That quote from Draymond about Podz is pretty cool and makes me even more convinced he’s legit.

In many ways, Podz is a mini-Draymond; high BBIQ, under-sized but plays way bigger, great court vision, much more vocal leadership than you’d expect from a rookie and more than a little cocky.

I think this whole thing with Kerr adjusting playing time is a continuation of the ego management that we saw with CP3 being one of the “6 starters”. He started with bread crumb comments while seeming to explore all options and really think it over, even if he’d already decided.

Now, we see him regretting not leaving Moody in the Sac game and talking about adjusting lineups and rotations, clearly hesitant to look like he’s giving up on Klay, Wiggs, but dropping hints.

I expect language something along the lines of “9 starters” as he starts working MM, JK and Saric into more lineups and minutes.

Pels 3-0 v Kings (+17.0 avg. point differential)

Kings 2-0 v. Lakers (+10.0)

Lakers beat Pels by 44

Pels 71 points better than themselves?

If egos didn’t affect coaching decisions so much, Wiggins and Klay should play off the bench while giving the young bucks some real world experience logging 25+ minutes! Especially because we have a losing record with the OG starting lineup. It’s all about energy, motivation, and momentum. Kerr free yourself of the egocentricity! F*ck it! Let them fly!

Kuminga’s hero, the late great Kobe Bryant, would have been damn proud of his performance. I actually felt moments of deja vu seeing KJ play like KB.

In response to Daniel's post on the win over Portland, as a fan, I'm just about done with this team. Why? The way the are coached, coddled, and protected from all criticisms that most of the league is unanimous on, including fans. The Warriors either can't or don't want to change and embrace the inevitable present and future for this team. It has pissed me off to a great extent and I am not enjoying watching this team play any longer. They don't deserve my fandom.

Expand full comment

This post is the equivalent throwing a tantrum for attention. You have to announce that you're upset so everyone knows.

"They don't deserve my fandom" lol. As if you are so special that everyone is out there clamoring for your fandom.

You have every right to be pissed off and stop watching, but I hate to break it to you - no one else cares whether you're a fan. And your constant negativity will not be missed.

With all due respect, if you've been around the Golden State Warriors long enough, and you certainly may have, you might recall that there have been lows that were far beyond anything that the team is going through right now. Just saying. Long before there was a dynasty, there was a Dubs fan base who astoundingly filled Oracle no matter what. Just saying.

Expand full comment

Oh, I've been through the lows. Pre-Cohan, & Cohan. It became fun when Nellie ran things even though they didn't win a ring. For me, this is not fun seeing an aging, smug, team, poorly managed. I'm not saying everyone is guilty and I certainly like seeing the new talent emerge. Part of it is the hype of WIN NOW. Lacob will milk this till it runs dry.

The ups and downs are part of the fun, isn't it? Of course regularly shellacking opponents by 40 points was fun too I'll admit. :-)

I am trying hard to make my peace with this team - I guess we just have to enjoy Steph and the young guys play and DONT EXPECT ANYTHING much out of this season!

In yesterdays game I enjoyed a few things:

Our young guys hustling, Steph, and the young and athletic blazers playing real hard - also the refs were not too bad :-)

Weighing in from TJD Atoll, I can mention many aspects of this game that I enjoyed.

One, watching Draymond execute plays with hustle and precise passing for a Wiggins slash to the basket and a Kuminga dunk.

Two, watching some new and nifty moves by Saric under the basket.

Three, watching Moody begin to feel his power.

Four, seeing Kuminga set a good screen for a Steph three point shot.

Five, watching Draymond do his thing.

Six, enjoying Steph being Steph.

I find I enjoy the games more if I don’t focus on the big picture, rather on individual examples of growth and excellence.

And, of course, the game will be maximally enjoyable when TJD gets playing time.

The old guard is tiring to me. No fun in watching them play poorly anymore even in a win against Portland who should have won this game, and Kerr with no idea how to integrate and develop his players. Now he's got to work for his money.

I know a lot of people like to hate on the NBA cup, but NBA gets the last laugh with a finals matchup of the classic Lakers v Pacers rivalry! Magic v Bird. LeBron v Hield. What a time to be alive. Wait.. you are telling me Pacers decided not to draft hometown hero Bird?! Nevermind, screw this (to be fair to our NBA overlords, I may watch the last quarter of the game (if it's close), which is more than I can say of most non-Warriors matchups).
