Not sure if you want to include English language broadcasts... this one sounds Australian*... hilarious that they have a guy that sounds like he's trying really hard to do an over the top American accent.
* could be NZ, but I'm like 80% confident is Australian... maybe?
I can't stop watching this. Ok, maybe I can, but I haven't tried to.
After seeing the repeated references to Team USA as The Avengers, I am interested in DubnationHQ's opinions as to who is which Avenger. I haven't gone through all of them, but here are my initial thoughts:
LeBron: Captain America, obviously. Assembled the Avengers, possibly lab-created, great leader with incredible longevity despite an increasingly suspect hairline.
Steph: Hawkeye. Looks like a pretty normal guy, but otherworldly accuracy and quick reflexes. A devoted family man, but becomes a ruthless assassin when away from them. Unafraid of sacrifices and the occasional catastrophic hairstyle. May have a future in politics.
Ant Man: Ant-Man. His nickname is literally Ant-Man, so there's that. In addition, he makes me laugh, and at this point in his Olympic career his game suddenly expands or shrinks in unpredictable ways.
Joel Embiid- Hulk. He's very big, and spent entire games as Bruce Banner before transforming in the nick of time to give an interloping DC supervillain* the ol' Puny God treatment. Also, his celebrations routinely consist of simply yelling, or making cringe-worthy hand gestures.
KD: Iron Man. Diverse offensive arsenal, way too active on social media, multiple surgeries, surprisingly sensitive to criticism, unstoppable since 2008. Spends more time in the lab than in the weight room.
Jayson Tatum: Thor. Great accomplishments away from the Avengers, surprisingly absent from this movie. Looks better with longer hair, has an outspoken mother. Will rule Bosgaard someday unless undermined by his own brother, who occasionally appears to lack a left hand.
I love how almost all the commentators are like, "Steph Curry for three again, that's incredible!" and then you have the French commentators saying, "oh no, oh no, ohhhh noooooo!"
Exactly what a French chef said to me once when I forgot to put salt in the pot when par-boiling green beans: "Ohhhh Pete-hair, no-no-no-no, ohhhh, zay rue-eened."
After Steph Curry drained eight 3-pointers Saturday to help lead the United States to gold in a 98-87 win over France, the Instagram account for McDonald’s France posted a message Sunday directed at the Golden State Warriors sharpshooter’s heroics.
“For obvious reasons, we are considering removing this sauce,” McDonald’s France’s posting translates from French to English, and included a picture of the chain’s Classic Curry dipping sauce.
Probably not. Yet every time he does something like this, it's hard not to wonder how much longer we're going to get to see it. What an amazing ride...
I found these last two games pretty genuinely cathartic after a year in which it seemed the ’22 Finals would prove to be Steph’s last truly iconic moment. (The fifty-ball against Sac was awesome, but not quite at the same level of stakes.) It’s been frustrating because I think so many of us were certain he could still deliver, but for various reasons—some inevitable, but some, I’d argue, not—it felt like the window was closing. Then this. Still just a game, of course, but it’s a particular brand of joy that's never coming back once he retires, so every extra morsel feels precious.
Well put! What an iconic moment this Olympics run was for 30. Olympic Gold checked off and added to his accolades. That was special to watch and share with family, friends, and fellow fans.
I feel much the same. But Steph's Olympics glory was not "just a game" but two amazing games back-to-back, with gold on the line, topped by an ultimate Curry Flurry. Precious indeed!
[Dickinson] First time since 2019 the Warriors will not be part of the NBA's Opening Night Doubleheader. Since 2015 the Warriors had been one of the two Opening Night TNT games every year except 2019. (Eight of the last nine years, and now not this year.)
If anyone saw the Closing Ceremonies exit-to-LA bit, my condolences. It was a super cringeworthy bit in which a 90 year old botoxed Tom Cruise -- the highest exemplar of USA culture -- does a Mission Impossible scripted jump out of an airplane type deal to get the flag to an LA beach so that skateboarders can enjoy a halfhearted Red Hot Chili Pepper number.
Paris be like: nous sommes trés classé, look at all this artistry, this elegant pageantry, these events set in the streets beside our iconic cultural landmarks, and a tour down the Seine amid displays of haute couture and a thought-provoking theme of an unnamed figure ushering in the flag and ultimately handing it off to a golden wanderer.
USA be like: ever seen Flea take off his shirt?
I mean, I get it. It's the LA Olympics, so they are going to feature Hollywoo stars. But what if instead they had had Meryl Streep and Viola Davis reprise their iconic strained dispute from the movie "Doubt," in which Streep plays the Mother Superior, and Davis the mother in a tour de force of quiet anguish and rage? Now that's an Olympic vibe we can all get behind.
I saw that handoff and thought it was entertaining. But I prefer the elegance of the Paris Olympics. Compare the full orchestra and well dressed band that played in the Closing ceremony to the half naked Chili band. I get it. They’re re in the beach but still.
So awesome. So awesome.

What country are you watching that from? I think it's blocked in the US...
Update: okay, I got access...
Huh weird. I'm in the US and not using a VPN.
Thank you for the continued updates. This is incredible, and version 3 just keeps getting better!
This party is called Stephen Curry!!
I can't stop watching this. Ok, maybe I can, but I haven't tried to.

*Ha! Get it?! I'll see myself out.
underrated comment :D
I love v3 and the way everyone reacts with the last basket. I screamed when I saw it first and it’s so nice to see everybody having the same reaction.
The Spanish translation of the new bits is perfect, great work, Eric! ♥️
I just keep watching it. Version three is a bet repetitious, and I don't care. I'm still literally LOL.
Given that Curry saved Steve Kerr's bacon by being the difference maker in the knock-out rounds, how do we suppose Steve is gonna pay him back?
My guess: Kerr will caddy for Curry once he joins the PGA tour.

You could cut the disappointment with a knife.
Les annonceurs were crying out in pain and grief. Far too much spiciness and sauce. I hope your chef wasn't quite so stricken.
I love the part where they call him the Devil named Curry!
I hope you saw this:

No amount or kind of detergent will wash the Curry stains from the cravats of France. They may as well wear it as a badge of honor.
They're not the first and won't be the last.
Probably not. Yet every time he does something like this, it's hard not to wonder how much longer we're going to get to see it. What an amazing ride...
Amazing stuff, Eric. Thanks for this.

Yes, we are blessed that we’ve gotten not one but two fairytale endings after 2019!
I feel much the same. But Steph's Olympics glory was not "just a game" but two amazing games back-to-back, with gold on the line, topped by an ultimate Curry Flurry. Precious indeed!
yes, after the Serbia game, we all felt safe calling that "The Steph Curry Game", but amazingly that might not be clear anymore
That is why plurals were invented.
Might just stick with “The Steph Curry Olympics”
The Steph Curry Era
“The Chef Curry Space-Time Continuum”

Klay has been super social media quiet during the Olympics.
Is he still in Africa with Festus?
Not sure. His last post was August 3rd.
Maybe he's having too much fun to spend time on social media.
I hope he's not returning by boat!
Okay, that Curry kid may turn into a good basketball player some day. LOL
Nah, he's too small Ernie.
Oh well, just another wasted draft pick!
Pour another one out for MIN and their double PG choices.

haters gonna hate
It’s too strong. Call me a disliker, I don’t really care very much
Shared this comment with Mrs. Dubs Nerd (actually Dr. Mrs. Dubs Nerd) and she wanted me to pass along that she also enjoyed it.
Hey Dr. Mrs. DN! Solidarity!
I enjoyed the whole thing, lol. Including botoxed Cruise, shirtless Flea and Anthony Kiedis, Snoop and Dre. 😊

If it hasn’t been mentioned: DNHQ’s own Daniel Hardee chats with Sam on the latest episode of Light Years. Fun listen!
Thanks Apricot.
