I'm even more concerned since it's the second or third time he's done this operation right? I remember last season there were so many times he'd squat and hunch down...
maybe he was just resting but I swear he would hold back a wince every time.
Klay would be the next Warrior candidate for therapy of some kind. He is emotionally retarded, not able to really express himself as a grown up. Where's Asher?
I'm not worried about anyone. I'm simply suggesting that your post doesn't deserve a genuine response because it serves no other purpose than to troll, antagonize, and offend (which by the way seems to be a pattern with many of your comments, although this one is worse than most of your others).
Well, maybe he’ll have a very clear and convincing way to get through to b-bum why using that word in that context is can easily be taken offensively? Although commenters did a good job below and it seemed to get nowhere. Sigh
Have I used it again? Now you want to get inside my head and tell the world what I think and how I should act? Is this the American way, to demand others to be and think like you?
Perhaps It’s the erosion of language that is leading to trouble here (beyond the pure trolling nature of the post having no place on this board.)
Saying emotionally retarded is an insult in its own right, but the word retarded in America became such an overused insult like the word gay that the prior meanings are no longer in effect and they are regarded as purely derogatory (unless gay is used in a proud context.)
So when you say Klay is emotionally retarded you’re not saying he’s emotionally stunted, you’re saying Klay’s a mentally deficient dumba$$ with the mentality of a really stupid child. Which makes you a total a$$ for saying something so rude as your complete post.
People asked you quite politely not to use a word they found offensive. And your finding lots of reasons why should be able to use that word. I’ll resist responding to the increased toxicity of the rest of your comment.
I’m actually a bit suprised that a mod hasnt stepped in here.
Your language was offensive to many of us. That should be enough for you to simply delete or edit your response.
Whether you choose to learn from it is another thing altogether.
Try reading the thread before you make a comment like this. Dayvan Cowboy pointed out early in the thread that the word was now considered disrespectful. I also pointed out that I didn't use it the way it seems most people take it. There are other definitions for the word retarded and have nothing to do with disrespect. Plus, I've not used it again since my original post. Now, I'm being attacked by the politically correct class of righteous basketball fans where fans express much worse sentiments than what I was misrepresented for. Get off the pedestal, please.
Isn’t Klay one of the *most* expressive Warriors, though? I feel like he fumbles for words sometimes only because he is so honest, almost to a fault, and it’s like he is trying to make sure he’s getting it right. Klay is one of the only people to go on Serge Ibaka’s YouTube show and not dodge the tough questions, everybody else ducks out and eats the bugs Serge has prepared lol.
Doesn't he fumble because he cannot put his finger on what he is trying to say? This is often a sign of a learning disability. Many people have them. I live with someone who is dyslexic and probably on the autism spectrum. She is extremely artistic but does not express herself clearly and I must ask her often to explain again what she means. I don't know what Klay's difficulty is, I'm just sayin'..............
You want some psychological input? This kind of targeting you are doing is easy and a type of uncritical thought. Challenge yourself more. You have no idea what kind of mental and psychological fortitude it takes to do what Klay does. I don't either, but I have a hypothesis that it is a lot more than what it takes to comment in an internet forum.
I know there are some real therapists here but as someone who has at least been on the receiving end, and worked with a few different therapists with greater and lesser results, I can say that, no, that is not what therapy is all about
To be less flip — therapy in my view is not about throwing out a diagnosis point blank (this has happened to me, not convincing) but working with someone over time to create a virtual and supportive environment that allows *them* to work through the things going on in their mind and figure out some strategies to process it *for themselves.* Ymmv etc!!
I understand, but retarded is not only used in the sense of your example but of something that has simply not developed fully, yet. I don't mean it as you implied. Personally, I haven't heard that used like that in decades.
See, if your intentions were pure, you’d have responded with a simple “oh shit, sorry”, and replaced the post with one using the much more common synonym “stunted”. The belligerent extended legal defense you seem to be attempting would imply that it’s just about trying to get away with tossing out a slur.
This is well trodden ground: whether it’s the term for bundles of sticks, descriptions of gaps in a persons armor, or the Spanish word for black, you don’t get to pull the “well, technically I’m not doing anything wrong, look at the dictionary” defense . Words get removed from common use all the time. It costs literally nothing to be considerate and adjust your language accordingly.
You are playing games with words that hurt people. Just because you haven't heard it doesn't mean it ain't used that way, or that the people targeted by the phrase do not hear it on the regular.
Part of what makes this blog special, or made it special until recently I guess, is that it's a safe place for all fans. Quit crapping in the punch bowl. You don't sound nearly as clever as you seem to think.
This seems like trolling to me. Nearly every dictionary currently carries a "considered offensive" warning next to that term, and has for quite some time. If you are describing the timing of a piston, sure. If you are describing a human, nah, you're wrong on this.
But even saying that Klay isn't emotionally developed and needs therapy is offensive, and the snarky request for someone with real therapy knowledge to chime in doesn't help. My guess is that if Asher does join the conversation, his response won't be what you think.
First off, I don't live in America. My dictionary is probably 30-40 years old, and I meant no offense using the word retarded. Wrong is an agreement that could be arbitrary.
A thing I've been thinking about: if there were an expansion draft for 2 new teams held today, which 8 players would GS be best served to protect?
My answer: Curry, Thompson, Wiggins, Looney, Poole, Wiseman, Moody, PBJ
In such a situation, we could lose up to two of Draymond, Kuminga, Iguodala, Rollins, DDV and JMG. I would be super sad to see Kuminga or Rollins go, but I think longterm the other youngsters may be more valuable.
Curry, Kuminga, Wiggins, Looney, Poole, Green, Moody, PBJ and then pay them off to take Klay. All of the long- and short-term issues of this team immediately resolved.
Yep, this is basically the core of Warriors Dynasty 2.0 along with Thompson if he is not selected due to age and injury concerns, whatever other flawed gems they can find drafting in the high twenties, bench fillers, championship chasing vets. Probably they don't get 3 new all stars out of that bunch and the Warriors need to do a full reboot but it is the safest bet.
The downfall of Dray has made this question far simpler than it was a couple weeks ago. I would swap PBJ with Kuminga but otherwise I agree with your list, although if I was really drinking the PBJ kool-aid (not a flavor I would voluntarily select, mind you), I might put him in instead of Thompson, heretical as it might seem.
Big men who can shoot and who appear to be able to soak up knowledge are hard to find. Kuminga plays good D and can dunk but hasn't really shown a lot of improvement that I can see. Don't get me wrong: I think they all have fantastic upside.
Did the punch cost QW and or LQ a two-way? It's one thing to consider. They seem like they (Dubs) would enjoy having one more primary ball-handler on a two-way. What interests me is, have they now decided that one of the two-ways must be reserved for a big, just in case Draymond proceeded to fly off the rails? We shall see. But based on their actions last year, deciding one 6'9" center was all an NBA team needed, I doubted that they would add a big. But if they do now, safe to say you can draw a straight line from the punch to the two-way shake-up.
Oh my gosh, what happened? I’m sorry to have missed it, Dilly, and it sounds really, really hard. Dill is a trooper though and will stay strong for you and Molly.
If this was shared here, I missed it. Coach Nick’s (BBallBreakdown) How Steph Curry Broke the NBA is really good https://youtu.be/mFW3jJgjNcY
His argument is that Steph changed the way the game is played more than any other player, ever. He takes a really interesting trip through Steph’s evolution and goes through numbers (Steph and the league) of how shot selection has changed so much. I was honestly surprised how much Steph’s game as changed, like how many long 2’s and mid-ranges he took early on and how it was until 2015-16 that he really started launching from way down town.
Listening to Nick fawn over Steph is always fun, but this was also informative
If Trevion can see the offensive floor so well, surely he can develop his defensive reads. Add this with some Decky tutelage/footwork and we have a chance to get a fine bball player
After seeing the extent of skin loss on Dill's legs Sunday afternoon, I was able to get him to the vet Tuesday morning affter calling & sending pictures Monday. He put on a sugar/iodine solution and wrapped the affected areas. We decided it would be easier to leave him there so the wraps can be changed every 3-4 days.
I called this morning to see how Dill was doing. "He doesn't like it here very much and he's not eating or drinking." Not good.
So, I took down the food he likes. He hissed at the vet when he opened his door. I let him sniff my hand and petted his head a bit and then gave him food. He started eating immediately & in just a few minutes he ate more than he had at one time here at home. I told him he needs to drink water too. After he had eaten for a few minutes, he started purring, which I took as a very good sign. I also told him Molly [my kitten] has been worried about him.
I had a longer chat with the vet. Dill won't be there for just a couple of weeks - but a couple of months, at least, before he's healed. It's going to be a long road for him. But he looks the best that he has to me since the injuries occurred.
Dill is pretty tough. Escaped a coyote [we think] last year and had a deep bite between his shoulders and one on his throat. Like he'd been in its jaws. He bounced back pretty fast after that. This time has been a lot rougher for him. But he will get there.
A bad fight with another male cat who was in the area for Mama kitty - the mother of the 2 kittens I have in the house now.
I was gone on a trip for 6 days. Dill was in the house with my child stopping by to take care of him every couple of days. While he was inside, Mama took off her 2 'outdoor' kittens to get them out of the way. The other male cat started coming around. Boots found his way back to the house and was rejected by mama. So he attached himself to me [when I got home] & wouldn't leave my side when I was outside. His brother Buff I haven't seen since I left on my trip. My kitten Molly [sister of the boys but rejected by mama early on] was being boarded with the vet while I was gone. So I get home & Dill goes back outside during the day again to discover that his territory has been invaded by an interloper. 2nd night they get into a big fight & Dill gets injured. Doesn't come in until the next morning. I see how bad his front legs are injured [also chest & belly] and we make a flying trip to the vet. After a couple of weeks at home, the skin has died and is completely missing in places on both legs.
It's like a soap opera with cats around here all summer & fall.
I assume you already know this but Mama needs to be "fixed" if she is not already...or you will have every other outdoor male sniffing around to fight with your Dill on a continual basis (and its much better for her too). I hope Dill recovers quickly; I know from long experience with cats that they can withstand stuff humans would never be able to take so I trust all will be well! My best wishes to you and all those kitties (hope Buff comes home!).
I am guessing that mama is already pregnant again. She is mostly feral. Totally feral before I started feeding her since she had the kittens and was starving. I doubt very much that I ever see Buff again. Thanks
Just heard Draymonds interview. also had heard the big Bill Simmons western conference preview podcast where they surmised that Draymond would probably not be with the Dubs come the trade deadline. Dismissed it but as I hear Draymond this dude gone gone. He’s checked out today. I do believe he’s a professional and he’ll carry himself as such but I don’t think whatever was irking him enough to lash out at Poole has gone away. Like I vowed just gonna have to focus strictly on his in game play this year barring any other shenanigans
Agree with your last point - Draymond just needs to let his game do the talking from here on out. All this talk is getting the team nowhere. It's good there is game tomorrow and that the season is kicking off next week.
I disagree. We fans (and human beings) are curious bunch. After the incident we (and that includes me) wanted to see him punished and more importantly feel that punishment - show remorse to a point where it looks like he has seen his ways.
Now, in the first presser back, we want to see him all pumped about team, this year, his relationship with Poole. May be he is checked out from answering these 'dig-dig-dig and hopefully he says something that gives it away' questions. 18 out of 20 questions were just about that. May be he is still working through his emotions about the incident (guilt, anxiety about that he may have destroyed something beautiful he built). But he is putting up a tough front.
Let's give dude some space. If we see the same checked out behavior in a month from now, I would agree. For now, I am reserving my judgement.
On the Plus-Minus podcast, either Kawakami or Slater talked about this being Dray's last year and described the 'discipline' the team settled on as the kind of thing that happens when a marriage is breaking up. It's not ideal, but you're just trying to get through it. Thompson chimed in by comparing it to why some ethnic minorities are not interested in reparations from the US government. The logic is that once the money is paid, it's supposed to be done and you can't talk about it anymore, and in this case, had the team imposed a suspension, Green could have served it, then felt done with it. The way they've settled things, he doesn't get off in a week or a month. He's stuck with the longer task of trying to earn back trust. Don't know if that will work, but it was a helpful bit of perspective for me regarding this disturbingly light consequence.
Whatever answer Dray gives I don’t think people are going to be satisfied. But Draymond just answering as sincerely as he can and I can see his thought process. He’s probably not ready to apologize quite yet just wants to get on the court
I don't think it's particular words people are looking for, just something that indicates that he understands what he's done. Given his answer to Kerith Burke when she asked about what he's going to do to try to win back trust with his teammates, I'd say he sounds oblivious. I admit that's an outsider's view; who knows what's going on behind the scenes? But it was a terrible, not encouraging answer.
I get the argument that "these guys don't have to like each other; they just have to be professionals" but I'm less convinced that it works well in basketball. The Billy Martin As fought all the time, but baseball is more individualistic than basketball, especially Warrior ball. I'm open, but I'm not optimistic that it will succeed. Chemistry, unselfishness, and a willingness to put the team first are just so important. Not sure where Dray fits into that equation anymore.
In the larger sense, it doesn't matter what is bothering him. He's going to be bothered one way or another as that is the kind of program he runs in his head. I don't care if he stays or leaves, I just want him to play sensibly and do his job without his disrupting influence. Isn't everyone sick of his whining at the refs and complaints? Has it ever been effective? He's effective when he's playing defense and running plays. That's enough, don't need any 'extras'.
If tomorrow is supposed to be more of a dress rehearsal, we'll get the first look at the rotation pattern. It's, obviously, quite intriguing to speculate how Kerr's going to handle it. I'm assuming the targets are something like:
Steph/Dray/Klay/Wiggs/Poole - 30mpg
Loon/Wise/JK/MM/DDV/JMG - 15mpg
That's 240mpg right there... without any minutes for Andre, PBJ, RR, and really not many minutes for the non-Poole subs. Gonna have to count on Steph, Dray, and Klay taking a bunch of nights off to make room for others to get more minutes.
It’s absolutely wild how deep the team is. Players 1-5 could all reasonably play 36 min per night, and players 6-11 could all play 15-20 minutes a night. There’s just not enough minutes to around without resting dray/klay/Steph for a ton of games.
I doubt the starters will get 30 minutes, certainly Klay won't in his first few games. I would think the targets would be in the high 20s rather than 30. The advantage of having a crazy deep team is that there is no reason to flog the starters.
Agree... sliver lining: Those calculations above are for when everybody is available & healthy. With the 50-60 combined games Steph, Klay, and Dray will miss for rest, and the 100+ combined games that players up and down the roster will miss from injuries, there's probably ~30-40mpg available to spread around. Can probably bump the "15mpg" group up to "20mpg" for the season per game averages.
Honestly, there's no real holes there, especially since you can slide Dre in as an emergency ball handler, DDV also plays wing, and JK also plays big. Fill the 2 ways, and leave the roster spot open for optionality if the team gets a confluence of injuries at one of the roles.
Dang got distracted, logged on to see if anyone knows why the Warriors waived the Q’s and where they are going from here.
Bummed that GP2 is sidelined to start the season. I really hope things go well for him in Portland.
I'm even more concerned since it's the second or third time he's done this operation right? I remember last season there were so many times he'd squat and hunch down...

Feels like the bum has writer’s block. Or needs one.
Hurt people hurt people. I hope that whatever troubles you is something that one day you are able to process and heal from.

You don't need to worry about Asher.

read the comment by Dayban Cowboy.
Dude, this is a really disrespectful comment.
My name's not dude, dude.
Basketbum, that was a really disrespectful comment.
It depends on your point of view.
I can only imagine from Klay’s point of view it would be ridiculously disrespectful… which is pertinent.
Try imagining something else.
Ok, bum. ;)

...live and learn.
But the above poster explanied the orgins of why calling someone a retard is used to insult people. Now you know.
Would you say that to a black person who was called the N-word?
Very astute. Keep reading Twitter for your information and views..........

I think this is fair from what we have seen this pre-season. Interested to see if this prioritization shifts as the season goes on
What makes you think pbj or eiseman is more valuable long term then kuminga? Especially since kuminga had a great rookie season
Big men who can shoot and who appear to be able to soak up knowledge are hard to find. Kuminga plays good D and can dunk but hasn't really shown a lot of improvement that I can see. Don't get me wrong: I think they all have fantastic upside.
So does this look right for the state of our roster:
Curry

Wiggins
D Green
Looney
Poole

Moody
J Green
Wiseman
Kuminga
Iguodala
PBJ
Rollins

Might be a slightly negative interpretation. Lamb was impressive in that last game. He may have just forced his way into the 2-way conversation.
Bigs who can defend multiple positions and shoot 3s are kerr-ball nirvana.
I think that's a stretch. None of the players still in play for the two-ways are bigs. Lamb is the biggest at 6'6" 227 lbs.
Also, we just added a 7 footer to the depth chart.
Tonight’s epic matchup: Spurs/Thunder pre-season game.
Yuck.
Oh my gosh, what happened? I’m sorry to have missed it, Dilly, and it sounds really, really hard. Dill is a trooper though and will stay strong for you and Molly.

I had a longer chat with the vet. Dill won't be there for just a couple of weeks - but a couple of months, at least, before he's healed. It's going to be a long road for him. But he looks the best that he has to me since the injuries occurred.
Hang in there, Dill and Dilly!
thanks

Oh man, heal fast kitty!
Thanks, Duby!!
Dilly, what happened? I am sending healing thoughts and energy to Dill and you, too.
Thanks, Janet. I posted a long explanation in a comment below.
Cats are tough. David West tough.
Dill is pretty tough. Escaped a coyote [we think] last year and had a deep bite between his shoulders and one on his throat. Like he'd been in its jaws. He bounced back pretty fast after that. This time has been a lot rougher for him. But he will get there.
Wow what a rough ride. Speedy recovery Dill
Thanks

Thanks
How did the injury happen, i mossed that part
Thanks
You and your Dill are warriors! Thank goodness Dill chose you.
thank you
Just heard Draymonds interview. also had heard the big Bill Simmons western conference preview podcast where they surmised that Draymond would probably not be with the Dubs come the trade deadline.
For now, I am reserving my judgement.
yeah, this one needs space and fresh air. I don't think we will have anything to worry about until after the next Chip.
So whats bothering him?
(Summary or inference or quotes welcome), I’m not into listening to Dray’s podcast.
Besides Boston's Drop Coverage?
I’m sure the negative attention is bothering him
Your most informative post ever!
We are going to set a new standard for garbage time quality!
It’s absolutely wild how deep the team is. Players 1-5 could all reasonably play 36 min per night, and players 6-11 could all play 15-20 minutes a night. There’s just not enough minutes to around without resting dray/klay/Steph for a ton of games.
15-18 minutes for Klay tomorrow night according to the Kerr interview I just watched.
I doubt the starters will get 30 minutes, certainly Klay won't in his first few games. I would think the targets would be in the high 20s rather than 30. The advantage of having a crazy deep team is that there is no reason to flog the starters.
Looney played 21 mpg last season and Kuminga played 17 mpg. Not sure how they’ll feel about getting their minutes cut.
Agree... sliver lining: Those calculations above are for when everybody is available & healthy.
Roster breakdown:
Ball handlers - Steph/JP/DDV/RR
Wings - Klay/Wiggs/JK/MM/Dre
Bigs - Dray/Loon/Wise/JMG/PBJ
Honestly, there's no real holes there, especially since you can slide Dre in as an emergency ball handler, DDV also plays wing, and JK also plays big. Fill the 2 ways, and leave the roster spot open for optionality if the team gets a confluence of injuries at one of the roles.
And for the regular season, we’ll have at least one more ball handler as 2-way.
Extra brownie points for confluence.
