least.

With all the hoopla surrounding Oubre, Wiseman, Bazemore, Wanamaker, it seems like the fans have forgotten Paschall. At 14ppg in his rookie season on a team that had no real leader or semblance of cohesiveness, just a bandaid approach to survive the shortened season and audition all the new players, Paschall played himself into a secure position on the bench and with the team. This guy is underrated, perservering, and very difficult to defend near the basket. He can create his shot and also get to the foul line. He is not a rim protector or an acrobatic player, but he can be a solid presence at the 4 who hopefully will improve his 3 ball and stretch the court for our shooters and speed players. Undersized, but so is Draymond. He is not an easy body to move around and can bang. I'm looking for him to step up and I'm looking forward to what this guy Wesson can bring. He sounds like he would be a better choice than Smiley at this point, but I don't know what the brass are thinking. He's got the body that I wish Draymond had. No doubt, this will be an interesting season to watch. Kerr will pull out all of the tricks from his bag of NBA experience. All we need are a few players to step up, strap them on, and get in rhythm with each other. A tall order, hey Wiseman!, but possible and I'd like to think, doable.

546 NBA players were tested for the coronavirus from Nov. 24-30 ...

48 returned positive tests ...

That’s 8.8 percent of the league as teams reassembled after the shortest offseason in league history ...

Regarding Wiseman and minutes: There’s every reason to be patient and not expect to see early season dominance... I believe Eric had a great post on this very subject. With that in mind, they half to get him NBA minutes and doesn’t it seem very Steve Kerr to run the run his biggest guy out there at the beginnings of halves when the game is more controlled and paced(and generally low-leverage). Chriss can eat minutes in a variety of lineups... but Looney and Draymond are clearly more proven, effective defensively, and can also play next to another big so why not save their limited amounts of run for nut-cracking time.

Start Wiseman, run him for the first 7-10 minutes of each half(the Bogut-Zaza role). Bring in Looney/Chriss to play the bulk of the rest of the halves with small ball Draymond being dusted off every so often like that old Ferrari under the cover in the barn... just to see if it still turns over.

interesting tidbit from the Chron:

> According to a team source, the Warriors are leaning toward entering the season with 14 players on the roster because they want to add a player mid-season using their $9.3 million disabled player exception. This severely hurts the chances of Mychal Mulder or Juan Toscano-Anderson, both of whom contributed last season, making the 15-man roster.

> Rookie second-round pick Nico Mannion is filling one of the team’s two two-way contracts and there has been speculation that Alen Smailagic could be cut to free up another roster spot, although a team source told The Chronicle recently that Golden State has “every intention” of keeping him this season.

> Mulder or Toscano-Anderson could be candidates for the other two-way contract, but they’d need to clear waivers before they can sign such a deal. After showcasing his “3-and-D” potential last season, Mulder might sign a guaranteed deal elsewhere.

First televised preseason appereances for the Warriors: 12/15 and 12/17 (both vs Kings, on TNT and ESPN, respectively).

So no coverage on the first game, but the fact that we get two televised preseason games (on national TV) is pretty cool.

Yeah, I think the coronavirus absences are going to be huge this season. The matchups are going to make no sense and the standings are going to be a house of cards that topples and gets rebuilt every two weeks.

Couple of tidbits. Good on Kerr to temper expectations OFF THE BAT on Wiseman instead of doing it halfway through training camp with speculation running rampant that hes not doing as well as envisioned.

One sliver of silver lining with Klay out is that Oubre is gonna have the opportunity to fully showcase his skills. Of course ideally he would have been our 6th man. BUT there is a scenario there where he becomes legit SF and now either him or Wiggins becomes more expendable on a potential trade in the off-season (if Lacob willing to pay an absolute bounty to re-sign oubre under the scenario that hes a coveted FA in off-season).

Finally, I mentioned this over in the Athletic but if rumors of Poole's progress are to be believed, I'd love to see a scenario in which he's a staple at the start of the 2nd quarter with either Wanamaker at the point or Bazemore at the 2 flanked by Wiggins and Oubre along the perimeter. Thats gonna give him plenty of decent defensive cover and some spacing. I just don't know if he's more of a 1 or a 2 since Kerr mentioned he's a combo guard so early season lineups should be telling.
