just about time for a post-game thread. getting crowded in here

Think that DPE will be used this season? I don't know who will be the odd man out on this current roster. Probably JTA.

Expand full comment

JTA’s on a two-way. They’d need to cut a guaranteed guy (Mulder, Poole, Smiley, Chriss, e.g.)

Expand full comment

Cut smiley plsss

Expand full comment

Dang, forgot about that.

Expand full comment

TNT crew saying Oladipo doesn’t want to play for Houston? Pretty sure they made that up, but I’ll take some of that action.

Expand full comment

Oladipo is an expiring contract, same as Oubre. He would be a rental for this season and then a UFA, and he's an upgrade but he's not taking us to the Promised Land. Beal would cost a lot more but we'd have him through '21-'22 with a player option after that, so we would have him with Klay next season. It also depends on how much faith you have that we could do something special with those picks we'd have to give up to get Beal.

Expand full comment

Beal’s also a lot better than Oladipo. I would happily liquidate the Minny pick plus a couple of our own in a Wiggins-Beal swap.

Expand full comment

Why would Washington do that? There is nothing attractive about this for them. Wiggins can't even help Curry and everyone is hyped about his 'adjusted' game this season. He's scored 20+ points 3x in 12 games. That is paltry for a player making the kind of money he is. He has to go but who will take him?

Expand full comment

How is Beal as a defender? And how much does he have to have the ball to be effective? I think I actually like Wiggins better if Klay is back and healthy.

(This is based on my assumption that Beal is a mediocre defender at best; if that's not the case, then that definitely changes the calculus for me).

Expand full comment

Wiggins is never going to deserve the money he is getting no matter who is playing next to him. It's best they start preparing to trade him, somehow. I've seen enough. I'd rather have Oubre as a project than kicking this dead horse.

Expand full comment

Oh definitely Beal is much better. And a starting lineup next season of Wiseman, Dray, Klay, Beal, and Steph would scare the league. We'd still have Paschall off the bench, we might re-sign Oubre if he turns into what we hoped he would be. Kevon has a player option next year. I'd like to watch that team.

Expand full comment

I've seen that report

Expand full comment

Steph and he were making serious goo-goo eyes at each other after last game.

Oubre plus (Poole or Mannion) for ‘Dipo makes some sense for both teams. Steph needs help.

Expand full comment

I've seen you mention the goo goo eyes twice now. I need to go back and see this lol. Oladipo would be good though. Still a good defender but a much better scorer

Expand full comment

I won't lie I'd miss oubre

Expand full comment

That would be amazing

Expand full comment

Throwing in someone else would also open a roster spot to use on a DPE guy (ideally, someone who can shoot).

Expand full comment

Or: we liquidate the picks and Wiggins for Beal.

Expand full comment

Not sure what it was tonight. Just an off night for the team. Only thing worth watching at the end was to see Wiggs block shots or Wise dunk the ball. Other than that game was a throwaway.

Expand full comment

"GET YOUR HEAD IN THE GAME!" One of those nights where that was the case

Expand full comment

I expect a sharp and focused team on monday especially after having time to practice over the weekend

Expand full comment

Well, Monday is the kind of game where they can be sharp and focused and still lose by 30 lol.

Expand full comment

Wiseman dropping 30 and 10 on ad

Expand full comment

That's why I didn't mention anything about a possible win lol

Warriors seemed to have more than 4 blocks. Wiggs had 4 himself, sure Wiseman had a couple and I think Oubre too...

Expand full comment

They only credited Wiggs with one.

Expand full comment

Wow shaq said we're not a playoff team and with klay we might be. Also Chuck calling out wiseman for only having 5 rebounds

Expand full comment

Good. Hopefully our guys hear that noise

Expand full comment

We certainly didn’t look like a playoff team tonight and Wiseman does have to figure out how to get on the boards more often. Shruggg those guys be saying the first things that pop up in their heads. But saying we might be a playoff team with Klay is dumb but not without merit, who knows how Klay will be like when he returns.

Expand full comment

He’s averaging 11 boards per 36 on the season. I know that’s an advanced concept for Chuck.

Expand full comment

Jokic 11.4 per 36

Bam 10.6 per 36

Expand full comment

Should be 20

Expand full comment

Chuck too

Expand full comment

Trade Steph and Draymond it's time to rebuild

Expand full comment

On a negative note it's pretty pathetic to lose when Steph goes off for 35 on 23 attempts with 11 rebounds

Expand full comment

Curry and Dray contributing 12 TOVs doesn't help

Expand full comment

That’s not super abnormal for him... we’re going to lose plenty of those this season

Expand full comment

Steph has possessions sometimes where his mental just goes somewhere and he looks like a rookie that doesn't know how to read a defense

Expand full comment

Especially when he runs to the corner, gets trapped n turns it over lol

Expand full comment

Like Draymond said, sometimes Curry just fucks around on the court, and tonight, it was for the entire game.

Expand full comment

Still have good chance to get to 10-8 at end of Jan... we’d all have taken that before season started

Expand full comment

On a positive note Oubre and Wiseman has been improving a bit when it comes to keeping their heads up on drives lately

Expand full comment

Wasn't like a disastrous L or anything imo. Just looked a bit fatigued. Curry and Draymond especially, I don't think the high turnovers for both are unrelated. Watching Wiseman not get any tough rebounds is frustrating because I think that could be such a big boost to their transition game, but ultimately this L was because the top dogs didn't perform more than anything else. And I'm not worried about those guys, other than their conditioning.

Expand full comment

As of right now, Wiseman is mainly a finesse player. There's been one more or two moments where he's gotten aggressive but overall he doesn't press too much. Wonder if he's afraid of fouling

Expand full comment

Big time finesse player. I'm fine with that on offense, but he needs to mix it up more defensively. Hope that's something that can be taught.

But the mistakes and flaws are expected given his age/experience, what frustrates me is the Warriors have no other option except to play through them and try to overcome them every game because they didn't sign a vet center who can rebound/protect the rim.

Expand full comment

Yeah def was hoping for a more physical presence esp for rebounding

Expand full comment

Sure they did: Chriss and Looney.

Expand full comment

Yeah but those guys are 6'9 or so and Looney is fragile. I see them as quality backups. I think Smailagic is taking up the "vet center" roster spot.

Expand full comment

Yeah, pretty much. But given that we’re not competing for a title anyway, I’d rather see Wiseman get minutes than some old journeyman like Baynes or Favors. If we had Klay, sure, give me another vet big.

Expand full comment

I think there's plenty of value for this team in competing for a playoff series win or two though. Some of those free agents like Batum or Gasol stayed away from the Warriors at least in part because they weren't considered a title contender.

Expand full comment

I think that’s part of it. I’ve definitely seen him avoid shot contests he looked like he could make.

Expand full comment

Stark difference from the first couple games where he was trying to block everything

Expand full comment

Interested to see the popcornmachine on this.

I felt like Wiseman handled the Jokic matchup as well as you'd hope for a 19yo rookie, then you look up and Jokic has a 23-11-10 triple double.

Expand full comment

The Joker is a trickster. (Ask Batman.) He has some slick moves, really hard to defend.

Expand full comment

It felt like he did a lot of damage while wiseman was out

Expand full comment

Play poole!

Expand full comment

So , the next one is against Lakers? Good bye .500 :(

Expand full comment

Nah. Classic reverse lock game. 7-6.

Oh wait, that’s “goodbye .500” too...
