Alex Shultz of sfgate writing gibberish based on an obvious truth spoke by Myers that in the long run everybody is tradeable. This is supposed to be making us fans irate.
Looking at the B/R FA big board - they have Drummond listed at #30. We could be a sneaking contender for his services on a 1 year vet min. He rebounds, sets screens and can defend the paint. That’s all we need.
Nico Mannion sinks the dagger 3 which sends Italy into the Olympic quarterfinals on August 3rd. He finishes the game with 14pts, 4rbs, 1ast, 1stl on 4/12 FG, 1/5 3PT, 5/5 FT.
Nico will certainly miss both of the California Classic Summer League games.
FA market for Point Guards as thin as the hair on my head. Warriors may have to rough it with GP II, Poole running point in all non-Curry minutes and Nico holed up on another 2-way, ready to play substantial minutes in case of injury. In this case, GSW needs to emphasize secondary play making across their lineups. Does this put a higher emphasis on passing in their pursuit of a FA Big? Even more important than a 3 point shot, especially if you believe in Wiseman's shot (which I do). Chriss seems like such a no-brainer and any center markedly better will have to leave a lot of money on the table.
Poole will really be put to the test out of the gate if a significantly better FA point guard doesn't materialize. I think he is up for the task and the Warriors will be better for it.
Anybody know of a good lowlights compilation for Wiseman, i.e. video analysis of areas for him to improve on? His highlights are so tantalizing. I've been wondering how much his weaknesses can be mitigated/addressed in one season.
Ok, now it's time to put old trades in perspective. Russell for Wiggins and MIN top 3 protected 1st round pick that conveyed this year in the form of one Jonathon Kuminga. We all know Wiggs' contract was a bad one, but it served 2 critical roles.
A. it maintained the 4th Superstar salary slot, whether or not it would be occupied by an improving Wiggs or used in a future trade scenario &
B. it's the price that the Warriors had to pay to secure another lottery pick after their 7 year draft drought (2013-2019).
A definitive "How do you like me now?" moment for Bob & Co.
Not the worst dice roll (Russell for Wiggins trade). But — we have to wait a few years more for the dice to land (i.e. if our lucky 7th pick turns out to be a major contributor). Come on I’ve got the hard ways covered!
I love Meyers, but this was probably the easiest draft he has ever run. The NBA (all teams other than GSW) literally made these picks for him. "The Oklahoma City Thunder select ..." And the Warrior's 7th pick was in before Adam Silver said, " .... Giddey." I suspect Moody was 2 or 3 on their board after the top tier was cleared and I suspect they did not believe he would fall to 14. "And the Indiana Pacers select, Chris Du...." What, what what??? Again, the pick was pretty much made for the Warriors. THANKS NBA!!!!!! We couldn't be a dynasty without you!
some insight into Warriors' workout with Kuminga -- they had Atkinson work with him, and they had a nice long dinner as well. Sounds humble and a good character. Makes me more optimistic!
Watched another Moody game. This was the Sweet 16 ARK v Oral Roberts, one of Moody’s worst shooting games. Yes, he stunk it up shooting (it would have been an easy win if he’d had a merely bad shooting day), but he still made lots of contributions, particularly on D. He was the head of the snake on the Ark trapping again, until Oral specifically adjusted, so Ark had to send someone else to double. Generally good rotations, though he got beat backdoor once.
Moody got more assertive on O when Ark needed a comeback, and actually drove most of the comeback with his (rare that day) points. Some big steals on D and hustle too, with one memorable play down the stretch, stripping from behind and flying to the floor.

Draymond 8 points FG 100%
Target - Batum and Sataronsky in FA.
Other options - Gay/Mills/Baynes-if bought out/R Lopez/Howard/Carmelo

He's really bad defensively, big pass. They were playing the corpse of Gasol over him by the end.
And he may be a great rebounder, but his teams had historically rebounded worse with him on the floor than with him off.
There are a lot of really good and diverse C options out there - Holmes, Noel, Olynyk, Dieng, Dedmon, Muscala, Theis, Jeff Green, RoLo, Chriss.
And for him, a good way to raise his current value.
Doesn't look like Mannion's night against Nigeria
3-10 FG / 0-4 3pt / 4 reb / 1 ast / 1 stl / 15 mins with 5 minutes left to go in 4th.

I wrote "nailed the 3" , but "sinks the dagger 3" is better. I'm still learnin' ;-)

I’m confident in Poole and, as you described, our current crew.
If we can convince Andre to rejoin on a vet minimum, the Warriors will have enough playmaker minutes.
Awesome. Great to hear he came up clutch after having (what appeared to be) an average night. Go Nico

Can't think of a dedicated video for that but his matchups against Jokic had some moments.
Thanks! So a lot of work on defense it is.

Love that punishing the glass is a point of emphasis for these guys.
Indiana Pacers are in Win-Now mode, going all in so as not to waste Chris Duarte's prime years.
Too late

Ultimately netting Wigs & Kuminga for KD was masterful. FO deserves much credit for the maneuvers.

I mean, I was long ago ok with a straight up Wiggins for Russell swap. The upside of Kuminga being a mere side dish.
Mere side dish = 1 lb porter house steak
I think I'd go with fugu--big upside, BIG downside
Now we see if it’s a glorious medium rare or well done

“literally”?
SAC pick of Davion was clutch
Can always rely on SAC to help other teams get better. Had to be an 'off night' for "Off-Night."

Watch Jessup shoot 48 for 50 with lock down defense and really put the roster into crunch mode!
Trade Steph!
Summer league ring here we come
Schakel and Taylor duking it out for the two-way 6'6 shooter contract, I like it.
Never even considered watching summer league before. Now I’ve got the schedule book marked (https://www.nba.com/warriors/news/summer-league-20210728). Bring it on!
I used to live in Vegas and go every year in high school it was awesome
Seen Andrew wiggins first game

Impressive character stuff. Will be interesting for sure.

In one game near the end of this (presumably*) massively successful season, I’d like to see Kerr give Wiggins a night off and start a lineup of:
Steph-Lee-Klay-Draymond-Looney, and then hockey sub-in…
Poole-Moody-JTA-Kuminga-Wiseman
They could sell shirts with all 10 players with the caption “How do you like OUR process?” or holding joints with caption, “Home grown, bitches!”
*You’ll get no parenthetical “hopefully” qualifier from me.
Man I'm excited for kuminga, hes going to be great, hope he comes out to summer league and bullies people
