Sadly, it is as bad as I thought. IF Steph is out for 6 weeks, the season is on the line. Kerr is spot-on. I would start with LOONS, DRAY, WIGGS, KLAY AND, YES, POOLE IN STEPH'S SLOT. I would want my BEST PERIMETER/SPACING AND PENETRATION FIREPOWER TO START; would rotate Green and Poole TOGETHER as Green will HELP POOLE/KEEP HIM pointed as Green is a point-forward and a steadying, playmaking cog. I would rotate JW AND JMG with either Green and/or Loons -Loons methinks is best PLAYING with JW- depending on OPPONENT INTERIOR, AND LAMB/JK/DDV/TY FOR KLAY/WIGGS/POOLE. STAGGER ROTATIONS, MIX IT UP, AS NEEDED IN GAME AND PERFORMANCE. QED.
Yep, and before Livingston, Jarrett Jack was the only back-up PG who led us, off-the-bench, in TS percent, on his way to 17 ppg in our 1st , 2d rd, Steph-era playoffs appearance; a fellow named Landry, off-the-bench, led us in scoring w/ 20.8 ppg, and decoy-wounded Steph was 2d with 20.4ppg. A ROOKIE starter named Barnes chipped-in with 15 ppg and earned the ''Playoff Barnes'' moniker. The following year, Barnes got off to a great start, got injured, Andre started, and Harrison never recovered that sophomore... year coming off the bench. Unfortunately, JJ and Landry were gone the next year, Andre was nursing a hamstring through most of it, the bench went through 3 backup PGs/blowing 20 pt leads, and, with Bogut hurt and Barnes back as a starter, Jackson went with ''Full Squad'' with DLee at center....small ball. Deja vu; Kerr's best option to try to get us to the playoffs with potentially an even stronger bench now. No other choice outside of trade, so let's support JP and PLAY JW....and hope it works....
It feels like this team goes into “run out the clock” mode with a lead toward the end, and just completely switches gears to slowing it down. Have to just play, imo…
Sometimes, instead of slowing it down, the team gets frantic and tries to move too fast, and that's when turnovers happen. I think that's one of Poole's big problems. We saw it with one sequence tonight late in the 4th Q where the ball came across midcourt, quickly was fumbled but recovered immediately, passed to Klay, he passed it back out to Poole (as I recall), who turned it over. It never felt to me like the ball was fully under control once it came across center court except for Klay's pass.
Then there was the one where Klay was cutting to the corner and Poole passed it to him… and then Klay stopped and the ball sailed out of bounds… it’s so weird and janky
Mostly this last. It's playing with fear. And i have always found that the best counter to this is playing with effort. When you do, good things happen. Dray playing with passion is a great example of this.
Poole is often an example of someone that tries to counter it by playing with audacity...often doesn't work out.
Steve Kerr said the Warriors are done starting small and are committed to the bigger lineup with Draymond/Looney: "I'm going back to it...Came to the conclusion that our best bet is to start with the bigger lineup. We know that five-man unit is the #1 or #2 lineup in the NBA."
Pooles confidence is all kinds of shook. And no chucking a couple of heatchecks does t mean hes fully confident in his shot right now. I hate to be silver lining in this type of guy but these next few weeks are going to be telling how Poole does as the spearhead in this offense.
IIRC, Wiggins, Kuminga and JMG all missed time while Steph was out, so Poole theoretically will have more talent and a more complete team around him this time.
I have this idea floating around in my head to trade Poole this off season, extend DDV to be first guard off the bench and find a way to bring back Mac McClung as the designated micro-wave scorer with no D for those "in case of emergency, break glass" moments. Mac showed better judgement than Poole.
I’m not sure if you can extend DDV. At most we can offer is the full TPMLE. He already has a player option from us for next year. We don’t have bird's rights or anything.
I didn’t get to see this game. Sounds like 2+ quarters of decent play, followed by a Steph injury and then a chokeathon of a 4th quarter. Second time in 3 games we cough up a lead by scoring just 17 points in the 4th? I’m not deeply sad I missed that.
My DNHQ bona fides say keep the faith. Keep on trucking. Keep on keepin’ on. 3rd star on the left, clap your hands, clench your sphincter and fly onwards to the playoffs. Steph will be fine, maybe miss a couple of weeks and return after the ASG. We got this.

do the mavericks even had any wing defenders left?
Bullock & Jeff Green
Damn some rough warriors news to start the day
Sigh
Update from Shams and slater:
Golden State’s Stephen Curry is expected to miss multiple weeks with a left leg injury, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.
This is expected to knock him out for All-Star weekend. The Warriors are still trying to determine severity and exact amount of weeks Curry will miss.
FAK.
It might have been pointed out and I missed it, but 0 rebounds for Wiggs last night in 29 minutes?? Bless him.
Been a weakness since Livingston left. No back up PG to settle the team down and take care of the ball
It was a weakness before this season.

Ty Jerome and DDV both handle this job. Different styles but both good assists/turnover ratios especially Ty.
Dre was another guy Kerr could bring in to settle everyone down, handle the ball, help glue together the defense and defend POA.
Who?
Ouch! How soon they forget!!!
They forgot about Dre

All of the flow from the first quarter disappeared, probably due to a combination of factors:
- opponent adjusts
- players tired and not where they are supposed to be or cutting with same vigor
- pressing, not wanting to make a mistake AGAIN, second-guessing every move, pass, and shot opportunity
Mostly this last. It's playing with fear. And i have always found that the best counter to this is playing with effort. When you do, good things happen. Dray playing with passion is a great example of this.

Fucking around, finding out: your 2022-23 Golden State Warriors!

Still, small ball...lol...can't play it all game, and, it has to have something left to close in the 4th....
duh.
“We go away from what was working,” Draymond said, explaining the Warriors’ late game offense struggles.
https://twitter.com/ThompsonScribe/status/1622089102517755904
Kerr: "I'm thrilled with the win, but disappointed in how we closed the game. We have to get better."
https://twitter.com/CjHolmes22/status/1622086649877528577
JaMychal Green on some of his struggles this season: “Feel like I just got in my own way. Overthinking.”
He added that now he's playing more "free."

JMG has made impressive strides this season.
Dray also mentioned how the early season bench rotation shuffles did JMG no favors
Yep...and a lot of the rest of the experimental players....I think we farted around with timelines too long...injuries did not help, though...
He was fantastic and everything we hoped on day 1. Keep it up JMG!
Pooles confidence is all kinds of shook. And no chucking a couple of heatchecks does t mean hes fully confident in his shot right now. I hate to be silver lining in this type of guy but these next few weeks are going to be telling how Poole does as the spearhead in this offense.
Didn't we already get a glimpse of that when Steph was out due to the shoulder?
IIRC, Wiggins, Kuminga and JMG all missed time while Steph was out, so Poole theoretically will have more talent and a more complete team around him this time.
Am I smoking some of that therapeutic weed, or, did Poole play last year when Steph was out, and kicked butt...
Yeah i think its different. I felt it was more gatekeeper but now we’re gonna have to crank out some wins
People on r/warriors want him to be gone in the next offseason after tonight's game.
I have this idea floating around in my head to trade Poole this off season, extend DDV to be first guard off the bench and find a way to bring back Mac McClung as the designated micro-wave scorer with no D for those "in case of emergency, break glass" moments. Lil Mac would be exactly what we need as things unfolded, this season, anyway.......
I’m not sure if you can extend DDV. At most we can offer is the full TPMLE. He already has a player option from us for next year. We don’t have bird's rights or anything.
If Curry misses the rest of the games till the ASB, here's how I will predict the Warriors will do in the next several games:
vs. Thunder- Loss
@ Blazers- Loss
vs. Lakers- Loss
vs. Wizards- Win
@ Clippers- Loss
All four of the losses will be due to the Warriors not closing out the game properly in the 4th quarter or them doing poorly in the 2nd half overall.
Lol...Wiz have been playing well/giving teams a run...
They were up by a lot against the shorthanded Nets yesterday and lost. They were without Beal and Kuzma left with an ankle injury early though.
Well. If Steph is not playing, may be teams play us . 5 team instead of defending champs
Fingers crossed, it's only a pain tolerance thing and he is back by the Portland game.
Stop predicting.
Au contraire. This is perfect. Dubs should come into the ASG 5-1. :-D
Yep. I'm praying for a reverse jinx and hope that they figure out something in the 4th quarter to allow them to win their next several games.
The first rule of the reverse jinx is that it only works when the original writer is ignorant of the reverse jinx
Dammit. That means the Warriors will go 1-4 in the next 5 games.
3-2 based on prior accuracy maybe.
I didn’t get to see this game. Sounds like 2+ quarters of decent play, followed by a Steph injury and then a chokeathon of a 4th quarter. Second time in 3 games we cough up a lead by scoring just 17 points in the 4th? I’m not deeply sad I missed that.

I'd say we did fine up until 6:04 left in the 4th. We only scored 4 pts from that point on...
yes, and all free throws.
What was the Warriors record the last time Stephen Curry was out several games with an injury?
6-5.
Won: @ Raptors, vs. Grizzlies, vs. Hornets, vs. Jazz, vs. Blazers, vs. Hawks
Lost: @ 76ers, @ Knicks, @ Nets, vs. Pistons, vs. Magic
Higher winning percentage without Curry but lower net rating.
Thanks Servant of Luna,
So they can win without him...
Hoping all the best for Steph's leg.
