Nicholas Batum has been waived to make room for Gordon Hayward in Charlotte. It will be interesting to see what happens to him. A $9 million dead cap hit for the next 3 years for the Hornets because they stretched the last year of his contract. He will clear waivers because any team that picked him up before he does would be obligated to pay the $9 million of this year's salary.

Barring further injury issues, this team is better than “fringe” playoff caliber. I look forward to Steph Curry reminding folks who’ve forgotten just how special he is. A lot of new pieces so it will take some time for them to gel. Going to be fun to watch!

Warriors sign Kaleb Wesson to a training camp deal. Reading through his bio and stats, how did this guy go undrafted? 6'9", 270lbs. A stretch big, can shoot the 3, rebound, and bang with the biggest. It will be interesting to see what the Warriors can get out of him.

Mannion officially goes on a 2 way contract, as expected.

He probably can't outplay Wanamaker for the backup spot, but he should be a solid 3rd string option / injury insurance

I had at first read an article [don't recall which one now] that stated the DPE was not affected by the luxury tax, but I've since read several articles that have stated that it is taxable. The maximum amount is $9.26 million and increases to $9.36 million if the player is acquired via trade.

Here are some interesting facts about the DPE that I ran across after doing a quick Google search. These are from Brady K's article in GSOM.

A few other notes for anyone who might have questions about the DPE:

While the DPE allows the Warriors to spend some additional money, it doesn’t offer anything in terms of financial relief or roster relief. Thompson’s contract still counts against the Warriors cap, and he still takes up one of their 15 allocated roster spots.

The DPE is taxed the same as any other contract, so the Warriors will be hit with a lucrative tax payment if they decide to use it.

Being granted the DPE does not make it illegal for Thompson to return this season. There’s no medical precedent for him being physically able to return this season, but I suppose the possibility of the season having a suspension and delay again shouldn’t be ignored.

If the Warriors use the DPE on a buyout or a trade, they can add a player with a contract exceeding the amount of the DPE, as long as they’re deep enough into the season that the remaining money owed to the player is less than the DPE.

The Warriors don’t have to use the entire DPE, but they cannot split it up and use it on multiple players. They also cannot combine it with what remains of the MLE to sign a more expensive player.

$9M DPE means $40M additional luxury tax give or take few million. Lacob is not going to use it till he has seen the current roster for third

or more of the season.or so. Not sure if Tucker will be around till then. But then what do I know. I also didn't think Lacob will use TPE.

Tucker would be nice - maybe they blow that whole team up and do a fire sale. And if they do, one of the LA teams will be all over it. I could see Bjelica being a great facilitator for the Warriors & spacing the floor for 3s. He's much better in Sacramento than he was allowed to be in Minnesota.

Is there any name there, including PJ Tucker, that is going to turn the 2021 Warriors into title contenders instead of a fringed playoff team? I'm not seeing it. The worst case scenario is they pick up somebody that marginally improves the team, and the end up the 10th best team in the league. No fan sees a heck of a lot of difference between being the 16th best team and the 10th best team. This team should aspire to be entertaining while retaining 2 1st round picks. I'm not convinced that Curry can't carry a team through a 2nd 4 year contract *if* he has the players around him. Steve Nash and John Stockton were effective point guards into their late 30s, and Curry is a better shooter than either of them. Curry + Wiseman + 2 picks + maybe Klay Thompson leaves a ton of cap space to sign a difference making FA or 2 going forward and it's still possible some of the 2nd rounders turn into something,

PJ Tucker -- or Robin Lopez. I'd be glad for either.

I watched the Cohan era warriors sometimes. They were pretty much unwatchable, to be honest. I'm more interested in having a team that's fun to watch than a boring team that wins. It looks as if Lacob & Myers are putting together something that will be worth watching.

"4 out of the last 5 championships" ? Am i just drinking too much here? Or are you? 😂

It'll be hard to imagine HOU wanting to do us any favors...agreed. they will likely find a better trade partner than us at the trade deadline or before it. But if they took a package of a 2nd rounder+Looney, i'd do it.

PJ TUCKER!!!

Yep that was pretty satisfying. And if the Rockets need to unload a contract without giving up Harden or paying a team compensation to duck the tax, maybe Tucker is available for a 2nd.

There's some boom and bust scenarios with the 2021 draft. We could lose our pick to the Thunder while the Twolves pick fails to convey, leaving us with no 1st round picks. Or, the Twolves could convey at #4 while the Dubs miss the playoffs, giving us two lottery picks. The craziest scenario has us picking at #1 and #4!
