The Jazz like Dallas will need a legit 2nd star to compete for a title. They have a good foundation already and have a lot of great role players but Mitchell will need a partner to duel other star duos/trios they'll eventually meet in the playoffs.. until then they'll be the divisional round heroes. Good enough to win the 1st round but not good enough to make it out of the West.
I just really appreciate Kerr watching these teams and their basic high school offenses to be honest, Mavs had enough fire power to win but they just let Luka run isos the whole fourth quarter and run weird lineups. KP is a super talented 7'3 and you can't properly utilize him? It's crazy
Giannis is not being used right he should be guarding KD simple as that, if loves contested pull ups, good look shooting over giannis. Gobert I agree though and it's my main gripe about Wiseman, the traditional center is done for, hopefully Wiseman is athletic enough to guard the perimeter however
Win or lose in G7, looks like Simmons is on his way out of Philadelphia, especially when they eventually lose to the Nets in 6. Unfortunately, Warriors might be one of the worst fits in the league with Draymond already here. Don't know if our offense could work with 2 complete non-threats from the perimeter (or heck, even from the free throw line). We would have to follow the template of the Bubble Lakers who were a mediocre offense and incredible defense.
Simmons flaws were on full display today. And what’s concerning is they are (more or less) the same flaws they drafted him with. Clearly not a fit for playoff basketball unless he addresses them in the off season. Olympics may not help with that either
Game after game I wonder why coaches just don't go to switching. It's the simplest, most effective way to deal with heavy-shooting teams. I know Gobert on Jackson/George is gonna be a mismatch, but it's gotta be way better than wide open 3 after 3 for what is likely the best shooting team of all time.
The Jazz are sorry. They're probably the Bucks of the WC. They let Terrance freaking Mann drop 39 on their head in an elimination game. If they thought the Clips was a tough opponent this year wait until the Warriors, Lakers and Denver reloads. Yeah Utah will never make it out of the West.
It was often said that the Warrior uptempo attack would wear the opponent out and then Curry would go for the kill in the third quarter. Clippers basically just did that except they were down 25 so it's still a game lol.
Gobert's defensive limitations are getting exposed by the smallball but I'm still not sure if the Clippers have enough talent to pull this off. If Mann keeps playing like this though...
Question- if Harris or Simmons is available via trade after this debacle, let’s say for Wiggins and this year’s two firsts (presuming both outside the top 5) and, in the case of Simmons, more later, do we pull that trigger? On Harris, what if it’s just the Minny pick, say, #7?
That’s a lot to give up for a guy with so many obvious limitations whose already moved past his rookie contract. Personally, not sure that I’d trade Wigs straight up for Simmons. You’re going to throw in like 3 first rounders?
And I think I would rather see what Wiggins looks like next to Klay than ruin the team we’ve been building toward to try to fit Simmons (whose flaws have been on display lately) next to Draymond.
That checks out Iggy career 33.3% 3PT at 2.7 attempts/game, Ben 14.7% at 0.1 attempts. Stats don’t tell the whole picture but they do describe how teams often leave Iggy out at the 3PT line and he makes them pay...enough. Simmons doesn’t do that
He has zero gravity whatsoever out there, and hasn’t for some time. Granted, he’s more credible at that distance than Simmons, but I’m not sure there’s a meaningful offensive difference there. Indeed, he brings some pretty amazing playmaking capabilities to the table. And the defense with him and Dray out there would be fierce
Kispert, if he really is available at 14, is a no brainier. With guys like Curry, Green, JTA, or Poole on the floor he doesn't need to handle the ball much, just be ready to catch and shoot it and he has the size to be a decent defender. Too many guys get labeled as lacking athleticism because they can't run like a gazelle and don't have a 30 inch vertical leap, but you don't need that to succeed in the NBA if you can shoot, and Kispert can shoot. Keon Johnson's stats don't impress me, I'd still prefer Scottie Barnes at 6 if the Warriors are willing to draft a non-shooter. At least Barnes should be able to do everything else at the NBA level.
Nobody should "take a flyer" on a #14 player......my expectations for the Dubs are for immediate help and a long-term rock solid contributor. Maybe not Kawhi, but close Anything less is not light-years.....
Plus, why would the Dubs trade locked-in, relatively low-salary picks for expensive players?
Immediate help for a team that is already a contender is a pretty tall order, but something close to Kawhi is another thing entirely. I suggest adjusting expectations.
I would really like Blake Griffin on the Warriors as the backup 4/5 next season. I think he's a good 20mpg offensive minded option. Would help alleviate spacing around Draymond while retaining decent size and switching ability. Am i crazy?

Maybe they just needed Conley or Mitchell to be 100%.

I think KP is pretty useless at this point, with an albatross contract that's going to keep Luka from contending.
He can't post up and isn't a reliable rim protector. Basically a slow wing.
Gobert/Giannis are the type of DPOY that dominates the regular season... guys like Kawhi/Draymond are the type of DPOY that wins chips
Giannis is not being used right he should be guarding KD simple as that, if loves contested pull ups, good look shooting over giannis. Gobert I agree though and it's my main gripe about Wiseman, the traditional center is done for, hopefully Wiseman is athletic enough to guard the perimeter however

Put Simmons at the five and it could work
Simmons flaws were on full display today. And what’s concerning is they are (more or less) the same flaws they drafted him with. Clearly not a fit for playoff basketball unless he addresses them in the off season. Olympics may not help with that either
You must be delighted Bellilaugh lol.

May or may not be listening to We Are The Champions while looking up some French swear words right now.

Denver is in the same boat as the jazz to me. It's hard to win when your best player is under 6'3 or a slow center
On the bright side maybe the Clips will realize Mann is the man and would be willing to part with Kawhi for cheaper than usual
Kawhi has a player option for '21-'22 at $36 mill. Whether he opts in or out, he's going to cost someone big bucks.
Kawhi hasn't shown his body can hold up, either in the regular season or playoffs. I would take him at the veteran's minimum, however.

If only the Warriors traded all those second round picks for Terance Mann (or Talen Horton-Tucker) and not Alen Smailagic. This kid is balling.
Florida State has put out a lot of good NBA players lately, perhaps Scottie Barnes is next up.
To be honest if smailagic can start hitting 3s and get more defensive IQ he'll be the perfect center for today's game
The Warriors could have gave that pick away and it still would have been a better option than Smiley
I’m really close to being on the Barnes train. It seems like he and Kispert have that Warrior look to their games.
Gobert looked /this/ close to Boguting his elbow on that fall.
Simmons pulled at the end so they can’t foul him. If you have to be pulled at crunch-time because of a glaring weakness, are you really a legit star?
Simmons has been exposed this playoffs.

Think you jumped the gun a big there.
And I think I would rather see what Wiggins looks like next to Klay than ruin the team we’ve been building toward to try to fit Simmons (whose flaws have been on display lately) next to Draymond.
I dunno. Iggy fit pretty well next to Dray
Iggy still needed to be guarded at the 3pt line though. Can’t say the same for Simmons
No, he really didn’t. Teams actively encouraged him to shoot
Oh come on, dude. Andre could hit a third of the threes he took. That’s a world of difference from Simmons.

A) he wasn’t a starter
B) are you saying Iggy and Simmons are similar?
A) he was a closer. It’s a distinction without a difference.
B) in spacing limitations, sure. In strengths, Simmons has a leg up
Iguodala was a much more valuable player.
You can’t just trade a pick for a well-paid player though.
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yc96celj
I was responding to the pick for Harris suggestion.
The suggestion was Wiggins for Harris
I see. The phrasing of your last line confused me.
Oh my, Simmons looks awful. He’s just got schooled by Red Velvet
Kispert, if he really is available at 14, is a no brainier. Moody at 6 kispert at 14 would be amazing
Cade at #1 and Mooney (or Barnes) at #6 would be even more amazing.
I'm a reasonable guy, I'll settle for Suggs at #3 and Moody at #6
Any combination of Moses, Barnes kispert lol
Nobody should "take a flyer" on a #14 player......my expectations for the Dubs are for immediate help and a long-term rock solid contributor. Maybe not Kawhi, but close Anything less is not light-years.....
Plus, why would the Dubs trade locked-in, relatively low-salary picks for expensive players?
...and with the Wolves pick at 7 or 8, anything less than Michael Jordan is simply unacceptable.
This comment made me laugh. Basically expecting them to get close to a generational talent at #14?
Immediate help for a team that is already a contender is a pretty tall order, but something close to Kawhi is another thing entirely. I suggest adjusting expectations.
Immediate help via the draft being what I meant.
I would really like Blake Griffin on the Warriors as the backup 4/5 next season. I think he's a good 20mpg offensive minded option. Would help alleviate spacing around Draymond while retaining decent size and switching ability. Am i crazy?
Yes. Crazy. People these here parts don't take to kindly to no Blake Griffins.
I’d prefer not to throw up in my mouth when watching the Warriors play.
Lol
Also, he appears to have been dogging it for the Pistons. That's just unprofessional.
That’s exactly why I don’t want him.
Yeah but he wouldn't for us if the team is as good as I think it can be.
I will never trust people with part-time integrity.
I believe Draymond to be guilty of this, too. Doesn't mean he can't or won't play. He needs motivation. Griffin does, too.
Well said
He should’ve been ashamed to cash those Pistons checks. Zero respect; don’t want him.
Besides why would Griffin leave the Nets? He fits pretty well there, and they seem to like him. They're contenders, even more so next year if healthy.
Keon seems like a guy who won't have one elite skill at the next level. I do like him over Davion Mitchell type of players at #6 though.
