Heat had ball with 28 seconds left in quarter. Spoelstra was on the sideline holding up one finger and yelling "one shot" that was probably audible to most of the crowd. Heat get the ball in the frontcourt and Adebayo immediately drives to the bucket. He misses, and Rockets get a buzzer beater, but it's the kind of trickery the Dubs might need to be aware of when the face the Heat in a few days.
> [Krawczynski] Joe Ingles' wife, Renae, and 3 kids have stayed at the family home in Orlando all season. They are in town this week. Son Jacob is autistic. Earlier this week he had a milestone. He watched an entire NBA game in arena for the 1st time. Finch starting Joe so they can see him play.
Ingles has only played 6 minutes and didn’t make a basket. With Wolves up by 30, I think they can afford to play him again so his son can see him make a bucket.
hey there...a week or so ago someone posted a link to a 90-min(?) Warriors YouTube video. starts with Steph, thru the draft, ankles, Jackson, Kerr, 2015 LoB. that's where I paused, but had to restart my laptop a few times and lost my browser tabs.
searched for it, but can't find it. Thought it was Golden Era or something, but coming up empty! has commentary from various video bloggers.
If someone can share the link again, it'd be 'preciated!
OT: YouTuber “AM Hoops” (not the smartest NBA YTer out there, but far from the dumbest) thinks the Mavs are gonna fire Nico and trade AD, and posits the Warriors as the most likely destination. Proposes JK (S/T) plus Buddy plus hella picks, as the Mavs have control of almost no picks between this season and like 2031.
Man would that be Dallas admitting a mistake fast. That almost never happens that quickly. But then again, a player of Luka's caliber is almost never traded at 25.
1) get traded in the offseason, have time to set up your life in a new city before the season starts. Go through training camp with your new team, develop chemistry with your new teammates, and get into a routine
2) get traded at a random point of the season with no warning and have to do all that while simultaneously being in and out of town playing professional basketball
Seems to me like i’d take the s&t if the warriors were looking to move me
This is all assuming the S&T deal is something both the Mavs want to pay and Kuminga is willing to take given how bad the team will be - and all assuming there are 0 competing offers he would rather take. Sign and trades are absurdly rare for a reason.
He has to sign a contract with us if we want to sign him, he has no other choice as a restricted free agent. We just match the highest offer. Obviously this fantasy about a trade with the mavs assumes the mavs want to do the trade.
AD would be very expensive and he is very fragile. AD will make $54M next season, then $58.45M the following season, and then he has a player option for $62.8M in '27-'28. Even if JK got a big contract, we'd have to send serious additional talent along with him. And much as I respect AD's game, we already have three old men in our core. So I'd vote no deal.
I wouldn't be totally against it. I'm not fully convinced of JK's long-term fit, and we were great without him for a long time. Additionally, while Buddy is an iron man compared to AD, his inconsistency takes away a lot of that advantage. If there really were "hella picks" I could see it being a good idea, especially considering 1) MDJ has been good in the draft and 2) AD probably has a few good years left in him (he's "only" 32).
Counterpoint: if AD doesn't want to play center, then why not just stick with QP?
"Prior to the Butler trade, the Warriors were 27th in fouls drawn per possession. But Butler, who barrels to the rim as if he were a 350-pound bodybuilder, understands how to create contact. Since his arrival from Miami, the Warriors rank fourth."
From what I've seen Jimmy Butler is quite good at driving hard and the finding ways to pass to teammates. He seems to be able to look to either score if left with a lane to the basket, or find open teammates.
Not easy, and impressive to me how he uses his strength and speed to attack, and yet still can pass or shoot as he feels is best.
Draymond noted his exceptional passing in this post game interview last night after the Raptors game.
Nah I think that teams will continue to bet that Dray/Kuminga/Butler/GP2/Looney can’t shoot.
To be fair, it’s a good bet but Curry/Hield cause enough havoc on the perimeter with their offball movement that simply sagging off the non-shooters isn’t as effective.
Hope you are right. He has looked pretty shakey to me actually putting the ball in the hoop on those drives. It also seems like he has had quite a few relatively easy finishes that went in but with the ball rolling around the rim and finally going down.
I'm with you on the drawing fouls part, but not so sure about the finishing part as JB has not been stellar at the rim. Heat fans have complained that he had a case of the yips, which might explain why he keeps dishing the ball out instead of finishing inside. Time will tell
Agreed - I also think he is still working back into game shape, and then got tired with heavy usage. Maybe he's just old, but I'm guessing/hoping he'll be a better finisher by the end of the regular season.

FVV 9/11 on threes early in the 4th
shooting 34% this season. Smoking hot now.
Spo is not taking the ball outta his hands…
FVV has 32 points on 11/14 FGs and 9/11 threes
come on wiggs! Rockets shooting over 50% from 3 is a problem.
With Jokic out, I think the Blazers will overpower the Nuggets. They are playing really well.
Go Wiggins!
Heat up 80-78 after 3 quarters
Heat had ball with 28 seconds left in quarter. Spoelstra was on the sideline holding up one finger and yelling "one shot" that was probably audible to most of the crowd. Heat get the ball in the frontcourt and Adebayo immediately drives to the bucket. He misses, and Rockets get a buzzer beater, but it's the kind of trickery the Dubs might need to be aware of when the face the Heat in a few days.
Rockets down 6 to the Heat - Rockets shooting a blistering 7/17 from the line
Wiggins doing his part to help out his old friends though, 28 points through 3Q
Ware looks like a mini-Wembanyama
Wolves up 62-48 against the depleted Pels at halftime. Heat up 59-51 against the Rockets at halftime.
Wiggins looking fantastic
He’s shooting at 90% with two minutes to go in the third. Good for him.
You got that right. 20 point second quarter for Wiggs, 22 at the half. NIce to see.
Couldn't happen to a nicer guy :D

Nice touch by Finch and the Wolves' organization. I saw Ingles out there and figured Conley must have been injured.
That's heartwarming.

Anyone on board?

I would do it in a heartbeat.
I think I'd be too worried about the injury and age factors with AD.
But, if you believe in selling out for win-now (I don't), then it would be a huge upgrade in the here and now, and you just roll the dice, I guess.
JK would have to agree to a S&T, and I dont think he or anyone would want to be on Mavs rn
I mean his options if this were to be real are:
1) get traded in the offseason, have time to set up your life in a new city before the season starts. Go through training camp with your new team, develop chemistry with your new teammates, and get into a routine
2) get traded at a random point of the season with no warning and have to do all that while simultaneously being in and out of town playing professional basketball

Hey, this is the modern NBA, being signed to a contract doesnt mean the player will actually play for you
Plus, the Mavs have nobody next year. Kyrie will be rehabbing. JK would probably be the featured option, unless they made a second big trade.
And, they wouldn't really have any assets left to get another star, other than whatever picks they got from us.
So JK would be the #1 option?! Go for it
SOLD!!!
I wouldn't be totally against it. I'm not fully convinced of JK's long-term fit, and we were great without him for a long time. I think the proposal has the W's giving up hella picks.
Sure. But AD does not want to play center. It's part of the reason the Lakers were willing to part with him.
Steph, Moses, Jimmy, AD, QP
Bench: Dray, Podz, Gui, Knox, Loon, plus some kind of shooter to replace Buddy…
Man, that starting lineup would be insane.
Meet Quinten Post.
Heck, play Podz at center.
Well it's not the craziest trade idea I've heard. I dunno how I feel about getting AD though, dude is injured seemingly every season as good as he is.
That's an OLD team - Steph, JB, Dray, and AD
AD plays older than he is (32)
Can we keep 43-year-old Looney?
Games to watch for tonight:
Heat vs. Rockets
Wolves vs. Pels (round 2)
Blazers vs. Nuggets
Clippers vs. Grizzlies
Double rooting for the Heat tonight, though catching the Rockets seems unlikely any more.
I'll trade a Rockets loss for a Clippers loss (if I have to).

-From an athletic article
What an insane stat that is
And the difference between close wins and close loses.
So true.
I am interested to see if teams start telling JB we aren’t helping on your penetration so go ahead and try to score.
Put a guy with length on him and totally play him to drive, help D stay out on your own guy if he is a shooter and make JB finish and score.
From what I've seen Jimmy Butler is quite good at driving hard and the finding ways to pass to teammates. He seems to be able to look to either score if left with a lane to the basket, or find open teammates.

I’m guessing those complaints are quelled once the playoffs arrive, and start up again during the regular season
Agreed - I also think he is still working back into game shape, and then got tired with heavy usage. Maybe he's just old, but I'm guessing/hoping he'll be a better finisher by the end of the regular season.
Well the Hawks have Dyson Daniels and the Warriors have no Curry so perhaps they'll do just that.
