Good chance to seize the initiative tonight. What a difference a win would make! I desperately want it to happen but I’m also proud and grateful just for our guys to be out there in the arena doing what they do. They will be there to the last breath of this crazy, astonishing, fantastic season. I love that as they get older they seem increasingly mindful of how fleeting and special it all is. Time to weaponize that joy again! GO WARRIORS!!
Yeah, I’m curious too. It really didn’t seem like we had much to go on to form an opinion. Unless it’s something along the lines of “I didn’t like the cut of his jib”…or perhaps a Chiozza resentment.
Getting both games in Boston was always a long shot proposition. The Warriors are about to make it an even series with home court advantage once again, as long as Steph's foot isn't hurt badly enough to impede him. I think Draymond and Andy both step up big in this one and Klay should have another good shooting game. The only thing I'm anxious about is more injury potential - gotta grab those rebounds before they end up in a wrestling match on the ground. I'm pretty calm about it right now but I'm sure my blood pressure levels will be going up around game time.
If not for good first quarter shooting, shit rebounding, and shit Dray, we could have easily taken Game 3. I see no reason not to believe we can take Game 4. Doesn't mean we will certainly do it, but no reason to doubt.

So my adjustments would be:
- Box out and Wiggs aggression on the O boards.
- Get up in their jersey from the jump. None of this sagging off to start the game and letting them launch shots.
- Mirror Loon mins with RWIII mins (although that looked like it was happening in G3).
- More GPII on JB (Tatums too big for him) with the occasional blitz.
- If healthy 5mins (only 5mins!!) of Andre carrying the ball to get JP off ball for the first half. Give him a chance to get some confidence, then put the ball in his hands second half if going well.
- Some Moses mins on the second unit to space the floor for JP.
Honestly, they're doing a good job on our off-ball action. I'm not totally sure that putting JP off ball is going to help that much, especially with Andre out there as a non-shooter. If we want to get JP going, I think it needs to be a lineup with spacing, something like JP/Klay/Andrew/Otto/Bjelica. Of course, this line up sucks defensively... but maybe throw in a zone if the Celtics don't have great shooting out there...
Yeah, more shooting around JP should open more lanes and make it harder to double him. That lineup you prescribed *should* be able to score and defend the Celtics 2nd unit.
Be sure to mark down this prediction: Bjelica’s gonna take over this series and bring home three straight wins with his scoring, distributing and defense. He’ll win the MVP and we’ll forever refer to him as “Bjelly GOAT”.
I forgot how it was like to be down in a series. Was everyone worried about how the team was going to do in the playoffs when the Warriors were down against the 2015 Grizzlies, the 2015 Cavaliers, and the 2016 Thunder teams?
Down 3-1 to the Thunder looked like certain doom. They weren’t close losses either — they kicked our asses all over the floor in Games 3 and 4. I would have given us like a 5% shot of winning the series going into Game 5.
But even being down 2-1 to Memphis was terrifying, since we had done nothing up to that point; and there was an ever-present anxiety that we could be just another soft, flash-in-the-pan 60+ win fraud, like the ‘15 Hawks or ‘22 Suns. Losing to those Grit n Grind Grizz would have confirmed all the slander from the “they too small, Ernuh” haters.
For me, in 2015, I think I was just happy to see our young team play so well. And so being down 2-1 that playoff run felt different.
The 2016 OKC series was the one where it felt like we should be winning (because 73 wins n all) but ran into a wall of long, physical limbs that had Kevin Durant... and we just seemed to be overwhelmed.
This series feels more like 2016 OKC to me except we know this core can (and has) risen up to meet the challenge before.
In yesterdays interview, Steph did not really answer the question on how his leg/ankle injury was. He just said he was going to play. He seemed somber to me. I suspect that for the rest of the series we MAY be getting the Steph of the 2016 finals where he was not completely healed from his injury and the Cavs successfully took advantage of it. I truly hope it’s not the case.

The best French toast you’ll ever have is at Mission Cafe in San Diego. If you like cinnamon, don’t miss it. I like the location at Mission Beach. You can hit the boardwalk afterwards.

The Finals are supposed to be hard. The Celtics are likely the toughest opponent the Warriors could be facing. This is how it is supposed to be. This is properly epic. I am stoked! Let's go WAARRRRRRIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRS!
His defense on Tatum has still been good. And he really helped us keep in the game early in G3 by attacking the rim. But yeah, he fell off the rebounding. We need him to channel the WCF Wiggs
Another reason to be optimistic(?): If one believes in league officiating conspiracy theories*, Game 4 would be one to favor GSW as it would ensure at least 6 games of revenue.
ok gang, GT time: https://dubnationhq.com/p/game-thread-get-the-split-in-boston?s=w
The problem with putting dray back on jaylen is Wiggs and loon (or opj or whatever) have to fight off their team for offensive boards

Couldn’t have said it better 🙏🏻
Going to the watch party at Chase. Haven't been to a watch party since Game 5 during the TOR series. Let's hope we get the same ending
Atkinson to coach KO
https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1535387296823902208?s=21&t=viAwiJxiZDBmEWZk_v2RTw
Wasnt a fan of Atkinson tbh
In a recent article in The Athletic, Kerr or Myers said part of why they hired Atkinson was that he's more analytics-literate and analytics-friendly.
Good, needed that diversity of thought. I hope, and expect, that they replace him with another analytics friendly coach.
Out of curiosity, why?
Our development program seemed to get much better this year, and I'm guessing Atkinson was a big part of it.
Not trolling ... just interested in what got your attention about him.
Yeah, I’m curious too. It really didn’t seem like we had much to go on to form an opinion. Unless it’s something along the lines of “I didn’t like the cut of his jib”…or perhaps a Chiozza resentment.
Does that mean Chiozza is gone next year?
2 "big name" assistants gone sheesh
Good for him. Long term deal too. Sad to see him go though
I thought you wrote KD and I was thinking for far too long why he'd accept an assistant coach job there
I don’t like to type long and “KO” was shortest 😉

Unleash the Bjelly

Mine was unleashed a couple of decades ago.
“I don’t think you’re ready for this Bjelly!”
-Beyoncé, probably
The "DubnationHQ Basketball and Taco Blog" made me hungry, so I went and had fake Mexican for lunch.
I hear we have a game tonight against the San Diego Rockets?
Down 2-1, stop acting like the series is over. Intended for whoever it applies to. Toughen up.
I think it's because this team hasn't faced any real adversity since 2015/2016. The fans can't handle the pressure anymore :)
They which hath no stomach to this fight, let them depart!
You seem to be implying I'm a wuss for running around the house yelling "Steph's ankle, Poole's doh-fense , Dray's a pod person, woe is me". :)
Truth bomb

Yeyeye…feel like some people underestimated Boston and now think something has gone horribly wrong.
Nah- they’re nasty. Was always going to be a brutal test. The Dubs can still come through.
Feels like words for yourself lol
I have been pretty consistently saying this since the start of the series tbh.

Wiggins with his worst series of the playoffs so far :(
How so?
His defense on Tatum has still been good. And he really helped us keep in the game early in G3 by attacking the rim. But yeah, he fell off the rebounding. We need him to channel the WCF Wiggs

*I don’t
Please let the conspiracy be true, then have it push this series to seven so we can afford to run it back with the same squad next season
I do (the NBA is a business) and I think they’ll give us more favorable whistles tonight.
I hope so. Dubs defense has been destroyed two out of three games now. Gonna take epic Redding to make up for that.
Need the Game 2 defense to show up.
Sadly, in my experience Redding is not epic :(
Those De Cabeza tacos do look right!
